This is the most straightforward, helpful explanation of the topic that I’ve heard. Thank you Miranda!

I was always a perfect, if too-slim and small-framed, hourglass. In my forties, though, my waist just gradually thickened about 4 inches, without weight gain! If I lose weight, I don’t need to lose much, my proportions don’t change one bit. I consider myself lucky that my bust, shoulders and hips are so equal, but my goal is always to find clothes that fit my waist and make it appear more defined. It seems that nearly every woman my age, and men, too, get this thickening waist.

As a teenager, I'm delighted you have made this video. I have had a lot of body image issues because of how unflattering recent trends look on me (here in Spain everyone is now into oversized and structured clothes) but this channel is helping me to understand that is not my problem

Julia this makes me so happy! Delighted I am helping you - the best outfit in your wardrobe is confidence and you deserve to look and feel good! If you don't love a trend then you are so right to find something else that suits you better.

Hi Miranda...... love that you are able to share such personal details about your own body image 🥰 thank you so much for that ... I am definitely an hour glass ...having said that I reckon I’m probably more of a pear now as I’ve got older .. I find flares and shoulder pads help 😅...my middle is not as svelte 🤣...my waist used to be much smaller ....really looking forward to seeing more of your style suggestions... I love anything that has a 70s feel and a hat really helps 🤣.. love Pauline xx❤️

I've just seen your videos and have watched the one about body shape basics. I found your content very refreshing and honest and I look forward to watching more of your content. It can be hard to find good things about our bodies when fashion seems to be aimed at tall, thin people and we are shorter and much more rounded. However, I really believe we all deserve to feel good in our clothes, which is one of the reasons I now have started to make my own so I can wear what I want rather than the few garments available to me. I also think the proportions of our garments can enhance our look, for instance where our tops end and whether we have a different colour on the top than the bottom etc. Hopefully you will look at these proportions in later videos.

I definitely shall - so important! We do ALL deserve to feel good in our clothes - one of my mantras is that 'every woman deserves to feel beautiful' - and I want to help you achieve this - and I'm so impressed you make your own clothes!

I am so glad you love your body now! ♡ I also love seeing how passionate you are :)
I have put on 25kgs due to medication in the last couple of years. My style has gone down the drain lol. I wear men's XXXL crew neck t-shirts with leggings or longer skirts. I am just now learning about body shapes and clothing with the Kibble method, and about skin tone+fashion/clothing. It's very tricky for me to understand lol, but it's definitely interesting!
I find it super difficult to shop because I'm super fussy. I only like to wear crew necks or slightly round. I only like navy blue, burgundy, dark purple, dark green, black and certian floral prints. I also only like about 4 different types of fabrics. Dont like wearing anything fitted, sleeveless, or anything that defines the breasts or waist. I like simple, baggy and minimal.
My shoulders are my broadest, and I carry the weight in my abdomen and upper body.
Dispite my personal fussyness, I appreciate many different styles ☺

Just liked and subscribed - really interesting, thank you. I guess we all have a lot. I am not a true hour glass but people think I am. However, I have an apple - all the front which may or may not be an IBS related tummy and I'm a slight pear with a very flat bottom. I love trousers but to fit my tum there's excess fabric on my bum. I'm also short so I've never cracked where hemlines for tops, jackets, etc should fall. The French tucks work to a degree but there's often tonnes of fabric left at the back. I read an article that midlife chic did on short and long necks and not only what necklines you should pick but how high your roll neck or turtle neck should be. It was a real eye opener and worked. Since then I've been fascinated with that aspect of style.

The article sounds fascinating. The main thing is to really check your measurements (as per my method video) and then you'll have a really clear picture as to what you are... then I can start to help you! I have lots of great styling tips and tricks coming up for petites, short ladies, thick middles and all body shapes - so stay tuned!

    Hiya
I’ve just found your channel via TikTok and I must say, I’m loving it. I’ve only recently really started thinking about my wardrobe and style. In my 20s I spent my life either in a suit or rugby top and jeans, my 30s & 40s were the maternity years so I took a back seat. Now that my children are flying the nest ☹️ it’s time to refocus on me. I can already see your channel is going to be really useful to help me create a workable wardrobe. I’m lovely your advice so far and your passion is infectious. I’m looking forward to more excellent content and discovering my shape, I have a sneaking suspicion I’m an hourglass.

Actually I find it quite fustrating to find clothes locally for an hourglass shape. Jeans don't fit around the waist, butt and hips, and dresses and skirts usually don't cinch in at the waist enough. Everything is usually so straight cut, I wind up getting a size bigger and talioring the needed areas down always.
And also most jeans sew their pockets waay too low for me, somehow they always end up nearer to my thighs than butt 😩

Really enjoying your videos, im hoping to learn which trousers jeans and skirts suit me, I'm 5 ft3" slim legs, hour glass with a midlife thicker waist, short waisted. I'm also having my colours done in Sept x
I've just done 3 different online shape calculators and came out as a rectangle, hmm, my shoulders 41" bust 39" waist 31" hips 39" I'm quite short waisted, do you think that's right?
