Sounds like the seed has been planted and when you start thinking about replacing the main Money maker then it’s time to change.
I would start emptying the yard……get rid of that other Unit, The coach and any surplus toys you have to raise funds for new Unit.
You don’t have time for projects anything you buy now needs to be making you money from the moment you have it.
Anyhoooooooos loving the videos and definitely more views from the Cab, some on the scenery is absolutely stunning. 🤙🚛🤙🚛

Get it away Sandy, before it drops a liner. A lot of people having that happen with that engine, yours truly included. That's got a lot to do with why they're not making good money.
A lad I know got his block repaired and oversize liners fitted recently, at around 500,000km.
It was done by Scania, for a very nasty 20k,+ vat.🙈

The prices that Main dealers charge for truck parts is shocking at times, nothing todo with quality, demand or anything other than massive margins since they can get away with it, the truck needs to be fixed

  • @marcobrian1619
    @marcobrian1619 5 месяцев назад +1

In my opinion.....the pre dpf and add blue trucks are way far better.....and more reliable.
Ok there's the wear and tear Parts and running gear is older and may need attention.
But least it's not like the new ones.....ok before break....then all shit kicks off when switching back on....
    It's a 50/50 split chap.
Go for old or keep your unit, and keep up with repairs.
Or get newer.......and take a gamble.
I know where my thoughts are.
IV no computer to plug in....but IV got spanners and hammer....
Good look in your choice Sandy.

Catch 22 situation, he knows what he's got but fair enough its got to the time its inherited all the little niggles older motors have, but on the other hand he could buy a great purchase on paper but end up wi an absolute plug and in the garage more often than not, so the way the he takes his next steps is completley up to him. Personally i'd crack on wi fit i know i take the hits as it comes.

Time for a second driver and start building that fleet! Old truck can run the lighter loads, new truck can do the larger stuff.
If one goes down then you have options.

Spare parts for anything are are rip off nowadays Sandy.
I recall going to the main dealer for a part one time but they didn't have one in stock that day so they gave Dingbro a call and they said they had one in stock on shelf.
Well I was given a purchase order slip from the dealer as i said that I would go and pick it up myself as I needed it there and then as it was just around the road from the dealers.
When i got the part I saw the price of it on the Dingbro computer screen and almost thought of just paying for it myself, When I was invoiced by the dealer for the part it was for 4 times the price it was on Dingbro's computer !!
The dealer didn't even collect it as I did that myself. Just goes to show how much of a mark up there is on spare parts 😢😢😢

Sometimes the newer truck is a better way as you have the reliability plus you no your monthly costs . I'm not saying new stuff doesn't give trouble but it is less likely to have unexpected costs pop up.

Hi sandy i have 3 trucks 2 older r500 and a year old 770s its a year old . I am replacing the 2 r500 next month with 2 low milage 2 year old scanias both will be scanias a 530 and a 500 . I have been in this industry for 36 years and i got like you wifh the older trucks needing this and that and then more this and that so i bit the bullet and sent shopping there are some great deals about and i had had ef buying parts every day .. . Now your truck has served you well but its starting to need a lot of bits that wonf stop ghere comes a point a decision has to be made .sandy look around there is some really good low milage trucks sometimes you just have to go out of comfort mode .work out tims labour parts time over last 2 years and be honest wigh it then go shopping you will find a way to getting a much newer low milage truck . Dont make mistake and get trapped in buying lot of new parts its done it job you made it good you are a great bloke vhard worker you make it happen you will get the work in to pay it off

Hi sandy matey 👍 it's mark from Wirral Merseyside 👍 it all depends on what you're truck is costing you every month on part's and what you are getting every month for jobs you are doing so it's swings and roundabouts every month for you really sandy matey 👍 or get the whole truck checked over and see what is wrong with the truck and what parts you'll need to put your truck right. But like you said that truck of yours is a great truck and it works hard. And there is a saying it's better the devil you no than the devil you don't no with a different new truck.... Just bare that in mind sandy matey 👍 thanks from mark from Wirral Merseyside 👍 hope to hear from you soon
