With kare raisu, this is Eric favourite dish I think. He can live on this hahaha together with some fried food he used to live on these dishes first time in Japan. I think I'll make this soon for him. I have been struggling to come up with ideas what to cook so this is great :) Never thought of using white wine, usually I have sake at hand.

I was surprised by how good gyudon is in Japan, even at the cheapest places. I even made it myself over there, and it was probably not as good as Satoshi's, but I was happy with it. Back home in Denmark I've been unable to recreate it, because I simply can't find beef that has that very particular Japanese fat flavor. Wagyu is the most powerful example, but I found that every piece of raw meat that I bought in Japanese supermarkets had some of this incredible flavor. I've been able to make decent gyudon, but it always lacks that deep "soul", no matter how good my beef supposedly is.
