He was intelligent in many ways. Also the most emotionally selfish person I've been close to. Bad times. My current partner just isn't wired to experience anxiety (aside from regular life stressors). He's an incredibly relaxed and calm person, and damn smart in ways I'm not. He thinks I'm smart (VERY debatable 😉) because I bring up ideas/ potential issues/solutions he'd never imagine. He works hard to understand my anxiety because it's so foreign to him and he wants to do what he can to help. This one: a keeper (11ish years, so far).

@@Jessappleby I got a tattoo on my 18th birthday (they thought I was 12, but that’s another story) and it feels like your bones are vibrating inside your body. I got it on my wrist, it’s only small. It was quite painful, especially when the needle goes over bone, but it’s definitely more of an uncomfortable sensation than a painful one. Good luck! :)

I have anxiety and my partner doesn't. I recently tried *explaining* what having anxiety is like to him. I've _described_ the experience before. He didn't really get it, and wanted to know. There's shit like what I posted above, intrusive thoughts, and A LOT of other stuff... (DISCLAIMER: everyone can experience it differently).

@Douseiaisha Completely! (And thanks for the kind comment!). I had an ex who, bless his heart, was not bright. He didn't get it. I feel ya.
I also had one who didn't understand and did not care. He was intelligent in many ways. Also the most emotionally selfish person I've been close to. Bad times.
My current partner just isn't wired to experience anxiety (aside from regular life stressors). He's an incredibly relaxed and calm person, and damn smart in ways I'm not. He thinks I'm smart (VERY debatable 😉) because I bring up ideas/ potential issues/solutions he'd never imagine. He works hard to understand my anxiety because it's so foreign to him and he wants to do what he can to help. This one: a keeper (11ish years, so far).
