⏩ Video Question: Which German metal band is your favorite???
For live content catch me on Twitch. www.twitch.tv/drumrolltony
Blind guardian best German band no doubt about it.
Blind Guardian straight up is the best German metal Band. For a great live performance check out The Bard's Song & Valhalla live at Wacken 2016.

Yes, it's 2 songs in one video, but it is an absolute treat.
Quite impossible to pick just one, but to go clear of the usual suspects I'll throw you Die Toten Hosen. One of the biggest bands out there that very few people outside Germany knows anything about. ruclips.net/video/ahsH_xYJg50/видео.html
Well, I wouldn't find this video if I wasn't just looking casually for Blind Guardian about once a week.
So yeah - it's Blind Guardian, and I wouldn't limit that to just Germany :)
Besides Blind Guardian, Empyrium might be my fav german band. They just deliver perfectly...
Blind Guardian is such an amazing band with no bad album. They can do no wrong.🤘🏻 And Hansi is a godlike vocalist. Even after 40 years he is still just as good as he was in the past. One of the best.😍
Lead singer Hansi Kursch has also sung with Ayreon (prog metal/rock opera project of Arjen Lucassen).
The Day That the World Breaks Down is one he sings on along with 10 other vocalists, including James LaBrie, Simone Simons, and Floor Jansen.
God yes, cannot recommend Ayreon enough.
From Blind Guardian I would recommend:
- And Then There Was Silence
- Wheel of Time
- Mirror Mirror
- This Storm
- Battlefield
I think they might be the most interesting ones to analyze
NiME album is just a treat to ear that I cannot get enough of it...
Oh I adore Blind Guardian. Their journey from kids just banging around very fast, to absolute wonderful musicians writing complex, meaningful music, has been so much fun to witness. Thank you for giving them some love, they pretty much came along too early and they deserve the attention.
Welcome to the Blind Guardian rabbit hole! They are WAY under appreciated in the states.
So many great songs from them. For live stuff, their Imaginations Through the Looking Glass tour has tons of videos on YT. It's hard to pick a loser from them, so just dive right in!
"Born in a Mourning Hall", "Mirror, Mirror", and "Mordred's Song" are a few I like from that one.
Any song from Rock Hard Festival 2022 , Hansi absolutely killed it. “Welcome to dying” and “Time stands still at the Iron hill” are awesome.
HOPE OF ALL NOLDORRR
Look at the 2016 Wacken video of their closer combo The Bard's Song and Valhalla. It's a bit longer but totally worth it. And you'll know their standing in the european metal scene very quick. Gives me goosebumps every time.
From a music directors perspective, I would recommend "Sacred Worlds" because it has some elements of a "score/cinematic" approach but also their signature chorus and metal elements while keeping a natural flow.
I knew you'd love them. Blind Guardian always kill it. I'd definitely suggest checking out their live version of the bard's song and Valhalla. It showcases their influences very well both lyrically and musically.
Oh my goodness! I really like Blind Guardian, so seeing you react to this after the Jojo and Attack on Titan musical analysis is really exciting to me.
This was my first time hearing then. Loved it for sure!
@@DrumRollTonyReacts I also saw that you listened to Unlucky Morpheus and Lovebites, but not GALNERYUS, which is one of my favorite J-metal bands. I posted my favorite song from them in the recommendations section of your discord. It's a great song, and it even has a longer version on spotify.
Hey Tony, I just want to say thank you for sharing your thoughts and emotions. I think you nailed it!
I live in Germany and I listen to Blind Guardian for almost 30 years now. They are very unique to me, Hansi's voice is outstanding. I am keen on seeing them live in September 2022 in Oberhausen, Germany! I guess it's the 10th time I will see them performing live on stage. I love those guys and the way their music makes me feel wild and free. Thanks again for your reaction video, sir!
Thx for the nice comment
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Blind Guardian actually performed this song for the first time two years ago during the pandamic Wacken World Wide Show. Here's a link if you would like to watch it:
ruclips.net/video/b984ESqEO8Q/видео.html
Unfortunatly there's no audience but it's still worth taking a look in order to get an impression of what's it like to see them on stage.
man i love how you'll give anything a shot, ffxiv stuff.. blind guardian.. anime ops.. fuck yeah. you also give tons of insight to fellow musicians and break shit down in a way that has taught me several things.
also i JUST realized the song is about a book series written by Brandon sanderson who FINISHED the wheel of time for robert jordan, i happen to be reading the 2nd to last book right now! so sick
Live you should react to valhala or mirror mirror by blind Guardian, they are a classic live Band. Also well known at wacken with the bard Song or in That regard its more mythical in more Than one way.
One of my fav bands ever. Saw them live long ago, sadly only once but absolutely amazing.
Great video!
Blind Guardian has so many amazing songs that i love, I can't pick one or few to recommend. Or I'll just repeat after other commenters. Either way I hope for more reactions to BG
Gotta love the high distorted vocals at 5:10
The dual song video with The Bards Song and Valhalla live at Wacken or the live version of Mirror Mirror. The first one shows off both their variety in song writing and the incredible crowd participation. The second one shows the amazing melodic guitar work.
I really liked your commentary and I'll check out more of your stuff (hopefully you react to other stuff that I like).
I think that the production here plays a major role, compared to their previous albums, though it's probably hard to detect if you don't know those albums.
So I'd be happy to hear any review of their other new singles, but perhaps first some stuff from their past - and preferably the studio version, as they really go all out there.
I'm curious about The Ninth Wave or Sacred Mind from their previous album, and maybe even more curious about Treason from their (singer's and guitar-player's) side-project: Blind Guardian's Twilight Orchestra (or any other song from that unique, purely-orchestral, project). You can also go further back. For me anything from their 3rd album up is just magic.
Never heard of this band... intense!
Hansi...you need to listen to Ayreon like someone below mentioned...The Day the world breAks down is fabulous with 11 different singers and absolutely best musicians. You'll enjoy Ed Warby the drummer and Arjen himself plays synth, guitar, bass, and keys as well as composes everything. Dutch Symphonic Metal
