Interesting stuff! I'd be curious to know if you have any thoughts about the Solid project led by Tim Berners-Lee. The goal of that project seems to be building the web on a similar framework to what you have described here: publishing your data to a repository you control, then 'syndicating' it by granting access to external applications.
This whole thing doesn't apply to me personally but I really like the whole idea of taking the ownership back from profit/data/ad driven social media sites that will inevitably go under.

This is about a new approach to controlling your own data, nowhere does it claim to be a replacement. (You should not want to replace garbage, you'd want to get rid of it. 😅)
