2012 VW Vento 1.6 Petrol Automatic Review | The German C-segment tank that's OLD but GOLD | JRS Cars

  • Hey Guys, in this video we review the 2012 Volkswagen Vento 1.6L MPI Highline Automatic!
    With the 2020 VW Vento launched recently, I thought it would be a good time to review the origin of the Vento.
    Unlike the new Vento, which is powered by a 3 cylinder 1.0L TSI motor, this car gets a proper 1,6L petrol engine producing 103 bhp (105 PS) and 153 Nm of torque mated to a 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
    The Vento has been on-sale in India for 10 years now and unlike it's competitors like the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna, which have received multiple updates over different generations, the VW Vento has remained unchanged in terms of design for 10 years!!
    In this video review, we take a detailed look at this car from 2012, to check how the car has aged and compare it to the competition, both in the used car market and the new 2020 versions also.

    I completely agree. Get a used 1.6TDI instead and do it up. Yes, it won’t have nearly as many features as the new ones, but the torque shove from that engine is something else. I’ve installed the DieselTronic piggyback ECU on mine and it really does feel like a cut price BMW.

    I stumbled on your video at the end of 2021, when Skoda plan to bring their Rapid replacement. Vento will follow soon, at petrol prices howering at 115 in my city,buying a sedan is a big worry!!
    I liked your video, stating buying a used Vento still makes sense!! Ultimately, you don't go beyond second gear, in any Indian city( no use of 100km/hr dash)!! Now 'kitna deti hai' is important!!+ Keeping the build quality,WHY, VW IS STILL IMPORTING 1.5TSI is a big worry!! If they are assembling 1.0TSI, WHY TO IMPORT 1.5?
    By importing, car prices are going beyond 20 lakhs now!!
    And am not blaming VW, Most powerful Nissan 1.3 Turbo is imported, Now already left Ford, sourced their petrol turbo from Europe, Hyundai am 100% sure, would be sourcing their turbo from seol!! That's why, Maruti, Toyota, still are not bringing their much popular 1.4 turbo Swift here!! Pathetic situation!!

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  2 года назад

      Hey buddy. Its probably cheaper manufacturing these turbo engines abroad. Or there maybe more precision involved. In any case, for those who want performance, you have to pay for it. Its good they give both the 1.0 and 1.5 options.
      Yes, a used Vento is still a good option...

      @@JRSCarsWorld's First, second car manufacturers shy away from manufacturing state of the art engines in India?( Kindly read as Toyota,VW) What 'precision' you are talking about? VW manufacturers, or 'assembles' 1.0TSI?In 1987-88 Brazil, robbed away 'first mercedes truck manufacturing plant, outside Stuttgart', which was supposed to come to Bhosari, Pune.( Thanks to Sharad Pawar), even in 2021, Brazil manufacturers what we can't ( Kindly read as flexi fuel cars', which Nitin Gadkari talked about) If made in india VW, Hyundai, Maruti cars can be exported, why we can't make a 1.5TSI? WHY VW Invested so much money in India? To import what people want? Yeh 1.0TSI Gareebon ka engine hai!!
      1.0TSI Vento Automatic, in my city, competes with Turbo Automatic Nissan Kicks!!
      Buying used is tough!!! All 'platforms' are 'shady' or behave like any dealer!!( Cannot be trusted)!! If I directly ask/request the owner, he is snobbish!!
      In this scenario, I like Socialist( communist)!!
      They would have offered a quality car ( brand new) within 10 lakhs!!
      That's why I said, situation is pathetic, not right to buy any car!! Be it petrol, diesel!! Govt. Should bring down the taxes!! We blame the manufacturer, they in turn blame the Govt.!!! Ultimately, car which costed little over 10 lakhs, five years back,now costs 20 lakhs!! I can't even think of buying a 1.5TSI!! VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!! WE ARE HEADING TOWARDS CAPITALIST!!!

      @@joshihemant2568 boss, I agree to what you are saying.
      But look at it this way
      A Skoda Laura costed 15L in 2010
      A BMW 320d costed 30L in 2010
      Now, a New Octavia is 30L in 2021
      A new 320d is 55L
      The features and performance of the new Octavia, is much much better than the 320d of 2010.
      Blame taxes whatever, the money you are paying is getting you a better product, than the same money did, 10 years ago.

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  3 года назад +2

      Hi, gearbox is strong and has no issues. This is a 6 speed torque converter.
      The 7 speed DSG DQ200 on the old Polo GT TSI was only a bit temperamental and could fail if not taken care of properly.
      The DQ250 on the Skoda Laura also used to be prone to failure, if not maintained/driven properly

    • @JRSCars

      All modern engines can last upto 2.5L to 3L km comfortably if maintained properly.
      If you are looking at above 3L km, the diesel block will be stronger, but ancillary items like injectors and turbocharger will fail (due to our fuel conditions) and thus maintenance will be more expensive for diesels in the long run.
