Because the mage wanted to know where are the other moon elf assassin and where are the prince's. And Ronan wanted to get killed but the mage didn't want to fill he's wish so he made him to fear of everything.
Cause Viren thought he could use some change.
I want to see him and Etheri reunited in season 4!

@@kaitlynmarie1985 more to the point he's an arrogant idiot who is totally being used by Aaravos. Also, he openly favors Claudia and is an abusive dad. Also also, he betrayed his best friend to his death. Not my definition of a good guy.
You could say he's morally gray. He wants to do good things. But is too arrogant to notice what's going on arround him, plus as much as i thirst for aaravos, HE IS CLEARLY manipulating him into "believing" that his actions will save the human race. At this point viren is desperate and is slowly growing to like the power he has been given. I big PLOT TWIST would be if Viren joins the good side😂 that would seriously throw me off but i'd be kinda not surprised.
@@tanihehe Oh absolutely, though I wouldn't call that "morally grey". A villain who believes himself a hero is still a villain. But yeah, if Viren realized he'd been used he might very well turn against Aaravos. Of course, I think Aaravos is too smart to let that happen. I also have a sneaking suspicion that Aaravos' goals align with Viren's. I think he very well might genuinely care about humans. Aaravos uses dark magic and may even be the one who invented it. He may well have done so out of genuine love for humans. Remember how racist Sol Regem was even before he was blinded? It's no wonder someone like Aaravos might have decided humans were entitled to use the magical essence within creatures.
I'm over here trying to think of what Runaan would do if he had actually hit Rayla with an arrow or stabbed her with his sword.

He would probably realise what he had done and would regret it, but i dont think he was actually trying to kill her, i think he was just trying to scare her so she could back up
It would have killed her 100% if that would have happened the show would be ruined
