    watched it live from the stands after competing in this division earlier. still probably the best performance i have ever seen.

    I call this kata "The Knee Test" 😊
    He needs more hip twist and stance very low that's why when he kicks he looks like he's dragging his front snap kicks. 😊

    This is one of the hardest Kata in Shotokan.The participant didn't not perform a whole move in it.Variation techniques in kata for tournament might be acceptable by some referees.But deducting it totally is cutting like one hand or feet.My opinion ..It should be disqualified .

      I agree with you but I do not think he should be disqualified. His goal is to make kata more attractive, so he increases speed and explosivnes on the cost of technique. Unfortunately a lot of judges value explosivnes and speed over proper execution of techniques, this is modern karate after all...
