I was pretty lost too while watching but what I’ve gathered is that Keons is the bishop who died in the beginning and Tyler possessed, and from the Clancy letters from the trench era Clancy says that Keons was the nicest bishop. New Clancy letters dropped and I’m not gonna get into all of that lol but he says that the attack on the submarine felt deliberate (the Saturday music video) The theory is that Keons possessed Trash the Dragon to attack the ship, which was filled with Bishops and was some important event for them, so the other bishops killed him. His death made him an available vessel for Tyler to posses and start the rebellion from the inside while he was safe on the outside
Yeah, Clancy thinks that the bishops on the submarine are not the real ones. I do think that's real too, maybe the bishops knew that Keons were planning on some sabotage before it happened
Someone on Twitter said 'Takeover Tour' was supposed to represent that they were under the bishops control and possibly be a reference to this body control thing that seems to be going on and 'Icy Tour' indicates that they're still on this cold island. when they go in the caves you can hear the melody for 'Migraine' playing faintly because, according to the new map of Trench released this week, the island they're on is called vøldsoy which translates to 'violence' in Norwegian ('"Behind my eyelids are islands of violence" 'my mind shipwrecked, this is the only land my mind could find'). i think that the neon lights contain peoples souls/spirits when they commit to vialism, then they're bodies are available for the bishops to control by psychokinesis or something?? so by destroying the light Tyler destroyed the Bishop (like in bandito Tyler sings 'I feel my spirit is contained, Like neon inside the glass, they form my brain'). i think the Ned connection is that he represents Tyler's creativity so that is what Tyler in a sense uses to defet the bishops because people in Dema would be controlled and stopped from being creative, don't know how the bishops got some antlers though!

Great reaction! You picked up on a lot and this one has layers for days... It's a lore masterpiece and has always been one of my faves from the album. Like the way you put it - it's aged like fine wine! Ties together past music and lots of foreshadowing of what's to come. Migraine playing as they enter the cave, Morph with zeros everywhere, Ned and Trench lore, Jumpsuit cinematography, island of Volsoy = Island of Violence (just keep waiting for some crazed lions to come out!), references to NATN, and it goes on. Then overlay The Outside lyrics - "I've seen this one before' because he's given us so many things we've seen before, it's a cycle. Also, he's reached the outside of Dema. Then there's the whole controlling your demons and taking your power back and NED and beginning 'to assemble what weapons I can find' and... and... JUST AWESOME!!! 💛💙💛
So for me, Dema is not as internalized as I believe we commonly take it to be. I believe it is a representation of our society that can absolutely add to and deliberately cause depression. The bishops are clearly cult like leaders who feed on the misery of their captive population. For me, a song like "Never Take It," really highlights this external threat that seeks to manipulate and control your inner self, your soul; the neon lights forming our brains. The lyrics are pretty on the nose about "they." Personally, I believe this is all paralleling our current world, the awakening that is occurring and how we "little cogs" are indeed starting a renaissance. This album, and Trench before it, is all an acknowledgement of the serpents who hold positions of power in our world who are being exposed by the awakened masses on a daily basis in countless ways. For a long time, even before Trench, I always saw Tyler and Josh as Christian infiltrators into the music industry which is otherwise absolutely LOADED with occult symbolism and lyrics. Never being overt about their Christian faith allowed them to enter the mainstream in an otherwise morally bankrupt industry and gain a massive following through sheer talent and force of will. Tyler and Josh are indeed outsiders in that world, we are indeed "banditos" for supporting them and as "Outside" shows, it is now time for the takeover from the inside to begin. It's happening across the world, another renaissance, another golden age, another cycle. We will win against our "bishops." WE are coming for THEM now.
I too agree with DEMA being both internal and external, trying to find purpose in life, having someone their to buoy them up, showing them the path, and helping to understand their talents, fight against ALL doubt, finding relief and support in friends, family, commmunity. Think about the song “Shy Away as an example as “don’t circle the track…” records being used as a circle…that’s just one part of the complicated lovely human experience that is expertly translated by Tyler and Josh.

Also each Bishop is going to represent a different dragon I think so this time the bishop that died or whatever the fantasmic dragon the dragon from shy away that everybody said was trash the dragon or whatever I believe it's Puff the magic dragon cuz he comes off looking like that choker I'm not sure in a Saturday you have I believe it's fair wind from The NeverEnding story and then in this one you have again the fantasmic dragon and there was one other dragon that I saw in this I forgot what it was it was I don't know it'll come back to me but maybe the dragon from Dragonslayer the video game
