We don't need to forgive the things shes done, but we can understand where she came from. The quartz was made for war, Roses war and lost everything because of it. Her views where influenced by Home-world and self hatred. Lapis is just unbelievable who didn't need to fuse yet did so to take her anger out on someone just for being trapped a lot.

I have read the comments on here and I just want to say my piece. The relationship between Lapis and Jasper are a example of a abusive relationship. They both treated each other badly while fused as Malachete, and it was toxic. Both are going through a lot of mental issues because of the relationship; Lapis being distant and angry, and Jasper being afraid and desperate. In the episode "Alone at sea", Lapis was still healing from the toxic relationship, and when Jasper came and threatened Steven, Lapis saw in no way to help Jasper and only protected herself, Steven, and Greg. The reason for this is because she needs to help herself heal, and due to her being trapped for years in a mirror and no one helped escape except Steven, she has serious trust issues that need to be worked out before she can help anyone else (Jasper and Chrystal gems mostly). As annoying as it can be, Lapis has issues and she's getting better, especially with Peridot around to help her through it. She needs time. Jasper is desperate for power and will do anything to have it. After being defused, she has been questioning her own strength and her place as a quartz soldier. Though, it's possible that Jasper's thirst for power doesn't come from being fused as Malachete with Lapis but when Pink diamond was shattered. She was devastated to hear her superior being destroyed and was unable to do anything. She felt powerless. And she can't let it go. She can't move on. That's the difference here: Lapis knew their relationship was toxic and when she was set free, she does her best to move on for the better, while Jasper refuses to give up and move on from the past because it is a sign of weakness to her, but she still struggles because of high expectations she has for herself and expectations of homeworld.
Everyone in real life goes through these kinda of issues almost everyday. It's quite sad.

I Absolutely agree with you. The Relation of lapis lazuli and Jasper of their fusion as Malachite was a 100% Grief of suffering, for both of them. Not just for Lazuli, jasper aswell. All jasper wanted was more Power and control to become something Innumerable, because as she now understands how reckless and weak she really is and as she tried Fusion, Fusion in the one thing that is on her Mind mentally and honestly. She's been obsess with it. All Lapis lazuli wanted to do is to Protect steven away from Jasper's hands into getting into him and to bring her anger to her Grasps. But Lapis never wanted this to happen in the first place, but she's made the disision to be stuck with jasper as the fusion fusion of malachite under the ocean for months intentionally.

Damn... Poor Big Buff Cheeto Puff, man. Favorite character. She deserved more episodes to actually reveal her sensitive side, especially her full on opinion on Malachite.

(For those who don't know, the Wanted Special leaks were leaked by a kid, and Rebecca Sugar during that said that Jasper was gonna be redeemed soon, along with Lapis and Peridot proofing and reforming with their stars.) 😉

Ah, I remember reading this. Really drives home the idea of how emotionally vulnerable and inexperienced Jasper really is. And there's a hint of Lapis' dark side showing through that threat at the end, which I like because I've always been under the impression that Lapis has developed some sadistic tendencies that she can't admit to.
Tell me Malachite and Jasper/Lapis relationship wasn't the best way to subtly talk about consent and abusive relationships and I will literally _never believe you_
Oml, I feel so bad for Jasper. Nobody ever thinks of how Jasper felt about this situation.
I think lapis and jasper both get to much hate but lapis needs to understand other people have problems to (and she and rose are responsible for jaspers ) and Jasper need to let go and move on from the diamond and homeworld .

