They have been told to leave, protesters shouting peaceful protest is so irrelevant. Obstructing officers from their duties, is breaking the law. Protesting needs to permitted, location and time for the protest. You can not assemble a large crowd, that is illegal.
Suspension and terminations for the students and faculty that is participating in this illegal protest. Universities needs to hold them accountable for their actions. So that people will think of the consequences for their actions.

I’m a UCI student. The Chancellor had been updating students via email that the school was in good negotiations with the protesters at the beginning of the 2 weeks, but negotiations broke down into silence shortly after. Still, the Chancellor was supportive of their protesting rights and willing to let them continue protesting as long as they didn’t overstep their boundaries. However, on that Wed, the protesters took over the Physical Sciences Lecture hall and the school had no choice to send in the police to disperse the protesters.
Excerpt of Chancellor’s statement: “At 2 p.m. on Wednesday, we, along with most other UC campuses, received the latest "demands” from the protesters. The protesters orchestrated a swift departure from their encampment. In a coordinated fashion they moved out of the encampment to the Physical Sciences Lecture Hall, where a small group barricaded themselves in, supported by a large group of community members who had gathered for a scheduled rally.
For the last two weeks, I have consistently communicated that the encampment violated our policies but that the actions did not rise to the level requiring police intervention.”
