  • I finished up the seat and tackled the steering and pedals. Since this kart does not have a clutch I'm running the steering rack on the back side of the steering hub to allow steering geometry for ackerman. Lack of ackerman in my other karts has never been an issue, but since I have the option I may as well try it out. The pedals you see in the video are kind of a "rough draft"; I am going to re-do them in the same method but make them so they bolt to the kart instead of weld in (so they are adjustable). Just a simple change that I will highlight in a future video. Thank you for tuning in.

    I really enjoy these videos...i also don't think you talk too much as someone had said...the more information you provide for people like me to be educated the better...keep the videos coming my friend

      Thank you. I needed that. I’m not sensitive to the feedback but I do try and make the videos better from it. There would have been some driving action in this one but the pred 420 has been sitting a little too long and needs some attention.

    You read my mind on this one...I was thinking of using the GoPowersports pedals and steering as well.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад +1

      Only the pedals are GPS. The rest of the steering components were sourced from ebay or amazon. Those pedals turned out pretty sweet though and gave me some confidence in maybe just building my own from now on.

    when you're done and it's time to paint, the back finish of the pipe looks good, so I think you should consider a matte black frame with brushed Aluminium panels, and a low mounted wrap around rear spoiler👍

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад

      I will definitely consider that. I already have a black one but the matte black with the brushed aluminum would look pretty sweet. Not sure what you mean by the wrap around spoiler though…

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад

      The new wheel came in the mail mid shoot and I was so pumped to put it in. They look so great. I’ll give it a specific shout out and credit in the next video (I wanted to put it in the first drive video because everyone watches those). Thank you again.

  • @Tyresong
    @Tyresong 2 года назад

    A simple explanation of Akermann, most people say it's so the front wheels are turning around the same point which prevents either wheel from scrubbing or skidding, and allows both wheels to achieve maximum grip, which is correct... Adding Toe out on the other hand makes the inside wheel scrub on purpose... this creates additional resistance on the inside and causes a breaking effect on the inside wheel (electronic stability control does this also) the breaking effect on the inside tries to slow the inside allowing the outside to overtake it, THIS IS WHAT IMPROVES TURN IN!

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад

      Thank you, that is a much better explanation than I gave. The physics and tuning of cars is just cool.

    The cheap billet go kart pedals from eBay are the best by far to use, they have tons of adjustability aspects and there made really good too especially for $50!

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад

      Just looked them up, definitely seems like a good deal. I bought all the axle parts from gopowersports.com and just got the pedals while I was there. I definitely like the look of them; they’re a little more baja than the billet ones. Thank you for the idea, definitely putting that in the idea book.

    What do you think the overall material cost for this build is gonna be as you've built it?

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад +1

      So metal prices went up 25%… usually the steel costs under $1000.00. I don’t really have a strict budget for this one. The goal is to make it really safe as there are two souls on board. Should be similar to the single seater though.

    • @yamr6rider

      @@KJRaycing the single-seater budget build is the one I'm asking about

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад +1

      Budget is under 2k and so far I’m definitely under that. But again I bought the steel before prices went up. So it is probably around 2100 or 2200 until prices go back down…
