My dad would take me down at different times as an eight/ nine year old to show me the towers progress and then take me to McDonalds…. Miss those days and especially my dad who died in 77 in a construction accident…. Go figure. R.I.P.
I remember when i was a kid, me and my father watched this while eating ice cream. He always promised we would go there together some day. Sadly he passed away a few years ago and we never went. This has been my favorite documentary ever since, RIP Dad.
I think those men of that time won't repeat again, ppl with a different kind of dignity and commitment, bigger hearts and different kind of kindness, strong ability
At the beginning I was visiting the observation room I think that was in 1977 I'm not sur but I remember the restorant was not finish yet and not open.
I believe that the magnificent CN Tower was the worlds tallest free standing structure until being surpassed by the babulous Burj Khalifa, which I have had the pleasure of visiting.

Drake doesnt deserve to claim toronto The hard working and dedicated workers that worked countless days and hours under all odds deserve to claim the city
lol look at how open and empty the area is around the CN Tower. Now it's all condos, condos, condos. High tower building upon buildings around the area.
Marcela Trezza Listen the city is growing. If you don’t like it leave. No one cares about the view I can tell you that for sure. Local 27 carpenters union the people that built this don’t care so who the fuck are you than?
I was working the box office for the Toronto Blues Festival on the island when they were working on the restaurant area . A couple of gals from Chicago were asking me about it and I told them it was going to be a revolving MacDonalds restaurant . They believed me .
I remember reading about the construction in the Detroit newspapers. Once it opened, my Dad took me there about a month after the opening. What great memories....
I actually just came from the CN Tower today, I’ve been many times, but for some reason this visit I was so fascinated with the structure itself. So thank you to the brave and strong men and women who built one of our country’s beautiful structures and symbols! ❤️🇨🇦
Wonderful film full of memories for me. I grew up in Toronto and saw all of this happening. A guy I worked with at the time won a new Honda Civic for correctly guessing the time of the final concrete pour...great guess but, terrible car back then!
The tower was completed when I was 17 and our family went up to the observation deck. When i was 20, I worked at Sparkles Disco, a short-lived club at the top. I went for dinner at the 360 in 1986 and have not been up since. Like City Hall, it is a Toronto icon.
Interesting. Also how decus were back in the day. I was in Toronto a few weeks ago on a layover and made a dash downtown and up the CN tower. Great view. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to see more.
I would love to check out this spectacular city! I'll even do the edgewalk and check out the resturant in the tower as well. Do they take american currency in toronto?
Toronto's skyline is now a complete shitshow. The city was poorly pre planned where its traffic is some of the country's worst! They keep building more and more highways but it hasn't solved a thing.
If only it could become a self deploying pop up store, because if you think about it in terms of gap analysis, it already is within world history.Where technolgy can demolition and be created at the same time,by being totally random in a multi cultural city.
Did you record the sound off a tiny 2-inch speakered transistor old-style TV with a cell phone mic? - THUMBS DOWN - I didn't expect high-quality studio stereo sound, but by any standard - THIS SUCKS
When i was a little kid, my dad use to take me down to the construction sight to watch them build the CN Tower, i'll never forget that, RIP DAD.
He is watching you enjoy the tower in its glory.
IC BM
Aww I’m sure your dad has a way better view of Toronto now up from heaven! May he Rest In Peace and stay in your heart forever! ❤️
My dad would take me down at different times as an eight/ nine year old to show me the towers progress and then take me to McDonalds…. Miss those days and especially my dad who died in 77 in a construction accident…. Go figure. R.I.P.
no idea how he did that job hell no!
RIP. Thank god for OHSA.

Without CN Tower, Toronto wouldn’t be the same.
My good buddies grandfather died building this thing. There is a plaque for him at the tower.
Funkiest construction documentary I've seen.
stinkerton Hahahahh
Remember watching this documentary on the old floor model TV set on CBC ( I think ) when I was a kid in the late 70’s! Fantastic memories! 🙂🙂
Film Arcyciekawy dziękuję bardzo, jestem wdzięczna za obejrzenie.

I watched last part of the antenna structure being installed, it took them a while.

Matthew Weber Loves The CN Tower
I was there a couple weeks ago. Toronto is a different place now. CN is still a big deal.
I believe that the magnificent CN Tower was the worlds tallest free standing structure until being surpassed by the babulous Burj Khalifa, which I have had the pleasure of visiting.
Correct
Low-Fi 16mm optical sound.

I think this
CN Tower To The Top Construction Documentary is good history on the CN Tower from 1976
I think it’s narrated by Henry RAMER
Topping Off The CN Tower is another good documentary film telling about the history of the Tower it’s narrated by Richard Barrett
The Canron folks did a good job by constructing the CN Tower and putting the Pipe in the tower and lifting the brackets
So how long will the CN Tower last in a life after people
83 years in a life after people these are The last days of Toronto’s CN Tower
In the time of humans it dominated the skyline
The Tower will fail the cables in the elevator shafts of the Tower will snap and The Entire CN Tower heads towards the Lake Ontario the CN Tower The Worlds Tallest Tower is heading down under the Lake Ontario
46+ years of paid admission tickets. Any estimations on profits?
You need to stop doing crack
Wonder if those kids names are still on the top part of the CN Tower?
Probably yes.
Back when construction was free range.
It would be cool if the tower was double its size
That would become too big, the tower is already 500+ meters tall
Notice no condos now the bottom is hidden
i remember an epilogue with a different music, that is missing here

Sounds like a doomsday documentary! I was in grade 7 when it was built ❤️🇨🇦🌎
Some bits sound like the "Love Boat" though. 😂
Fun fact, this documentary was actually placed into the time capsule of the CN tower
15:46 what the heck
Film footage of Toronto waterfront activities early 20th century long before Harbourfront.
Toronto needs to step up their game and regain the record either by building a new tower and or adding on to the CN tower to make it larger so that it can be made taller. Might as well shoot for over a kilometer.
They would have to add 446 metres to it for it to reach a kilometre. That's almost double its current height.
where did you find this?
Drake doesnt deserve to claim toronto
The hard working and dedicated workers that worked countless days and hours under all odds deserve to claim the city

lol look at how open and empty the area is around the CN Tower. Now it's all condos, condos, condos. High tower building upon buildings around the area.
Better condos then suburban sprawl in the fields
Yeah because concrete and glass are so much better.
I hate how they are not planning properly and the condo towers are blocking the view of the CN Tower :(
Marcela Trezza Listen the city is growing. If you don’t like it leave. No one cares about the view I can tell you that for sure. Local 27 carpenters union the people that built this don’t care so who the fuck are you than?
Subdivisions, be cool or be cast out!
Brilliant. TV was full of shows like this when I was growing up. It was excellent. Shot on film, of course.

My grandfather worked on the observation deck. RIP
I remember the time when the Royal York Hotel is the tallest in Toronto.
Back when the tower was owned by Canadian National
Which was a Crown Corporation.
Who remembers downtown Toronto having that distinct smell in the 80's?
It's Huge I smelled it as I watched the video, thought It was just me!
What kind of smell was that?
I found this CN Tower Documentary. Great one to have.

It was all about Tour of the Universe
People forget that it was the tallest tower while 30years

This must be library music. Anyone know what it is?
The CN Tower is taller than the Eiffel Tower!
By Quite a lot! It was the tallest free-standing structure in the world until the Burj Khalifa was built in 2010.
Toronto was great back in the 50s. Today? Non canadian.
