    Hi there! I understand you are no longer using the resin but, was wondering if you knew of any tape I can use if I don't want certain parts to get resin? Also any ideas if this resin would work on cardboard/cardstock creations? Thanks

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  2 года назад +1

      hmmmm I’ve actually never even considered taping off areas so they don’t get resin on them. I’m not really sure what would work best unfortunately

    hope you enjoyed the video! as a reminder you can follow BTS project updates and video logs over on www.patreon.com/vaulfox or www.ko-fi.com/vaultfox/tiers. and a quick correction, at 11:52 I say only to mask off the WHITE portions of the helmet, but you should also mask of the back band of the helmet (where you'd want the ULTRAMARINE color to show through) I did that in the vid but forgot to mention it :)

    Do you do anything to adjust the fit or scale parts before printing?

    heya i have a question, im going to paint my mando helmet and armor in montana gold paints too, however since im a different country sadly i cannot get my hands the 2 in 1 filler primer :'] so i used motip spray putty as a filler for the layer lines and sanded everything smooth several times. however i think applying the paints directly onto that smooth surface may be a bad idea since i dont know if it will stick. and the color isnt even everywhere because some of the smooth parts show a bit of 3d print. so i was wondering if you maybe have any reccomended base coat/ primers that work well with montana paints and are a good smooth starting point for the actual colors? hope this isnt a dumb question xD

    Great Video as ever, thankyou for the honesty and showing us all the process, love the weathering. Lots of other artists miss the bits where they learn from their mistakes, they cut them out, so you don't get whole picture, with yourself we can see everything. You're awesome!

    Usefull setting I've found in cura is "Adaptive layer lines" this really helped remove the wide layer lines at the top of my helmets.

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  2 года назад

      I'm glad to hear it's a common experience at least! I originally wanted to transfer the template to vinyl and place it over the grey so I could do a sort of underpainting technique, but I didn't have any vinyl at the time and a TON of motivation to work on it and ... just ended up goin that way lol. and thanks again for the weathering tutorials!

    Dude, this vid came at the perfect time for me! I just brought my first resin container to finish up some armor and now see that YES and can do helmets (I found tons of nay sayers) and still being able to make them look badass is incredible! Thank you so much and the helmet looks STUNNING so you have all right to be proud of it!!! Also have you looked into frog tape? It’s way better with avoiding paint runs vs painters tape and adheres very nicely

    looks great my biggest weakness is procrastinating on each step in a project and not just diving in and doing. lose a lot of time this way. that blue does work really well once the weathering comes into play alot of people don't see the bigger picture with paint layering. I'll reference your vids when I try my fiest helmet. keep it up.

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  2 года назад +1

      thank you! and yeah, I procrastinate a lot with cosplay but having C2E2 looming over my head for this build really gave me the kick in the butt to finish (and perhaps a little bit of anxiety to help too lol) but I have some strategies I'll probably make a vid on regarding how I kick myself into gear. I was hoping to do the owl eyes by putting down a vinyl cut-out of the eyes and doing an overpaint sort of thing ... but I didn't have any vinyl at the time and ended up doing that chaotic mess to get them on. But hey, it worked!

      coming from someone who's done some stupid stuff in the name of cosplay and has the scars to prove it ... safety will always be an important thing to address to the best of my ability in videos, especially when working with stuff most people haven't been exposed to. I'd rather be annoying about it than have people go off my tutorials and hurt themselves
