I sang this piece when I was this age... nearly in Moses' time. Lol The other day, I stumbled upon a Ken Medema reference, and found a performance of his... which led me to go looking for a choir performance of it, like we'd done so very long ago. This is a hidden gem. I surprised myself by singing instinctively along with the Altos as my brain (and Soul) uncovered each phrase. Almost like it was supernatural, go figure! ;) God is SO good at being God.
I played this many moons ago in high school for our choir, and it had such an impact on me that years later I taught it to the high school choir that I taught. Such a powerful message!
When I was in high school, my voice teacher, a great big bear of a professional baritone (think Bryn Terfel) sang this in a concert. He threw every bit of his high-level professional dramatic experience into it. In other words... He "threw it down." Not only the song, but the real-life example and fulfillment of its message, has affected me until this day.
