If the Sheika were using Ganon to power their tech, in such an inhumane way, that may be why it’s buried. The king didn’t want to use it even though he knew they couldn’t free Ganon without massive retaliation.
And that’s why the Sheika were killed and resented.
The Yiga clan are allied with and want to free Ganon. What if this is because they too thought it was an inhumane act and are trying to reverse it?

The Royal Family sealing Ganondorf beneath Hyrule Castle like this actually makes sense. You trap Ganondorf like this, you put a pause on reincarnation. This is because since Ganondorf isn't dead in this mummified state, Demise's Hatred can't reincarnate in a male gerudo because there can probably only be one male gerudo at a time.
    Edit:

That's the more obvious answer. However, if tied with the energy source, that would make the entire thing better and ingenious. They used Demise energy to build a 10 thousand years civilization, that's very successful to say the least. And if the energy overflows, just train a blondie through 120 shrines and seal the thing again for more 10 thousand years.

But through time, his energy just grew fiercer, be it because the lack of use of it or because he's just so mad. Eitherway same thing

Have you considered the possibility that this is not a process of Sealing but of Purging Ganondorf? Separating his original Gerudo soul from Demise’s Malice? That would explain why he is kept mummified while both fluids flow away from his body. It would be a way to prevent reincarnation as well, like previously mentioned, by keeping his death as a continuous process. Why trying to “heal” Ganondorf? Perhaps because he was the very first incarnation of the Hero?
When I first saw the Sheikah tapestry on BotW I noticed the hero was red-haired, large and pumped up, not the Hylian-type but the Gerudo-type. The monster in the middle looked to me more like an anthropomorphic version of the Imprisoned, which is actually Demise, right?
Could it be that the story of the sequel will shift towards a legend where Ganondorf is seen as the original hero, who became corrupted by the Malice of Demise, and because there were no more male Gerudos born the spirit of the hero chose a Hylian subsequently? I wonder...

Looking back on this, I still think it holds up pretty well. Probably since we haven't seen anything new from the sequel to change it. But I'd probably spin the move as an overall positive choice. They kept Ganondorf under wraps for so long he was reduced to legend and even his appearance is only recorded fully as the Calamity Ganon an incredibly long period ago. It cost them in the end. But how many tens of thousands of years of peace did they get out of it? Probably more than if they simply killed the guy and he was reborn. Or sealing him less effectively and having him bust free.
It's a tough situation since there wasn't a good way to deal with him permanently. And now Link and Zelda have to handle it. Should be pretty crazy.

