Hi Steve Love your videos . I bought one of these back over 40 years ago from Linfox in Melbourne. Mine had a 6354 perkins with a 5 speed 2speed diff overdrive box. I worked locally carting batteries for Dunlop to Ford,Toyota and GMH for over 10 years and the old girl never let me down. 10 ton every load and she never raised a sweat..Love seeing these older vehicles, thanks mate for bringing back so many memories.
Hi Wayne thanks for watching mate and the great comment. I’m sure it was a great truck and it’s good to hear about it. They made both sides of my family a lot of money over the years also mate. Great old trucks.
I love this channel! I hope it goes well for you and you can get to it full time. I'm pretty skint, so just liking and commenting for now... I've always liked the ACCOs, since I was a kid. All our garbage trucks were ACCOs here in Perth, and really only just in the last year or so have they begun to dwindle in number as the Euro brands take over. I learned to differentiate between the A, B & C etc models and always looked out for them when we went places. Good old Aussie engineering, right down to the trailer-brake clutch master cylinder ha ha! I don't have a truck licence but I've always been interested. I really loved the cab view as well. It looks hectic in there, which the shaky camera mount captured perfectly. Armstrong steering and two gear sticks! Awesome!!
Hi mate sorry for the late response. I’m glad your liking it. The trucks are getting the same here in Sydney. More European stuff now on those jobs. There’s plenty more of this to come
Awesome video. Your now a comedian as well. Lucky I don't have to worry about handling those king browns or Blue belly's or those very dangerous green belly's and as for those yellow ones. Thank goodness I'm going to be safe. Enjoy watching your videos very much
Hi Steve. Something to add to the history of the International ACCO trucks is that they also were exported to south africa. They're decently common over here. I've seen about 3 in the last few years. Although they're popularity was killed by the locally built Mercedes bullnose trucks.
Great video Steve, liked the educational part on how to handle those deadly snakes. That's a nice little dump truck, it sounds good, but I bet it was very loud in the cab. I didn't think it had enough horsepower to be able to move with a full load, but looked like it drove quite well. I hope you found a couple of King Browns laying around and tossed them in my package of merch or even a couple of those deadly green ones with the VB stripes.😀 Have a good week mate and catch you on your next video.
Hi mate sorry for the late reply, I haven’t been looking at the phone too much with work and getting ready for the truck run we just did. Glad you liked the video. It is a good little truck mate and yes it does sound good. The old Perkins isn’t putting out much power now but still enough to do the job around here. I wouldn’t like to take it up the main road, I’d hold a lot of traffic up. If I find any green ones mate your more than welcome to them. Plenty more vids to come. Thanks again mate

"Australian Constructed Cab Over" (ACCO). Built by International in Australia.... International Trucks where affectionately known as the "Inter" in Australia. When I was 15 in 1969, starting out in the building industry, my boss owned a 1955, AR162 flat bed truck, she was always "The Inter". She continued her service to the company until she was retired to the back paddock in the mid 80s.
Hi mate thanks for watching. I’ve always believed that the first one, AACO was Australian A-Line Cab Over, but some say Australian Army Cab Over, and the later ACCO was Australian C-Line Cab Over, or some say Australian Constructed Cab Over. Love this video, messed with my head when i couldnt see the King Brown until i worked out the joke haha.Steve, with hydraulic cylinders start the pipe or pipes first then mount it,hope it helps!!
Steve are you trying to give me nightmares I drove one of those old ACCOS back in the early 70s doing tipper work around Melbourne plus an older model with a Perkins in the late 60s then a 1950 on Interstate plus a few 2050s on Interstate, fortunately the trucks got better in the late 70s and into the 80s and 90s and up to the 2020s but now I have retired so it is all just a memory.
