Nice comparison man! I have the zt1 50 and love it, I think it's a great design but my deck vibrates more than I would like my idler hammers around like crazy. I'm hoping for a solution, how is your deck in comparison to the toro in vibration and noise? Dealer told me it would settle when loaded with the grass but still makes noise. Thumbs up 👍👍
I have the ZT1 50 also, love the thing built like a tank for a residential mower, and a decent power output Kawasaki engine as well. Be sure to use the Kawasaki oil and filters at least through warranty period. They have a dye to detect wrong maintenance.... and that is a over $1500 engine by itself
@@timm.6391 they cannot deny a warranty by not using kawasaki components. I believe the magnusen moss warranty act applies to lawn mower warranties as well.
@@TheTTVert I stated that based on a friend who has a lawn business, a partner of his had Kawasaki claim denied for not using the Kawasaki oil with zinc in it. These engines have to have a zinc additive package to keep the bearing wear within spec. And he was informed then of the dye in their oil. Maybe others have been able to fight it. But it's not that costly to use their product. And I actually change my oil 50 hours earlier than the maintenance schedule says. Runs about 20 to 25 bucks for filter and oil of their brand. So, just for peace of mind, not a extreme cost.
Does yours have the Kohler or Kawasaki engine? I just bought the ZT1 with the 23hp Kawasaki and that thing is a beast. Though I will probably still ditch the stock blades for high lift commercial type blades.
And people don't realize I mow Lawns for a living what people don't understand that it is in the blade got to have the right blade for the right kind of grass

Cool, just check your manual, it's 2 bolts in front of levers to adjust and balance to speeds of them, pick a long flat run, push both full forward. Adjust till you track straight.

OK you having the shoot open exposes the blade. Take the blade when its off and rotate it around to the shoot it sticks out where it could cut you. So having the shoot up is a bad idea. Just a heads up.

Wade Fults Have you attempted to verify the MPH. I have the ZT2 60 as well, absolutely love it but using a reliable app that is spot on with my vehicles I can only get it up to 6mph, not 7.5. Any thoughts?

Wade Fults Thanks for checking it out. Yeah the 6mph that I clocked is still plenty fast enough to cut my lawn, I think Consumer Reports did a study and concluded that around 3.5 mph is best for the most optimal cut anyway.
Dusty B I donated the Cub Cadet to my son. He just bought a new house with 3 acres. I went back to the Toro. I bought a 50” fabricated deck with Kawasaki engine. I happy with that one.
I work for Harris county in Texas we use hustler mowers with a 60 inch cut Kawasaki engines it can cut the grass short the first pass no problem We mow fast at 17 miles per hour We mow very large sections that area you just caught I wood had cut it in 30 minutes or less with our hustler mowers we mow 8hrs non stop except 10am brake & 12 lunch we just go go go
Ahh you dumped all the first row in front of the Cub. Learn how to do a real and fair test bud. Don’t worry you will love the Cub. Our 54" makes our homestead look like a golf course for the first time ever and cut our mowing time to less than half over our top of the line Husky lawn tractor. Sooo much more fun on a ZT as well. Btw I moved the lift pedal to the forward position, put traction tape wherever I place my feet and added a lanyard to the shoot.

I know you no longer have the cub,but I'm thinkin that if I had one I'd take an angle grinder and cut off that lower piece of metal at the chute opening. It impedes the flow of air and clippings to much. A clean cut requires sharp blades and good airflow to aid in lifting the grass up to be cut. You can still get a good cut like it is but youd have to slow down alot and possibly double cut,which destroys the point of having a zero turn. John deere,toro,areins,they all have similar blades and deck designs, but have much larger free flowing openings than mtd/cub cadets.

There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
That bar across the opening caused me to purchase a new Ariens Ikon instead. I'm glad I went that route. Heard many stories about the Cub Cadet deck vibration issues. I think there is some problem there.
Just a word of caution for anyone who lets their child ride on their mower: you might want to make sure the little one is wearing ear plugs while mowing. Gotta protect those ears. Yes, I see this little one has ear muffs. Make sure yours do, too.

Jay Hall I just went to customer service at the store. They had one sitting there but I told them I want a new one in the crate. The person behind the counter ordered it for me on their computer with the discount (I showed my VA card) I had to wait a little over a week for it to come in. Wasn’t a problem at all. Maybe certain stores don’t have it as a “stock” item so they can’t order it for you. Try a different Home Depot

On 4/30/19 I purchased a ZT1 60" mower for $3400 at Home Depot. It broke after 3 hours of use. The hydraulic drives on these Cub Cadets have known issues. It has been in an authorized repair center for 6 weeks now. The repair shop estimates it will be another 4 weeks before I get it back. I urge everyone to not buy Cub Cadet. Their customer service has been HORRIBLE. My next mower will be a Kubota.

The ZT2 has the 2800 hydro transmissions. If you do a lot of cutting or towing or plowing with the mower it probably would be worth the extra money

I used Waze and went out to the main road and clocked in at 7mph. I have no idea how close they are with the GPS but its plenty fast for me.

I looked at the ZT1/ZT2 but ended up with a Kubota Z122E. You absolutely get what you pay for.
There’s no such mower as a ZT1 60”, you can only get a 60” with the ZT2...and you can’t get it for $3400 at Home Depot.

It’s a flat yard, they’re fine. He’s at least for hearing protection on the kid. Sunglasses or safety glasses would be a good idea though.
Please, do not mow with your little boy on the machine. I see he has a belt, but the risk is way too great.

I think a good father includes his son and teaches him and helps him learn. He has hearing protection and is more safe on the machine than playing in the yard and I would much rather see him on a mower with his father than inside on a video game.
