The guitar and keyboard duo in the fast section is one of the truly epic moments in rock and roll. This band kicked more ass than a truckload of mules. LONG LIVE SAGA! Greetings from Puerto Rico...
SAGA - beste liveband ever!!!
saw them in 1984 at the MONTREAL forum. great concert, real good musicians, very versatiles. you can see the dvd that been shot in montreal. sorry for my english SYLVAIN
wow those memories!!!!! My Husband used to copy the Lead Singer so good that when we went to the concert in Munich some people thought he is the Leadsinger, 3 weeks after the concert he passed away because some coward (was never found) shot him!! R.I.P BOO you left me to early but with videos like this my memory is kept alive!
I never understood why SAGA wasn't bigger here in the US. Ever since I heard the "worlds apart" album, Ian was one of the biggest influences on my guitar playing. Great guitar tone, and in my estimation it was never as good as the early albums with his LP loaded with P-90's!
Normally Jim Crichton was the bass player and Michael Sadler was singer/keyboardist but I remember in Stockholm that they changed on this song. Saga was great in Stockholm, in the 80s. I saw them later too after Negus and Gilmour played and it was not far as good as earlier. It is great of you to upload this. I had almost forgotten Saga....( how could I)
Oh yeah! they are coming back to Puerto Rico for alfa rock 35th anniversary 08/17/2013. Will be there with my daughter & my son. Times change, ja ja ja
Look at my post on 1984. The best Moog solos in history and u see straight up a f... nose of a guitar player and back head of a drummer. Rick Wakeman had a minicam on the board of his Minimoog and showed it on a big screen. A great Minimoog player can scare the living shit out of any guitar player with make-up and pink tights thinking their are REAL men because they drink tea from a Jack Daniels bottle and have grown hair. Rock on Saga this is virtouso on a stellar level.
There is a video made in Venezuela where Mike just botched the bass part during the little medieval-sounding break after the second set of verses. I believe he had to play bass on this one because the Jims were busy with the keyboards during most of the song. Excellent singer, excellent keyboardist... eh, so-so bassist. But he did the job well here. ;-)
Funny, I was just about to comment on the same thing! when the solo 1st starts you can see the keyboardist going nuts as the camera is tilted back. Then they try to catch the soloist by going to a guitarist. Now to the other guitar...Oh hell, let's just go to the snare. Help me.
Ah, that won't always help. It's his use of the chorus pedal along with distortion that I don't like. Not just him, but generally, distorted chorus, or chorused distortion never sounds quite right to me.
SAGA were HUGE in Germany in the 80's!! Brilliant band, perfect.

One of the most underrated bands of the 80s and 90s.
Like Gino Vannelli, one of the best studio musicians.
Right into my SAGA playlist :) Thank you :) ROCK ON!!!!!!
Saga making the Soundtrack of all the good Memories in my Life.

@gremlinjr:
I have seen a triple concert in 1987: Nazareth, Kansas and Saga in Munich. Incredible!!!
Saga Daga Dooo 👍😀
That Humble stance and timid glance.....Has anyone missed that in a local facility close to home?? B-)

SAGA - you just have to listen - once and you r there.... am i wrong or - come on
Didn't Sadler play the keyboards and the guitarists brother play the bass ?
Left-handed drummer!!!
Ahhh... analog instuments.
Ah, that won't always help.

...but I should add I do think he's a good guitar player...
Hate his guitar sound...