  • @NovaNocturneArt

    A couple of theories:
In tandem to this video's theory, perhaps the soul power is exactly what's going on. They saw Ganondorf as the ultimate source of power because of his Triforce piece. But he couldn't be a mobile power source, so they harnessed what they could for other things, such as the guardians. What if, guardians are powered by shiekah souls and that is where much of the sheikah civilization disappeared to. Even more interesting is if you examine that they had deserters that eventually became the Yiga clan. What could have possibly caused the Yiga to desert? Well maybe it was the demand to become power sources that scared the Yiga clan enough to run from their fate. Yiga clan were cowards who didn't want to power guardians. This may also explain why each shrine has a mummified monk inside. Each monk was specifically powerful enough to make and power a trial. Their blue cage preserves them until their role is fulfilled, then they disintegrate for a well deserved eternal rest. That would be a terrifying fate for the faint of heart and explains why the sheikah have all but disappeared. Only a small collection of loyal Sheikah remained to serve the Royal family and settle in Kakariko village.
Tying this in to my own additional theory, what if with Ganondorf properly sealed into an everlasting mummification process, they buried their guardians and divine beasts because the calamity was contained. It wasn't until the current generation Zelda started seeking her power that the Calamity started to return. It would mean unearthing these automatons was a misunderstanding. They never needed the Divine Beasts. It was the pressure Zelda felt that was the catalyst to the events of BOTW.
"The power to defeat Calamity Ganon lies DORMANT beneath the ground." Maybe this dialogue isn't referring to the Guardians and Divine Beasts at all as we are lead to believe. Maybe this is referring to the two pieces of the triforce currently sealing Ganondorf. They are "dormant" as in they are not being passed to the reincarnations of the hero and princess. Think about that. Link didn't have his Triforce in the first BotW game because the hand holding down Ganondorf's corpse IS the embodiment of his piece of the Triforce. This may explain why Link was able to be defeated 100 years prior to the game. Maybe this is why Zelda couldn't tap into her power because it hadn't returned to her until calamity Ganon broke her part of the seal; perhaps it was the fact that Zelda was seeking to regain her Triforce that allowed the Calamity to return in the first place (that's how a lot of these stories go when someone is trying to avoid terrible fates, that they often cause it to be fulfilled). When they go down to into the caves beneath Hyrule, perhaps that scene where the green energy is flowing into Link's hand is the Triforce returning to its owner. If you notice, the green energy is channeling one thread of malice to the ceiling, but the rest is escaping out from underneath, likely because it's not being contained by Zelda's part of the Triforce anymore.
A random thing that popped into my head while examining the trailer.
Perhaps the Zonai are the interlopers if they hadn't become the Twili, shown by how their ruins can be found across Hyrule. The Hero's connection to the Triforce would have made him an icon/idol amongst the Zonai during that ancient age, much like wolf link is the form of the hero to the Twili. Perhaps it was one Link's incarnations that kept the interlopers from being banished to the Twilight realm at all, leaving them to become the Zonai. The green flowing energy coming out of the hand on Ganondorf's mummy forms TWILI symbols much like those seen on the Twilight Mirror. The ancient barbarian armor may be that of the Zonai, but the body paint is MUCH like the aggressive shadow form of the Twili people's markings on their body. (Loose connections, but hey, all the other races are in BOTW, so why not the Twili as the Zonai?) Also, it seems you could connect different Triforce pieces to different cultures. Sheikah = Wisdom, Gerudo = Power, and maybe, just maybe, Zonai = Courage.
Man you can really end up down the rabbit hole!

I think it's far more likely that he's being kept at the moment between life and death because the Royal Family knew that Demise was the reason that Link and Zelda keep reincarnating. They're afraid that, as a vessel of Demise, truly killing ganondorf would just reincarnate him and keep the cycle going forever.
So they tried to purify him.
If the soul is that if the innocent gerudo man being controlled and manipulated by Demise, maybe they're trying to separate his innocent soul from the Malice corrupting him and continuing the cycle.
Trying to free the Triforce Of Power from Demise's control by freeing Ganondorf's soul and letting him pass on, maybe to reincarnate as a positive figure in the future? Maybe to help them defeat Demise and the curse?
But with how long Demise had had a grip on ganondorf, it would take a long time to properly filter out the pure soul from the corrupted influence.
I think the tech around him is what's keeping him in this state and was created for this, the rest was coincidental because they never thought to contain the freed malice.

The malice is simply demise escaping him, I guess they just planned that the reincarnated hero and the reincarnated goddess could destroy the malice, the possibility of his slumbering used for other means could just be an after thought, or something thought of after years of not knowing about Gannon sealed where he is and being rediscovered and his soul being harnessed for power by the shiekah, not knowing what the original purpose of this, structure (if this theory they had in the videos was true)

I thought it was weird that the King of Hyrule would banish/shut down the Shiekah since they are normally the Royal family's trusted allies, but if a future monarch figured out a link between the Calamity and Ganondorf's sealed body it makes a little sense.
If excessive use of Shiekah technology had caused multiple Calamities to a point Hyrule had a battleplan for them one King might have thought "enough is enough" and ordered the Shiekah to shut themselves down. Then with the technology shutdown and Gannondorf still sealed the King might have thought the seal would just keep Gannondorf sealed for eternity, and it took 10,000 years for the next Calamity to even be hinted at instead of maybe a few generations or so.
The King may have ended up making a good call, but since a Calamity didn't occur for 10 millennia the people of Hyrule were woefully unprepared.
If your theory of Ganondorf being a glorified battery is the case I also wander if the Yiga honestly worship Ganon, or if they just covet the power he brought the Shiekah as a power source?