Hey steve, jim from Connecticut, love the old trucks, so basic, Easy to fix and reliable. Great education on the snakes. Hey what's with the blue brake fluid. Great videos mate
Hi Jim. They are basic mate that’s right. Basic and did the job with no stuff on them that’s not necessary. No comforts either. The brake fluid was from a bigger bottle I had in the shed. I tipped some in they bottle to keep in that work vehicle to get the truck going. Thank you for the comment and watching mate
That was in the early seventies. Had a coupla Federal single axle movers hitched up to single axle trailers also, a cat was put in one and a perkins in the other. Perkins leaked like a seive but went harder
Awsome video Steve! There used to be a tipper like that here in Bega. I'm pretty sure it had a 210 hp V8 cummins and road ranger in it, Used to love the sound of it. An old transport company here called Spenco had a twin steer single drive one aswell, they also had some old AEC's. Don't know where they all ended up.
Thank you mate. That’s great that it was still being used. There are still reported sightings of them every now and then around the area. I wish all those old ones were here with me mate. They would still be sitting somewhere hopefully and not cut up
@@stevesplacedownunder I know a bloke not far from my place who bought an AEC Monarch single drive tipper from spenco about 30 years ago, I'm not sure if he has still got it or not. I think he may have the inter aswell.
My old man had a table top butter box in Bega for years to cart tractors around on if your the same Chris ward I'm thinking you worked for him for a bit when you were on the tools
good vid Steve, my dad had 2x Acco's a 1800 and a 1830 tandem With Joey box and Eaton 2 speed diff, the later he had the Perkins removed and replaced with an air cooled Deutz straight 6 cylinder, I have memory of being onboard on a trip to the Thomson dam and the making of the Mulgrave freeway Stud Rd inbound 2 lanes! Double clutching is an art form, not many can do it. Just a fought, if Lindsay Fox had a fleet of these now would he keep Drivers in the seats?
Fantastic stuff mate. An unusual engine for a repower, a deutz. Great engine though. Very reliable. I have another one here that’s been repowered with a 2 stroke Nissan Diesel 5 cylinder, again, unusual. Good memories for you. No Linfox wouldn’t get drivers now mate in these. I here blokes complain about brand new trucks
@@stevesplacedownunder I remember it being loud even with the cover, but that Joey Box having to move 2x sticks and gold steering wheel and watch the road, unbelievable Dad, I still miss him
That old red mack could tell some stories Steve that waste company had a yard in Canberra or queanbeyan from memory .had lot acco trucks there for a bit
Hi mate yes it could. I think they were down there yes. This one may have even started down there. We got it from the tip here where We dig the cells. It was used to run the bins down to the tip face when the public came in and filled them up. Dad bought it for $600 and it was full of fuel😄. Bargain! Chassis is fairly well rotted out though. They would of had ACCO trucks mate indeed, most garbage mobs do
I nominate Steve for the first RUclips academy award! What project can we work on when I get there? A little seeing the sights but would enjoy working on a project, first start or an equipment rescue with you.
Hi mate thanks for the nomination. I have plenty we can do here. Depends on what you wanted to do. If there’s a rescue somewhere we can involve that also. I know you like crawlers, I have a allis chalmers hd7 that I’ve never had going that we could start up
@@stevesplacedownunder Is that a 3-71 or a 4-71? People always like Detroit starts. I’m looking at staying there 6 to 7 days somewhere from May 1 to May 15. What would be best for you. I want to get ticket soon.
@@stevesplacedownunder I guess I didn’t make that clear, I talking this year, 5 or 6 weeks from now. I’ve wanted to get to Australia since I was 18, why wait. If that’s ok.
