@@jennynott3841 As I remember she was lovely, we were all primary age so it was quite overwhelming at times being under bright lights and many takes of the same scenes, but I do remember she kept us engaged in what we were doing and was kind, we had to travel in and out on the same coach as the cast on the days we were needed, I remember sitting next to John Woodvine as he had a lovely voice :)

This was SUCH an excellent BBC production and I truly appreciate your posting it, especially with such good quality. My only "complaint", for lack of a better word, would be to say part one is missing. The above posted video is only the second half of the movie. Someone else has posted part one but it's very poor quality and runs in 14 minute increments.

A nice rendition of the story, however, I feel the real secret to her success was her very privileged childhood and educational resources which were open to her. Her books were sweet but not for the poorer classes who couldn't read let alone understand words like 'departure' or 'obliged'. Her father had friends in high places like professional artists who recognised her talents like Sir John Everette Milais, a member of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood. There are plenty of other talented people in the world who could succeed just like Potter, if they had the resources and privileges she did, just my opinion.

Why does the suggestion of freedom from oppresion irritate you? Its a fact that so many women in general were forced to comply with societal convention to the day they died. Eternally submissive. If shed done what her parents desired and never defied convention, there would never have been her books. What's wrong with the commenters' observations that shed have a happier and easier time nowadays? It's the truth after all! It's blatantly evident that she strived for independence in thought and action. Why not be judgemental in cases where there's misery and injustice? Its ludicrous! Without judgement there would be no change, no evolution and no hope for anything better. Judgement is not a dirty word. It's a necessity at times.
