Simon Porte Jacquemus just got 30 years old. This show is called L'ANNEE 1997.
His new show explores the first dress he ever cut for his mother Valérie, out of a linen curtain, in 1997. Legend Laetitia Casta is here to make his vision come true.
A very personal collection, supported by a cast you don't see often for a small independant house. And Gigi Hadid suddenly hairflips and the world goes nuts.

I didn't know his mother had died. I had tears in my eyes when he spoke about her because I know that she inspires the aesthetic of the brand. Really bittersweet.
It was when his mother died that he started the brand and the name of the brand is in fact his mother's maiden name!!

Bella is such an angel. You can't fake that, she really has a genuine sweetness and that really makes her stand out from other girls with such hard shells
I just wanna say "THANK YOU" for Loic for this kind of content that he provided to everyone. I personally am NOT a big fan of Jacquemus. But I admire the passion, the love that he has for what he is doing. And video like this shows that there is a part under "the tip of the iceberg" that is equally as fascinating as the collection itself. It makes a fashion show isn't just a purely 15 minutes video, clothes aren't the image that we see and forget on Vogue website. Or models are just a walking mannequins. Or designers are the easily disposable commodity of the industry who lose their credit once their creativity no longer fits with fast-pacing appetite of people.
I truly believe that we, as a viewer, need to approach fashion in a more sustainable and deeper way. And thank you, Loic, for providing us the "tools" to do so.

J’ai été personnellement touché par cette vidéo. JACQUEMUS, ce n’est pas juste une marque avec une direction créative, c’est surtout un enfant qui continue à sa manière de rendre hommage à sa mère. Et c’est cette histoire qui rendra toujours cette marque spéciale quelle que soit la trajectoire qu’elle aura. LOOK 8 for me, a business hit. Constante silhouette toujours renouvelée. As a Black Portuguese I loved the name of Gigi dress: "Saudade". It makes the collection for his mum even better and more emotional, I had a "aaawww" moment when I heard the name.

he was clever to do the show during pre-fall - really helped this catwalk have its moment while every other brand did lookbooks and small presentations

Que dire ! La collection, la mise en scène, l'histoire j'ai adoré. On retrouve la personnalité de Simon dans les tenues, la simplicité, l'élégance, la passion....Le HAIRFLIP de Gigi IS everything ! Les Robes de Bella, Liu et Gigi sont un coup de coeur, la coupe qui taille la silhouette, le côté féminin à la française et les couleurs paisibles du printemps, été. Enfin la tenue de Joan est aussi un coup de coeur (étonné d'apprendre que ce soit une pièce, merci Loïc), jalouse de ne pas y avoir assisté haha. Un défilé authentique au créateur, et merci à Loïc et son équipe.

Je trouve ça juste hallucinant l'acuité de jacquemus pour la coupe, les matières. Il a une capacité à élever une pièce simple au rang de création d'une perfection chirurgicale. Tout est précis, structuré mais si léger et fluide à la fois! C'est solaire, c'est frais mais c'est pointu, bref Jacquemus est un grand en puissance
Pas d'accord sa coupe n'est pas parfaite du tout ou alors Casta est trop pulpeuse pour le modèle de jupe qu'elle portait d'où les nombreuses fronces involontaires

It had EVERYTHING: let me start by the diversity of color, age and body in the casting (loved!) then the thought of sustainability (more important than ever today), the story of his mother behind the collection (retain tears lol) and finally beautiful pieces... This was such a beautiful collection. So simplistic yet so meaningful. I thought all the clothes looked really sophisticated, nice and well done. Even the runway, with its minimalism and big open space was a nice touch and left the audience and people to interpret and really admire the clothes. This is a prime example of not doing too much and not doing too little. Tastefully done!

Que dire c'était un défilé rempli d'émotions, Mr.Jacquemus on sent qu'il est sensible sincère et élégant ça se ressent dans ses créations, un bel hommage à sa maman à ses rêves d'enfant. J'ai adoré les look 34,35,44,52,62 et LA CASTA !!!! Sublime solaire c'est vrai sensuelle et d'une élégance folle et j'ai adoré les bijoux inspiration collier de nouilles ah j'en ai fait pour ma ptite maman chérie lol les références a Jean de florette Manon des sources et l'été meurtrier Isabelle Adjani tellement sensuelle iconique. un grand Merci d'une grande fan d'Alger !!!
