Blaidd fought his madness until the end, he never stood a chance, but even in madness he tried to protect Ranni, surrounded by her assassins. He fought for her til the bitter end, sword and fang. The goodest boy

I read a theory that he was resisting until he sees us the tarnished. And only then does he let go, in faith that we can out him down, to protect Ranni. Idk how truthful that theory is, but it breaks my fucking heart man 😭
Blaidd's story is so sad. Also, it seems he wasn't aware of that considering his reaction to stuff like Idji trapping him in thr Evergaol.
I really like how Ranni and Marika's relationships with their respective shadows sheds light on their characters. The last thing Ranni says before leaving to slay the Fingers (the most dangerous part for her) is that she wants the player to tell Iji and Blaidd that she loves them. Meanwhile, the remembrance of Malekith flat out tells us that Marika betrayed him in the end.
I feel like Malekith is low-key one of the most tragic characters in Elden Ring
when I think of similarities between Ranni and Marika...I wonder... Radagon is "part of" Marika... is that in the same way that Blaidd is part of Ranni?

I finished Ranni's questline today, with Blaidd's tragic ending too, so this video is perfectly timed.
Why does FromSoftware keep making such sad stories for such good woofers??
Honestly love Blaidd so much, from the moment you meet him there's a bond there and he's got this rugged charm while being down to earth and never failing in his conviction. He also kinda reminded me of Ifan ben-Mezd from Divinity II.

Good day Zoe. Just tweeted you/Eurogamer on this also, in case you missed it there... May I suggest the next video on 2 vs. 3 fingers? Looks like they add up to a full hand, were they from the same hand? What are they, what's their origins? Why/what resulted in the split?
Tinsy tiny point but the "dd" in Welsh is pronounced like the "th" in "that" or "them" :) So it's like, blye-the (like the word the) rather than blythe

based on what iji says after you defeat blaidd, and him being surrounded by assassin corpses, I think that Blaidd even in madness fought to protect ranni. that's why iji said he hopes blaidd will accept his apology and that he was wrong about blaidd
Somebody didn't talk to Iji after the Evergaol. He wasn't losing his mind over being her consort or the lack there of him being that,that's his "sister". He was fighting the 2 fingers influence,which sorta explains why Iji wears that mirror thing to stave off the 2 Fingers influences on the mind or something,point is,he's best boy and I hate the Golden Order😭

Due to the nature of how souls like games are made npc never interact with each other... Blaidd has no interaction with Ranni think about that.
Fun fact: Blaidd in the welsh language translates directly to ‘Wolf’.

His story could only end in tragedy for one so loyal. I think I read somewhere Iji dies too, but I’m not sure. I’ve only just beaten Astel.
There is another detail to his story that I feel does need to be addressed. After Ranni's quest you see him surrounded by the bodies of the Black blade Assassins. It would seem they were trying to assassinate him as well as selevis and Ijii if you tell him what has happened to Blaidd. But weren't the black blade assassins working for Ranni when she stole the rune of death to kill her flesh and kill Godwyn's spirit. So why were they hunting down Blaidd and the rest? Was it the Golden order hiring them to kill, did they decide to betray Ranni with the power of death for some greater ambition... or could it be once Ranni had what she wanted she cut off her mortal ties except her consort and made sure not to have any loose ends to her plans... it's sad to think of any of these possibilities but I just hope it's not that last one... Blaidd deserves better for he is best Boi

Honestly, my only gripe is that his final fight is so out of the way (you don't even need to do it for Ranni's ending; you can get the ending and just not go back to her tower). Instead of a repeat Star-scourge/Star-seeker/Star-whatever-it-is standing between you and the last leg of Ranni's questline, Blaidd appearing in the cave and fighting a losing metal battle against the Two Fingers would have been epic and a great way to cap off both characters:

Blaidd could get a moment of clarity/sanity as he dies, thanking you for protecting Ranni from him and asking that you continue in his stead.

Ranni, likely not knowing how her best friend would suffer as a cost of her actions, would be heartbroken over her loss and have renewed fury against the Two Fingers for twisting him so.
If you could cover Melina and her story, I don't know much about her and she has a moveset similar to the black knife assassin's, I've always wondered if they could be connected somehow

I didn't kill Blaid. I figured that wherever Ranni is, he can't get to her. Also if you kill Blaid, then Ihji will get assassinated by the black knives.
In the middle of the quest, he gets placed in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol by Iji which I still don't quite understand.
Idji seems to be aware of what'll happen to Blaidd's mund and places him in the Evergaol in order to stop him from hurting Ranni.
Blaidd becomes insane when ranni dissapears, he is bound to her, he is lost without her, Iji saw what was happening to Blaidd and put him in there to protect others and to protect Blaidd. We know that Blaidd needs ranni to stay sane, because if we return to rannis rise, Blaidd is sitting there in disbelief, trying to understand why she left him.
Never been a furry, nor am I still... but Im a huge fan of Blaidd. Character is so well written and tragic. And his fighting animations are so unique. He is so bad ass. Wish we had him as a summon, or at least he helped us against some bosses before his decent into madness 😩
Killed blaidd right before this. Made me very upset. I'm gonna remember that one for sure
