Explore the ocean with this NEW under-water Drone called the PowerRay from the company Power Vision. This little guy can hang out underwater for 2 hours without needing to recharge, and can find fish, drop bate, and more importantly take some awesome video with its 4K stabilized camera.
Like I mention in the video, this makes a great underwater tool, BUT I would like it to have a side motor to push it along parallel to a subject that I am trying to film. It is amazing what technology can do. Exploring the Isla De Las mujeres, near Cancun, with an Underwater drone is pretty incredible.

You can put it back together and make it waterproof again. Just make sure to take your time putting it together with the bead, the seal and the waterproof lubricant around the seal.
Then torque down all 46/48 screws tight and it will be good. Those things are not vacuum sealed and are put together by hand in china so when can be put back together as it was the first time when it was made.

@@JanSeewald It doesn't actually block that much more light. Search for videos of using a red filter for underwater videography and you'll see no significant difference in brightness, but a significant difference in the colour range.

That rubber gasket certainly will re-seal with no special procedures if you put it back together. It's different from a phone because the phone seal is torn and destroyed when you open it, but this one is designed to be resealable.
You would want to tighten the screws gradually in a cross pattern to prevent damage to the gasket when reassembling.
rjk I think he need to reseal in a positive pressure chamber in order to get a counter force acting when this sub (or any normal watches) goes under water
Water pressure is intense. Every 10m depth adds another atmosphere of pressure. This drone is claimed to be water proof for up to 30m. Therefore this drone needs to withstand pressures from 1 atmosphere to 4 atmospheres. Since there is no mechanism for adjusting the internal pressure, the shell inevitably has to withstand a pressure differential. So the question is, how big and what direction? With a higher internal pressure, the shell is overpressurized when the drone is on the surface and underpressurized when it is at 30m depth. With a normal internal pressure, the drone is either in balance or underpressurized. Thus the shell only has to withstand one direction of pressure and it saves you from having a pressure chamber when assembling the drone. Of course, in this case the pressure differential the drone shell has to withstand is larger.
So it comes down to a decision by the engineer behind this thing. Honestly, my guess is that no internal pressure (just 1 atmosphere) is used.
rjk you're right phones use an adhesive rather than a rubber gasket like you see here. This will definitely reseal just how it came

That was one of the strangest statements I've ever heard. If I'm interpreting his statement correctly, he's implying that this drone will NEVER be waterproof/resistant again since he's dismantled it...a statement that is demonstrably false.
Anyone who has a whole house water filter (20BB's and the like) will recognize this method of waterproofing as very user serviceable >and easily resealabledoesn't get twisted and sheared< when the filter housing is put back on... And even THEN the filter ones work well enough that you can many times re-use the gasket rings if they're not stretched too much (Dow Corning Valve Lube and Sealer is excellent for these types of applications).
@@oznerol256 It seems like a mod to the drone to put in a pressurizing port would be useful. You could pressurize it on site if you were going to go deeper that usual, conceptually getting perhaps double the depth limit depending on how much pressure you put in at the surface.
The underwater museum is a place I hope to dive one day in Mexico.
something I think would be easy to install for the manufacturer would be a compass read out similar to what a scuba diver uses to orient themselves how to get back to the dive boat or where their going. This sounds like a big resolve to the constant problems you were having in orientating ones self to location or direct of travel.

Once you open the case it’s not waterproof but you want to keep it for parts. Wouldn’t replacing parts put you in the same situation?
I do repairs on these at work and they’re still water resistant once shut after opening. You just need to be sure to seal it properly. I would not recommend opening it due to the fact that the rubber gasket can expand and at that point you will need to replace the gasket
Great work guys! "the island of the ladies" looks like the perfect place to test that out. That clear grease looks, quacks, and slicks like 3M silicone paste. Great choice for material longevity and waterproofing.

I agree, it needs on prop up front that point sideways so you can "steer" the drone in the direction you want, it would work because you wouldn't need it on all the time, only when you need to steer, so you'll still get excellent battery life :D
i like it.. by the way.. Radio waves shift 90degrees under water. water is a diamagnetic material. it will push away from a magnetic field. so one would have to create antenna out of diamagnetic materials or paramagnetic materials to try to get a radio wave out in the proper direction. putting a mylar balloon on a drone to assist in lift has been a plan for a long time. using hydrogen gas instead of helium gives you additional lift for cheaper than helium. since mylar balloons can have a metallic coating . they can't build a static charge.. anyway.. making the balloons releasable might be fun too.. this way you get your drone up in the air with minimum power usage.. or hover with minimum power.

That grease on that you can reseal the drone that is water proof grease you can get from a swimming pool store. It is used to reseal the clean out drain. And you have to open that up every day.

Since it uses RJ45 copper Ethernet cables, which has a limited range of around 300 ft, you can get rid of the copper cable and replace it with single-mode fiber, which btw can stretch up to 30 miles without a repeater if your end-to-end lasers are powerful enough. Also, if you can take those plastic caps and cast them into aluminum, you could probably double or triple your depth. I'd use the copper Ethernet for power because you can send 48 volts over Ethernet twisted pair wires called Power Over Ethernet (POE) and I'd used the fiber for data storage, however POE only has a limited range of 328 ft. Have 8x4TB SSDs stored in a NAS that has a 10Gbps SFP+ fiber NIC on the boat then set it to live stream recording in 4K or 8K footage through fiber on the PowerRay.

Underwater drones are amazing for those fishing trips out on the reefs.
Has it been attacked by sharks yet lol. I’d go red instead of white. Less chance of fish seeing. Depending on water temp and color red is usually hardest color on spectrum for fish to see.
Most fishes hunt with their other senses like nose colors dont matter much if u know that much about sharks u should that shark attacks are rare or by mistakes.
