Lovely. The fiddle line is very clear in this arrangement, avoiding the temptation to let the guitar have it's way with the harmony.
I may be mistaken but I thought this was a harp tune originally.
@@walterbordett2023 You may be correct, it certainly has resonance with harp tune structure and range. I've been led to believe most all of O'Carolan's works were originally for fiddle.
The melody is indeed very clear in Yvonne's arrangement. O'Carolan was a blind harpist and composed on the harp, so even if the melody was destined for a fiddle it was likely written at the harp.
@@galleryofguitar Indeed, if may French isn't failing me, Pascal Bournet writes in the forward of his guitar arrangements that Turlough studied with Mrs. Mac Dermott, a professional harpist, at age 18. This, the consequence of the harp being the preferred instrument of Ireland at the time.
