The concept is that IGOR is falling in love early in the project, then he becomes controlled by his love, it switches paces at the end of PUPPET when IGOR "came to his senses" and then started falling out of love because he realizes that this love he fell into wasnt good for his health. "Love is GONE" and THANK YOU for the love we had. and then asking if the two can remain friends in the FINAL track. shit is FIRE
Maxwell Leko beautiful analysis, EXACTLY what the album was going for. Igor madly in love, experiencing all the stages of a typical relationship from the start of being in love, and that person that just makes your Earth quake (EARFQUAKE, I THINK, RUNNING OUT OF TIME)
Then proceeds to see what this whole thing is about, and Igor is mad and has no patience anymore (NEW MAGIC WAND, PUPPET, WHATS GOOD)
Then the relationship fades out as Igor comes to his senses with “My love’s gone” and “Thank you for the love” u know Thank you for everything, as Well as admitting that he doesn’t love him anymore (GONE GONE, I DONT LOVE YOU ANYMORE), but Igor is still in a last stage of “Can we still be friends?” (ARE WE STILL FRIENDS)

Tyler mainly talks about liking a guy who is down to be with him but the guy still isn't over his ex.
So Then tyler practically feels like "IGOR" the character.

I don't think the problem is that Tyler's love interest isn't over his ex, but that he's still with another girl. That's why Tyler wants her to "disappear" on New Magic Wand. I'm also not quite sure if Tyler's supposed to be Igor or his love interest. Probably the former.

I was getting the feeling like the dude who Tyler was with was still entertaining another girl.
And maybe the dude was hiding from his bisexuality or homosexuality because Tyler said he wanted the dude to live in his truth.
To me, I think he connects with the character of Igor because Igor is always mistreated by the scientist although he keeps Igor around. And in the midst of that partnership, the scientist is still focusing and putting his attention into building Frankenstein...which in the album’s context would be the relationship with the girl.
That’s just how I interpreted the whole thing.

I’m pretty sure Tyler is talking about being in love with a guy not a girl, hence “a boy is a gun” “don’t shoot me down” he doesn’t want to get shot/shut down by this guy, cuz most guys aren’t gay and will shut down a gay guy or if they are gay they may not be comfortable with it and it sounds like the guy he’s talking about has a girlfriend cuz in the next song new magic wand it sounds like him talking about getting rid of the girl that’s with the guy he’s in love with. “Don’t call me selfish, I ain’t sharing” he doesn’t want to share a boyfriend with the girl, “I need to get her out the picture” he wants to get rid of her, and also the beginning of this song says, “sometimes you need to close the door to open a window” so that could be a metaphor for him needing to get rid of the girlfriend to be with the guy.

This is by far the best Tyler album so far, it’s not my favorite, but it’s definitely his best.
jcp2017 I can see what you mean from an instrumentation standpoint because Tyler went all out in that department, but the singing is flat out terrible. I don’t understand how people are just ignoring how bad the singing is on this album.

Dxxminique Tyler has said for years that he knows he can’t sing. That’s why his voice is pitched on this album cause on every other album he would get someone to sing. Personally I like it but I understand how it can be unappealing

In a short summary, the story is about Igor falling in love with a man who’s already in a relationship.
It’s why he says he doesn’t want 60/40 and wants 100% of his attention.
They have a fling, but then he realizes they shouldn’t be together and goes back to his girl.
The songs detail the stages of grief and acceptance and stuff. When he mentions he knows the truth and glad he lived in it, he’s talking about his sexuality.
But for the most part y’all got the story!
Whole album is a story about how he was in a “relationship” with this guy but the guy wasn’t sure if he wanted to give up his ex-girlfriend and be with Tyler completely. Starts with Tyler’s love and infatuation for this guy (Earfquake, Running out of time), goes to wanting to kill the ex so she stays out of the picture (new magic wand), and eventually the demise of the relationship (gone gone, are we still friends). Amazing music and story. Definitely one of my favs so far this year.

I used to be an avid Tyler the Creator supporter for a long time, but I kinda fell off when Cherry Bomb came around. I would listen to his other projects, but I think I was getting to a point in my life where I wasn’t connecting to him anymore. Maybe it was the youthfulness in his music that I loved but no longer felt. Either way, this album reminds of moments from each of his past albums before this (WOLF especially considering that was the last one I really rocked with). The biggest difference I’ve noticed between this and the others is that he’s definitely growing as an artist... especially when it comes to perfecting a sound. The riffs in the songs, the chords, harmonies, etc. are all things he had experimented with for a long time in his sound and always said he wanted to champion, but it was obvious he still had a lot more to learn. I even remember him saying that he wanted to learn how to sing and how dope it would be for his music. The sound is so well put together and clean on this project, and I absolutely love it. It almost feels like I skipped forward and found the moment he truly became Tyler, the CREATOR. I wasn’t even going to visit this project, but I seen you guys did a reaction and immediately went to listen to it so that I could enjoy this reaction. Thank y’all for getting me reacquainted with one of my favorite artists during my high school years. Y’all are super dope!!!

You right btw. Entire album is a love story. It's actually Tyler's love story. He is Igor. Igor is a character from Frankenstein, a weird ugly creature that is the doctors associate. Tyler is comparing himself to him and how it would play out if he fell in love.
