Thanks to mr rogers (and years of teaching) I have no issue discussing grief and loss with little ones. They are smarter and more perceptive than we give them credit for. Hearing about how other kids and grownups experience and process loss can be incredibly validating. I also talk about how the sadness we feel now can't take away the happiness we had and in fact makes those moments feel even more special looking back. Also how important it is to make as many happy moments as we possibly can with others (even pets). That last part always gets them excited. It's so cute. 🥰