I know this is a year late, but that's wrong. Lapis had the chance to poor her. Jasper could have been defeated by Garnet alone. Yet Lapis chose to make Jasper suffer on purpose.
You know what's really bugging me?
Is how everyone forgets that Lapis has been through ALOT. People say that trapping Malachite under the ocean was WAY harsh. May I remind you the heck ton of abuse Lapis got from Jasper? Rebecca said that Jasper ABUSED Lapis for who knows how long! Poofing Jasper would've been Mercy! Let's not forget that Lapis was trapped in a Mirror for 1000 years, she'd at least be a bit screwed up in the head.
Lapis IS getting better at this, at socializing and recovering, and she WANTS to help Jasper, but she CAN'T. There's no way she can.
Why did Lapis break Peridot's tape recorder? Because at first, Lapis HATED Peridot for only using her for information. This is often overlooked, sadly. But their relationship has changed since what Peridot wasn't as bad..
So, I have a question for you all.
Put yourself in Lapis' perspective. Would you still be extremely p*ssed that Jasper abused and used you, and that she's only apologizing now when she shouldn't have done what she did to you in the first place?
I agree with you, however Lapis abused Jasper.
And some people forget that Lapis is an extremely powerful gem. When Jasper asked for Lapis to fuse with her, she didn't have to accept it. The ocean was next to her. Garnet alone could've beaten Jasper, yet Lapis decided to put Jasper through unnecessary pain. Besides, Jasper is a homeworld gem. She was doing her job, what she was made to do. The "abusive" personality just comes along with the package.
I agree that Lapis is in the right in this scenario but her past doesn’t excuse her abuse.

wow that was so intense, i wish we had that in the show. Lapis seeing Malachite as a mistake, wanting nothing more than to forget. Jasper seeing it has her only chance to be stronger, i feel for Jasper in this but Lapis is right, no one can fix this for Jasper, but herself. Lapis's hug was sweet but she is not Jasper's friend the emotion behind this short video was raw and powerful excellent job

The moment you understand that su crew perfectly nailed their dynamic and showed how toxic, dysfunctional their relationship would become when the ship of Lapis and Jasper was alive like wild. This is the dark effect of fusing with someone. It's shown with Pearl as well, not just Jasper. When they are fused with someone, they are connected to that person in many ways. Pearl was destroying things just so she can be sardonyx again. Jasper in the show, hated fusion but wanted to use it again with Lapis. She got addicted to it and even Lapis says that she missed Jasper despite how awful it felt. Though this may be harder to explain as a bad fusion, Ruby and Sapphire even show this (tho they are a better fusion as Garnet) Ruby can't be away from Sapphire and yes they are in love but they can't really he their own gem. It's a beautiful connection and yes they chose it but they have never really been themselves other than just being Garnet. (Not showing hated, just giving my thoughts. Garnet is a better fusion that does show love)

basiclly drugs, once u experence it u cant let go of it
I see a lot of comment defending Jasper, which is kind of strange to me, i get that a lot of people like her, but her confronting Lapis over and over again shows how manipulative she is, abusers will often victimize themselves and make the true victim feel it is their fault, making them feel sorry for them, in an attemp to begin the relationship again. This is in no way of Jasper spilling her heart out, its her trying to break Lapis' so she can have her power again. Both of them abused, this is true, but Lapis' part was vented from centuries of torment and captivity, while Jaspers was only in the span of not even a decade. Jasper had the Upper hand of controlling Lapis When they first fused, from then on it was a constant power struggle. There was no shape or form of a good person in them at that time. Yes Lapis abused Jasper more then Jasper did, and thats unforgivable, but she has the worst trust issues out of possibly anyone in the show, so can you truly blame her for actions after what she went through? Yes neither of them were good people, but they both had a reason. Lapis' one to finally be in control for once, and Jaspers to have control over a gem who was even stronger than she was. Both were awful people in that time frame, but this does not give them an excuse to feel sorry for one of the other. I personally like Lapis, more so because of the fact that i too was in an abusive relationship once.

I wish Lapis would have tried to befriend Jasper and they move on together as friends.
I see a lot of comments sympathizing with Jasper, painting Lapis is the one true evil, and Jasper as "oh poor baby Jasper", but I'd like to input my opinion.
They were BOTH at fault. They BOTH made mistakes. Jasper is not a pure, innocent being. Jasper has likely shattered many gems, or at least hurt many of them, and hasn't seemed to show regret for her actions. She is flawed, but I believe she can be redeemed. The relationship between Lapis and Jasper is toxic from both sides. You can't exactly say Lapis was the innocent one, and you can't say Jasper is the innocent one.
And I can see from Jasper's point of view. She was raised, made to serve the diamonds, shatter traitors. The life she led was all she'd ever known. But she's still a bad person. Which makes her a perfect candidate to be redeemed. Most of the other Crystal Gems were also on Homeworld's side at some point, but they changed. So Jasper can change too.
Anyways, try to remember that even though Lapis made a bad choice, she's not evil, and Jasper is not a smol, pure, precious bean. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
