I hate to necro but just in-case anybody is looking for an answer in the future; They are currently working on a release for 1.20.x, but if you ever have an issue like this with any plugin, a good work-around is to use an older server version, and use the via-version plugin to allow newer versions to join until it's updated. To my knowledge, there aren't really any good replacements for PlotSquared yet, but always keep looking. Also, always support the original plugin creators, even if they're premium, everyone needs to make a living and Spigot leak/pirate sites are very risky as you can potentially get malware/scammed.
I made a skript which makes it so you only need to add 1 short line of code to create and add a new gen to the data base, including sellong. 100% automatic, i made 25 gens withen 140 lines.
You could make commands for it; for example in a command you set the variable to 0 ( for gen slots ) and for /start the command just remove the player from the start list variable (Join my discord server for skript help aswell)

This does not work for me. Whenever a player placed a gen on another plot or a road, it adds a placed gen and removed it, therefor is bugs out.