Hi mate. Just saw your comment come up as I walked past. Thanks for watching. I actually had a 3070 but it had bad electrolysis. I put 2 liners in it and another one went not long after so I got rid of it. Trying to do it on the cheap, because that’s all I can do. Every time I’d walk past it I’d think to still have to get this going and it was something I didn’t want to do again so I thought get rid of it to clear my mind. It was a long chassis rigid bogie drive tanker that I put a tray on. I’d really like a prime mover one, or like you say a T-Line, either is fine with me. I will eventually come across one I can afford. I’ve been a little scared of 903 Cummins now since that one. I still have 3 though in those LNT Fords. Thanks for reaching out mate
Hi mate. I believe they did. I think I’ve seen one in a magazine with a tilt cab. Not many at shows here anymore. The one your father had was a good one. I have one here that’s similar, but 345v8 with the 2 speed diff. It’s a Rigid tray truck
There a tough old bus the butter box's bloke down the road from me has a twin steer with same box and Perkins as yours with big hungry board's holds close to 20 ton of Wheat gotta start in low low to get it out of the black soil paddock and just as much smoke if not more than that one 😂
They are mate. I like the twin steers. I have one here that I’m currently collecting parts for to restore. Currently it has a 5 cylinder Nissan Diesel 2 stroke in it that has been repowered with. 20 ton mate I’m sure she’d need every low gear it has. Perkins is too small for an 8 wheeler, but that’s how they made them. This one here struggles with the bit I can get on it. My one is worn out and certainly not 120hp anymore. Great old trucks mate. Thanks for watching and I have plenty more to come for you blokes
@@stevesplacedownunder yeah have a bit of a soft spot for the acco's and S Line's. Yeah she uses every hp to get it moving would have been interesting driving it on the hwy back in the day she would have been steady 😂. Yeah righto sounds interesting can't say I've seen a UD 2 stroke what sorta power does it out out?
Ha Ha don’t give up your day job as you won’t make it in comedy. On another note across the ditch Kaitaia Transport had a few eight wheeler ACCO ‘S powered by Detroit V8 and they towed four axle trailers carting livestock to the local meatworks. On a cool calm night you could hear them making from up to 20 km away. This was in the late sixties/ seventies. Thanks for the video
Hi mate no I’m not heading down that path. I’d like to have one of those 8 wheelers mate. I love those, especially with a v8 Detroit. I have 4 v8 Detroit engines here and I certainly know how noisy they are. A lot of trucks back then had these in them I’m sure. My pleasure mate no problem
Steve, do you get the cornback rattlers down there? The El Segundo log fish is one to watch out for too. Absolutely awesome channel, i love the old rigs and the wildlife exucation!!
Hi mate thank you. Yes they are power assisted. They work good but this one a bit lazy. Got oil in it but must be bypassing or something. I haven’t looked into it because it’s still working
Aussie was built on the Inter trucks especially the Acco ,, I drove a new 1800 in 1971 single drive , magic old truck , couldn't kill them ,, a mate carted 12 plus ton of cane on one , mind you it used to wallow down the road but never broke... In 1985 I bought a 160 , it started of as a petrol but changed to 6.354 Perkins it had a No 4 Eaton diff and I put a Fuller 5 speed overdrive box,,, bastard flew but hard to stop on vacuum brakes .
Hi mate. Yes Australia certainly was. Both sides of my family ran these on timber, both sawn and in the bush. Perkins was the go to engine to re power old inters. Got a 182 here that was the same. Started as petrol now with a 354 Perkins, 5 speed overdrive and a 2 speed eaton. All the older drivers I’ve spoken with have said the same about the old brakes on the old gear. Thanks for the great comment mate. Hopefully you can keep watching
Mate if they appear down they are missing or mechanism is broken. The ones that work are all up. I’d love to have them all in a shed but I have to keep my better ones in there. I’ve got all the stuff to build one but I need the time and the help.

I reckon them old girls like being pulled out of retirement from time to time. If a diesel isn’t working, it’s not happy. When I was a young bloke, we could could buy a carton of those blue cans for around $8. Not happy when they went up to $10. But the cans were white then. Tooheys fraught. Or KBs if you were unlucky 😅
I love getting them out mate. Each time I do I notice something else has deteriorated and that’s not good. I really need a shed mate, even for the bad ones. It’s expensive now mate. I drink the Tooheys New mostly it it keeps going up. I will still pay it though because there’s no other option. I don’t like home brew or any cheaper options. I’ve tried the Aldi stuff but Tooheys isn’t near being too expensive yet!😂 I remember the white cans. Dad used to get a lot into him

Hahaha ég héllt að þetta væri hættulegt dýr, en ég gaman af myndböndunum þínum. Hugs from Iceland.
