ABOUT: Dystopicon
In Dystopicon the players will live in a dystopian society in which they receive money in exchange to watch TV. With that money they pay services to cover their basic needs. Throughout the game they will discover the details of this dystopia in which the government monitors your movements but gives you freedom of choice.
The story will be told through gameplay, texts and comics. Take your time to explore the different objects and the mechanics in your first day.

I assume the world population in the computer game world is higher than in real life. I assume the rise in unemployment among married and unmarried couples led to lots of "mistake babies" being born. (If a couples is living off $50 a month or so after paying for essentials, I can understand why they'd take a foolish "gamble" on unprotected sex rather than pay $10 for condoms.)
I assume in this world after the rapid increase in the number of "mistake babies" the Trinity would make sure everyone at least had enough food. Theres only so much soil for android farmworkers to farm and harvest. The only way then to produce enough food for everyone (assuming they're already using GMO high yield plants and vertical farming) is to somehow divert crops destined for other uses.
Most of the crops people farm today in the real world are used to raise animals for meat, so a natural thing to do is to cull most of the animals and divert the crops for humans consumption.
Also theres only so many fish that can be fished from the seas and "farmed" in tanks and artificial ponds.
Presumably in the computer game world people can sell the insects they find to the insect farms and insect "processing plants" that exist in that world, just like people in real life sometimes sell their cows directly to a slaughterhouse.
I know that cows and chickens could be feed using insects. However I assume that The Trinity acted rashly dealing with the population crisis.

Because you know, we can feed upward of 30 billion with NOWADAY tech and no need to get to vertical farming if we terraform Sahara and Australia alone. Because all you need is heat(global warming says hello), water(once again, polar caps we've melted) and carbon(wonder what else is mentioned a lot when people talk about anthopogenic climate change, huh?) to turn desrt sands into the biomass rich soil. And a lot of workers... like for example androids? You're also suggesting to misuse oceans. Not to mention the little fact that you can just synthesize the biomass at certain technological level completly sidestepping growing part of the equation.

There it is, the least believable part of this game
The rest of the game just seems to be a chronically depressed person's life but mandatory and with more fees. But that part was stretching it.
