Hi Navid! Thank you so much for this video. Ahmad Al-Khatib was so articulate. Always interesting. You were an excellent interviewer because you knew the most interesting things to discuss and you kept the conversation on track - not easy for an interviewer. I especially liked his discussion of his studio work - how microphones and their set-up (distribution) and the post-recording work was difficult. I have a small home studio where I record mostly myself and have had oud problems. Nice to know I'm not alone, and where I might improve. This is not to say everything else wasn't interesting. It was great. Thank you, and please do more of these interviews. They are an excellent way for us amateurs to learn.

Great coincidence, I just spent last week doing the workshop in Arles with Ahmad (it was amazing). This interview was just the perfect continuation to all the thinking and ideas developed during and after the workshop. You're doing a great interviewer job, I hope there will be more ! Thanks a lot (and sorry for my bad english)

what are the adavntages as Ahmad stated that , i=he was playing violin for about 3 years before starting with oud , how advantegeous is one in such scenarios to starting playing the Oud

It's not necessarily advantageous, however it could assist in learning the oud in the same way that learning multiple languages over time simply makes you better at learning languages. You start to see similar patterns and similar words especially languages that are related to each other. It is the same with musical instruments.

The standard frequency of pitch is not a very important in middle eastern music. It always depends on the singer. This music was around before the ability to measure frequency. Please let me know why you think it's important to discuss this, I'm curious. Thanks for watching! :)