Hi mate yes I had you all going.😅😅. Iceland is a new one for me in the comments. Magnificent and thank you 🤩
Steve are you trying to give me nightmares I drove one of those old ACCOS back in the early 70s doing tipper work around Melbourne plus an older model with a Perkins in the late 60s then a 1950 on Interstate plus a few 2050s on Interstate, fortunately the trucks got better in the late 70s and into the 80s and 90s and up to the 2020s but now I have retired so it is all just a memory.
Gday Rod, hopefully they are good nightmares mate. You’ve certainly spent a lot of time in Accos. It’s a great yarn mate thank you 🙏
so funny very nice job
I’m going mad mate😂😂
LOL! You had me going mate!
I resolved the situation mate😂
Alway a 👍 from me Steve 😊
Thanks Nick🙏👍👍
Another good Vid Partner 🍺🍺
Thank you mate. Hope your all going well out there partner
Got to love the Armstrong steering thay were a handful
Yes it most certainly is mate. Everything is heavy and hard in it
Hey steve, jim from Connecticut, love the old trucks, so basic, Easy to fix and reliable.
Fitted an Alison trans behind the 345 in a C1800 back in the day. Hauled barley out to the Tooheys brewery.
Hi mate great stuff. I think a lot cam out with an automatic also
That was in the early seventies. Had a coupla Federal single axle movers hitched up to single axle trailers also, a cat was put in one and a perkins in the other. Perkins leaked like a seive but went harder
Perkins are a great old engine mate. Many good trucks and tractors were re-powered with them, as well as factory fitted. Good marine engines too
You're a man after my own heart cobber
They getting rare now the AEC mate. I believe they were everywhere years ago
My old man had a table top butter box in Bega for years to cart tractors around on if your the same Chris ward I'm thinking you worked for him for a bit when you were on the tools
@@Thepigfromthepot yes I remember you now Reg was your old man
good vid Steve, my dad had 2x Acco's a 1800 and a 1830 tandem With Joey box and Eaton 2 speed diff, the later he had the Perkins removed and replaced with an air cooled Deutz straight 6 cylinder, I have memory of being onboard on a trip to the Thomson dam and the making of the Mulgrave freeway Stud Rd inbound 2 lanes!
@@stevesplacedownunder I remember it being loud even with the cover, but that Joey Box having to move 2x sticks and gold steering wheel and watch the road, unbelievable Dad, I still miss him
I’m sure it was mate. Great memories for you. Fantastic. I have no doubt you miss him.
It’s a 3-71. I will fit in with whatever you decide to do mate. Is it next year your talking about?
@@stevesplacedownunder I guess I didn’t make that clear, I talking this year, 5 or 6 weeks from now. I’ve wanted to get to Australia since I was 18, why wait. If that’s ok.
Yes of course it’s ok mate. I just didn’t think you would book it so quickly. Fantastic.
Good one!! 🙂
Thank you
i wonder if there are any tool manufacturers in austrailia now. interesting story about the snakes
How many cold snacks?.....all the f**king cold snacks 😂😂😂😂
Plenty mate😅
Would love to see a t2670 or 3070 or 2150b added to the collection with a video enjoy your content mate
@@stevesplacedownunder haha awesome mate thanks for the reply that’s a shame love ya content mate
In. NZ they converted these to a tilt cab. My father had one of these single drive with a 392 and 2 so diff
Hi mate. I believe they did. I think
I’ve seen one in a magazine with a tilt cab.
No mate but we have something similar, we call them Camp Adders😅. Thanks for the great comment and watching. Hopefully you can keep following 🙏🙏👍👍
Is the 2nd gearstick for a joeybox? Or to change from high to low range? Is that for a 2 speed diff?
