Jay always looked and sounded like he was conserving energy the entire show, he was very "safe" which didn't fit the band imo. Eloy is perfect for them, i agree.
Jay is a great drummer but getting someone like Eloy is a no brainer. Dude is a generational player.. He’s been making us drummers green with envy for years. Nice to see him get all of this respect and recognition.

@@paveltumanow3788could be, it’s easier to handle in shows at this scale, but if you have a crew traveling with you with outboard and high end gear for mixing and mastering live, which they have, you can get a pretty solid kick sound for sure. If you ever get the chance to go to Eloy’s workshops, don’t miss it! You can hear his bass drums cutting through the PA, very consistent in dynamics as well.
Dude.....Eloy instantly reminded me of what the songs were supposed to sound like. So. Damn. Solid. No rushing. No incessant triggers. And damn do that dude hit hard. Perfect performance.

He's a great drummer, but he's using a different set of tools in order to do a different job in this regard. Nothing wrong with it, you just can't claim otherwise when the evidence is there. He's using a click because Jay absolutely refused to, and that's why the songs varied so much from set to set, so they said hey with this new guy, he has to use a click. They have always had triggers, even with Joey, that was part of his sound. They're not going to change their sound for Eloy, Eloy has to change his sound for them.
I always thought Jay was a downgrade from Joey and even though Joey rushed some songs and was a little sloppy especially towards the end it just wasn’t the same without him live when they played older songs. I love that Eloy keeps most of the fills and energy that Joey brought while incorporating his own style. He’s super tight and a heavy hitter which is exactly what Slipknot needs. It’s awesome.

@@magical2011 clearly not listening, theres alot of little groove changes , its subtle but done tastefully without changing the whole track, and not only that Elroy brought the life back into the band, he did the same for sepultura , basically any band he filled for changed the energy in drumming, go watch his older stuff he has a whole channel of him performing bunch of songs, not only he plays hard af, fast af, but his accuracy and consistency is also crazy af, the Engineers also played a huge role in it too, alot of the bass guitar tracks are more prominent in these performances too compared to other performances
Yeah, except for one tom ... if you know the song's drum fills you know how it goes and one tom has a very low volume. Eloy is playing the songs as they are so there are fills that sound "incomplete" because of this EQ. Or maybe it's just a mic malfunction...

This is what the best metal drummer in the world sounds like, this is another level. That’s the reality. His work with sepultura on Quadra is a masterpiece. To bring Brazilian rudimentation into metal is badass and I hope slipknot give him creative freedom to do so.

Teve o Iahweh, o pouco tempo que ele ficou no Gloria o cara gravou o melhor disco da banda que foi o renascido, com linhas de batera super animais! Fez revolução no Sepultura aumentando o nível de composição e técnica nos álbuns machine messiah e quadra. O cara é uma máquina! Além de ser um baterista fenomenal, por onde ele passa ele sempre faz uma mudança ANIMAL no som da banda. Aconteceu com o Andre Matos, Gloria, Sepultura e agora no Slipknot!!! O cara realmente é um orgulho nacional, um músico que merece todo esse sucesso. Com certeza o próximo disco do Slipknot vai ser INCRÍVEL!!! Se derem a liberdade que ele merece com certeza vai ser um dos melhores álbuns da banda!

I remember when Jay first joined and it was very obvious to everyone that he was struggling a bit with the material. Fast forward to now and the opinion seems to be universal: Eloy Casagrande has resurrected the Knot. Side note, VMan is going off! Way more animated onstage now.
Im sure Eloy made the original guys reminisce about the old days. Eloy was a fantastic replacement! Definitely brought the metal back into the band; going back to their roots was the best thing they could have done!.
They can finally perform "Custer" live again properly, and it's aces! Some songs have a specific tempo for a very good reason. Because groove is their function, and power is substituting for speed. If you disregard the tempo, which is the foundation of it's power.....it loses it's power.
Everyone in the band sounds a lot better anf cleaner now that theyre not rushing tempo and trying to keep up. Specially corey. Its extremlly taxing on a vocalist to do vocals properrly without damaging yourself and using good tschnique if youre playing at 0.2x extra speed.
They're playing to a click, it doesn't matter. The difference is he's playing in the beat instead of ahead of the beat and that's the difference. It's so goofy listening to non musicians try to sound like musicians because they heard one talk one time lol.
Also - To anyone still clamoring for Jay...Listen to The Heretic Anthem. Listen to how the fastest double bass parts now go for all 8 measures instead stopping 4 through and then going to tom fills like Jay would do to rest his legs. It's not a shot at Jay. It's just a different level man. That's all. You can go to Jay Weinbergs RUclips channel and watch his drum cam for Heretic Anthem. He stops after 4 bars because he can't go longer and remain consistent.
Eloy is every bit as good as Joey was. Maybe even better. He smashes Jay's lights out live, that's for sure. No offense to Jay but the proof is right in front of us all

I’ve watched countless drum cam vids of Jay and he always gives me the feeling the his fills are off tempo and that the songs are rushed. From what I’ve seen, Eloy plays the same songs with so much more tenacity, syncopation and power. He’s just better to the point where it’s elevated everyone else’s game. He plays at tempo and I’ve noticed it’s allowed more personality to come out of the guitars.
Slipknot hasnt sounded this good for a long time. Sounds like with the help of the new drummer, they have got everything dialed in and i couldnt be more excited.

Listen to how the fastest double bass parts now go for all 8 measures instead stopping 4 through and then going to tom fills like Jay would do to rest his legs. It's not a shot at Jay. It's just a different level man. That's all. You can go to Jay Weinbergs RUclips channel and watch his drum cam for Heretic Anthem. He stops after 4 bars because he can't go longer and remain consistent.
It's just that Eloy's drum style suits Slipknot better than Jay's. Jay is amazing and he's killing it with ST, I guess he found his real place
Eloy is every bit as good as Joey was. Maybe even better. He smashes Jay's lights out live, that's for sure. No offense to Jay but the proof is right in front of us all

Did you ever watch Jay play Heretic Anthem? He played it the exact same way? If the bass drum is prominent here the only change is the venue and mixing, how is this Jay's fault?
I mean, don't get me wrong, Eloy is also a monster drummer, but to say that "this is the best the band has ever been" and its because they swapped Jay for Eloy, is just a crazy thought, in my opinion.

@@magical2011 it was more of a general comment that the band is the best it’s ever been and the bass change contributes to it. I’ve watched countless drum cam vids of Jay and he always gives me the feeling the his fills are off tempo and that the songs are rushed.
From what I’ve seen, Eloy plays the same songs with so much more tenacity, syncopation and power. He’s just better to the point where it’s elevated everyone else’s game. He plays at tempo and I’ve noticed it’s allowed more personality to come out of the guitars.
