thank you so much! I followed the link and I'm about to purchase. I've been toiling day and night on a model of the human vocal tract and how it relates to the body. I want to animate body parts with complex relationships, and I just don't have the math skills to express the things i know about how these parts move. Now I will be able to focus on the model itself and the content.
Hello, Mister Opera. Did it work well for you? I'm also about to purchase this addon, but not sure whether it works with imported shape keys, sculpted in Zbrush
Any updates on the more advanced tutorial? Would like to see how a correction bone/shape key would work with this addon on something a bit more complex. Edit: Especially about limiting. I've noticed that once you go beyond the defined motion, it will inverse the motion, which in a lot of cases is not desired. Edit 2: Apparently these issues can be easily solved with constraining.
We have one planned, even the blend file is ready. But not sure when I can record it. As for limits, RBF doesn't have the concept of limits. What you can do is define an extreme pose and the result for it. Then move the driver bone past the extreme but leave the driven bones unchanged and set another pose. That will create a limit of sorts. Hope that makes sense.
@@CGDive It does make sense. I also experimented a bit with interpolation methods, and seems that might be a solution too. So either what you said, or constraints seem to be the way to go (if you want a dead-stop).
I am not the expert here. You should ask the creator on Discord... but the way I understand it is that RBF for Blender will only work in Blender. You can use it in your rigs to make your blender work easier... but it won't transfer to UE4 or Maya or any other tool even if they have a similar implementation.
@@RoujinEX RBF Driver developer here: You can absolutely use it for game development. RBF Drivers was designed not to interfere with your character pipeline. There are a number of users working with game engines. You can key transforms and shape keys and export in the usual way. No probs. I'm looking into making RBF Drivers compatible with UE4's 'Pose Driver'. Maya RBF systems are all propriety so that's unlikely though...
@@th3gr4ym4n Okay, that's really cool. Not being compatible with Maya might be a bit unfortunate, but not a big deal for me since I'm not planning on using Maya again for the foreseeable future anyway. Compatibility with Pose Drivers in UE4 would definitely open up a few interesting possibilities, so that's actually awesome!

No, once you activate the RBF diver, the addon can be deactivated and it will still work. Or you can send the Blend file to another computer that doesn't have the Addon and it will work. You only need the addon for the initial setup. :)
I am not sure what you mean... I didn't want to make the video 1 hour long so instead of showing how to set up the shape key driver step-by-step (which I may do in another video), I just showed the results. What did it look like to you?

It's both, actually. RBF is a way to calculate complicated stuff (it's too complex for me to understand lol). One of it's applications is in Rigging. It's also implemented in Maya, UE4 and other software. And it is also the name of the addon. :)

Great in-depth of the addon and great addon!
Glad you liked it, Fabrizio!