It’s for a 3 speed Joey mate. Underdrive, direct and overdrive
Enjoy the international truck. Do the echoes have power steering?
Steve I wanted to ask why are the windows down in most of your old trucks
Mate if they appear down they are missing or mechanism is broken. The ones that work are all up. I’d love to have them all in a shed but I have to keep my better ones in there. I’ve got all the stuff to build one but I need the time and the help.
Had one, a "crayfish" all shell, no guts
I'm surprised there's not a Barkers nest or two about!
Accos are the best
😂
My ute has a massive King brown infestation any idea how to prevent it?
I have an idea mate but you probably won’t like it, I wouldn’t want to say it or hear it either 😂😂😂🍻🍻🍻🍻
South Africa got ACCO too
Hi mate have they really?
@@stevesplacedownunder Peter Lynch wrote a book on ACCo two went to China on a trade mission along with a leader 8 by 4 3070 did line haul for south Africa railways along with Pacific's and S series Oshkosh locally built
Yeah ok mate. I guess there were those few that were exported but were fairly rare by the sounds of it. I think I have that book somewhere come to think of it?
Heads up for you Steve when bleeding use a bunnings plastic pressure pack garden spray bottle $14.00 pull the spray nozzle off push some 8mm rubber line over it you've got a pressure bleeder pump it up with brake fliud in it start at the bottom open the bleeder with the line over the brab push the release button this pushes the air up the way it wants to go boom 10 seconds shes done
That’s how I did it mate with a pump bottle from the slave cylinder
You fecker you had me going there🤣😂
😂😂😂🍻🍻🍻👍👍👍
Me think you had to many brewskies!!! Lol
I certainly enjoyed that one before it was empty 🤣
What's the story on the red inter
She’s there waiting to come into the shed
Smoke in cabs 😂😂😂
There was plenty of that mate
😂🤣🤣🤣 careful mate
😂😂😂👍👍🤘🤘
Nothing like poking at a snake after a few brown sandwiches ae!
Mate indeed. If it was real I wouldn’t have been that close to it😂
You have had too many liquid breakfasts.😂
No mate this was late Friday afternoon. I may seem like a piss head but only get into them on the weekends and later in the day, unless it’s a special occasion 😅😅
You can also tell from the shape of the neck... we only like the red or green ones in Victoria...
It’s what you get used to mate I guess. I don’t mind a Melbourne Bitter one in a while
Butterbox Inter? know em well
Certainly is mate. Great trucks. I have a few of them here
Thank God you didn't come across a Bundy Bear, they are real dangerous......Lol
I used to come across them a lot in my younger days mate. I know exactly what you mean
⭐⭐⭐
🙏🙏👍😅
What a load of shit hahahaha ... Back in the 80s up at Surfers a xxxx castlemaine had a mean bit e too 🤣🤣
Yeah mate that was the 4x bitters. Strong stuff
Don’t know about those amber snakes? .But you I could see you were having a great old battle with the two cobras in the cabin. Cheers.
Dad used to get a lot into him
@@stevesplacedownunder 2012 up Cape York. XXXX cans were $90 a carton. But if a bloke wanted a beer. No other options. Good on you mate.
You’d pay it if needed mate indeed. Thanks again Mick
so bitchin!! i want one
Thank you mate
Not Steve Irwin, more like Steve Lager
Indeed mate😂😂😂
Don't get why the yanks and every other person from different countries except the kiwi's are terrified of snakes and spiders especially spiders snakes understandable but every single spider most are harmless ie the huntsman they just look scary i like them catch the flys
Those inters where made in dandenong just down the road from me
How good. Is there anything still there? A factory or anything?
Lmao love the king brown
I loved it too mate before it was empty 😂😂😂
Tooheys tap water Carlton draught is the best
I wish it came out of the tap mate
I got my car license in an old ACCO. I wish I still had it 👍🥲
Great one mate. You could drive any car after driving an ACCO. I wish you still had it too