Like you stated, it took 10,000 years for the next Calamity to appear (or "be hinted at"). What if the fortune teller hadn't really been a fortune teller and instead one of the Yiga? Seeing as the King of Hyrule took the fortune teller at their word and ordered the Sheikah technology (and the Divine Beasts) to be uncovered in preparation for Ganon's return. Instead of it being the Royal Family taking such actions in an attempt to be ready, the "fortune" ended up being a sort of self-fulfilled prophecy, if you will?

There's another angle you could potentially look at this and that would be a transformative perspective/concept in regards to the franchise's mythological inspirations and basis, which would be christianity, in particular the holy trinity.
What I want to examine further would be the potential meaning and purpose of the fourth/missing Triforce piece which is commonly refered to as the Tetra force and who and what it represents.
Who is not that difficult, if we assume that the Tetraforce got lost, or purposefully removed and draw parelells to the bible, that would be the equvialent of Lucifer or the devil, a role that has often been attributed to Demise and Ganon well before, for multiple reasons. As Demise has been shown to be banished from heaven to the bowels of earth, which basically is hell, this would mean he was once part or played an equal role to the godesses, but was banished for whatever reason, which would explain why he was able to stand toe to toe with the other godesses and remains such an undiminshed force even now.
If we assume Demise wasn't inherently evil, but just happened to disagree and differ from the godesses due to his nature and representive trait, what would that be?
Let's examine this by looking over the series and what attribute was repressed and kept in check the most by the goddeses and it should become clear.
So for one there's the Twili and Kumula that both advanced in both magic and technology specifically, and both of them got seperated/banished and kept from the view of the common Hyrule folk and the same goes for the wind tribe in Minish cap that according to some fan theories got transformed into the Cumula, which would be one hell of a transition if not outright cursed existence. Then there's the Robot civilization, along with it respective dragon, which out of all regions in Ss, ended up the worst as it's dragon died of sickness, and the robots and their time chrystal fuel were lost to time and turned from ocean and greenery to a desert.
There's also the Ikana kingdom which opposed the Godesses and presumably Hyrule forces and erected a babylon tower to oppose and reach/mock them, which ended very poorly for them. The Twili are presumably connected to the ancient tribe responsible for Majora's mask and represent another indicator for a clan/kind that were banished from sight.
Last, but certainely not least are the Shiekah, who in their most prominent role, were shunned for their technology with the "good" shiekah complying, while the "bad" Yiga opposed this notion and sided with Ganon and his forces.
So what does this show us? We have a history of presumably millenia without any major significant technological progress and all advanced civilizations and outliers being shoved and forced into obscurity if not outright banned. Considering the possibility of a mythological connection, what does this remind you of. How about the forbidden Fruit in the center of Garden Eden? The one which the snake, a precursor or agent, perhabs Lucifer himself, seduced Adam and Eve to consume? What did this fruit grant again? Oh right, it was knowledge!!!
Why else did the shiekah who at that point were merely the shadow agents and executors of the royal family after securing Ganon happen to develop technologies that pushed technological and magical prowess much further than any of the other races?
Why would the godesses fear and keep those advancements away from the common folk? For the same reason Religion always pushed against and tried to intervene with Technological advancement, they fear their loss of influence and importance in their Subject's life and mind.
Also why does Ganon the reincarnation of Demise happen to receive the Triforce of Power, even in Twilight Princess where Ganondorf was stopped before entering the sacred realm?
Bc Knowledge is Power. Is it a coincidence that the Triforce piece of Power is right above the Tetra/Knowledge piece and connected with one another would form a Diamond, kinda like Ghirahim's clothes and his cape suggest?
Perhabs the Goddesses purposefully let Ganon reincarnate over and over for the sake of strinking fear in their sheep to drive them to pray and believe more in their holy guidance etc, in similair manner of old testament god, who let his jewish subjects be purposefully oppressed and prosecuted by other warring tribes, states, countries, belief systems etc once their belief in god and their will to pray started to slip....

