Murica or not, that eagle would kill you if it heard you calling it an owl. Eagles and owls are on-sight with each other. It's kinda like a gang war thing, only with less "tagging the wall behind Wal-Mart" and more "killing and eating each other's children."

@@Amy_the_Lizard I don't know exactly how wide-ranging it is, but it's not hard to find examples of owls attacking eagles and hawks (technically the same thing taxonomically) and eagles/hawks attacking owls. The most notable cases are always the Great Horned Owl vs. Bald Eagles, but it's fairly easy to find Barn Owls attacked by Red Tailed Hawks, Great Horned Owls attacking Peregrine Falcons (only distantly related to hawks and eagles, but close enough), Golden Eagles killing Great Horned Owls, Eurasian Eagle-Owls snatching Common Buzzards, Golden Eagles killing Eurasian Eagle-Owls, and more. That said, I haven't personally found any dedicated studies on how wide-ranging it is, and I do know that some species definitely don't get involved in the turf war (like Burrowing Owls, the cowards).