I've thought since the beginning that the little "flashback" (pun inevitable) shows the hand protruding from some sort of robed figure in a lunging position. Check out the screencap and see whether you guys agree. It could be that this hand belonged to a very important Sheikah monk, a robed sort, headmaster sort of figure. The gold jewelry on the ghost hand is very much unlike the jewelry on the monks, however. Another thing we can't abstract from is the chamber itself, which seems to be riddled with traces of Zonai, whose angular aesthetic also more matches that of the bracelet on the hand. What's also very puzzling is the notion of Gerudo letters emerging from the spectral arm of a Sheikah monk (or Zonai prince, for that matter). One could say that these are whisps of the mortal Ganondorf's Gerudo identity, but that hardly dismisses other possibilities.
On the other hand, there's the impression of a very neat plan if we go by these two videos. As in, whoever went through with this manner of sealing Ganondorf could very well have understood that this method would yield the possibility of converting life force into energy. The Sheikah were the ones who developed the tech to defend Hyrule against another Calamity, so they had precise knowledge of the energy source. They knew the source because they "planted" it there.

    • @joub8600
      @joub8600 5 лет назад +13

      Ok, here’s something different:
Accounting for the hand’s affinity with Link (Wisdom-Power-Courage parallels etc), as well as the presence of a glowing hand on the hero shown on the tapestry (the one shown in certain BOTW cutscenes), we could say that the hand (and robe-like garb, as in the tapestry) belongs to the Hero of the Calamity, who defeated Ganondorf with a seal. The hand consciously shows concern for Link, suggesting that the sealer is still present on the sealing site, though all is left of him is is hand. The Sheikah, (fore)seeing that the seal was weakening, went to work with the energy-conversion plan in order to have a plan B available when the seal would eventually evaporate.

Sure my theory isn’t exactly 1:1 with theirs, but it just adds motive to my “Ghirahim’s the PseudoSeal” for WHY the Royal Family would make a deal with the Demon Lord (in disguise?). I mean, as far as Ghirahim’s concerned, Ganondorf’s Soul is simply slag, so what does he care they do with it?
(Especially since Skyward Sword heavily implied that Groose’s progeny ARE the Gerudo, and even gave him a goofier version of Ganon’s Theme, so his soul was prolly the anchor for Demise to latch onto to drag Zelda/Hylia and Link/ChosenHero into his Samsara Curse.
(But, Ghirahim wants Demise, not Ganondorf, so finally figured out a way to seperate the two (and Ganondorf’s Soul being leeched off as a battery is a convenient way to ensure that Demise’s Curse doesn’t fuse them back together again)
(Oh...and both the Malice and Hand wanted to maim Link? Ghirahim’s trademark is attacking Link with an outstretched hand? Just saying, although prolly not the direction that’s gonna be canon? You can still make a strong argument for it-stronger, even, after the 2Part Theory)

Hyrule Castle could literally end up being a giant colossal guardian lol. Just a huge castle-like divine beast with spider legs. Can't wait to find out what happens lol

To be fair, they did say that the guardians were supposed to come crawling out of the pillars around Hyrule Castle when making BOTW. A "Divine Beast" that produces corrupted machines, since it's powered by Ganon's malice? Maybe.

The thought of a castle sized guardian is both awesome and terrifying.

That would explain why the castle is not near the Temple of Time as it was in OoT .
I'm sure the castle is supposed to be near the birchwood where Undead-Rhoam has his cabin.

Well I feel the same its just too odd its on the EXACT spot his wound was at from Twilight and his eyes glowed the same color as demise when he woke he the king of evil an all but this is just fcked up what they did to him im sure the sequel gone be the hardest Ganondorf fight in any zelda series cuz he has 10,000 years+ hatred to take out an I cant freaking blame him

@@moondog3143 I’ve been thinks he has more than 10,000 years hatred since the attack 10,000 years ago was calamity Ganon again, a malice form, instead of a Ganondorf body. Ganondorf must’ve been sealed long before the attack of Calamity Ganon 10,000 years ago. I’m a year late but I just had to find a comment to add this on

@@coolspacecat7598 I believe that as well. With what little info we are given about what happened 10,000 years ago Calamity Ganon looks and acts the same. Not only that but they were all expecting Ganon like this had happened multiple times. I feel it's possible Ganondorf's been down there for an enormous amount of time. Possibly 30-40,000 years
