    The key is knowledge! I DID give myself a bad kidney stone when I first started blending and juicing. Had to have procedure to remove it. At that time everyone was just using spinach and kale and no one mentioned rotating any other greens. I knew how healthy spinach was and I wanted to give myself a health boost so I was blending spinach every day for 2 or 3 weeks. I also probably wasn't getting enough water otherwise either. Oxalates do give some people problems and I believe spinach and kale have the highest content. So I haven't had any problems since I don't use them every day and incorporate other greens too.

      Hi Katty; I had the same concern with oxalates in greens. I had a hunch, so I googled, oxalates in cooked spinach. I was happy to see this removes the oxalates with negligible loss of nutrition.

      Just 2 to 3 weeks! Holly crap that's scary!

    • @Abrahamos
      @Abrahamos 2 года назад

      Kale has barely any oxalates dw. To get the same amount of oxalates as you do in spinach you'd have to consume a lot of kale. Oxalates are very small in other vegetables, just not spinach, rhubarb, beets and swiss chard.

    Sergei, I love your wild ediable talk, and heard it years ago. Mad that it's winter so I Can't go out to forage!! Have several of your families books. So grateful for your families work because I don't look as old as I am from eating lots of greens daily and weeds too!
    I have slacked off some lately so thanks for the reminder! So happy to see you presenting. Most of my friends don't get how good they can feel. I will bring green smoothies to try at our potlucks but most never try it. I get it all to myself! You and Valya are wonderful people. So generously sharing your knowledge with us.

    This is the most informative and educational video of 'super foods', that I have ever watched.
    I think it is brilliant for educating children and showing all the goodness they can get from eating their greens.
    I am learning so much of their benefits that I didn't know about and I am an old lady of 78yrs.
    I will certainly be re- watching this tutorial again and again.

      agree fully. Also, I rotate use of different seeds in there. Sunflower, pumpkin, pine etc. And, Watercress, rocket, lambs quarter, purslane, and nettles etc. Oats can help fill for longer if it's a time a meal may be delayed.
      Yum.
      I'm frequently told I look way younger than I am. Bonus.
      Very good informative video. There are thousands of fruits and vegetables around us, but many people are reluctant to try the unknown. Such a shame,. Many more taste and nutritional opportunities are being missed.
      Your videos may tempt more to try a wider variety. Good work!!

    This video just gave more evidence proving that human were made to eat a plant vase diet . so many varieties of greens to eat . mix them in a salad, blend them in a smoothie, or lightly steam them down .. Put a little herb for that spunk 🙌.
    This video refute the idea about oxalate being in greens hence poisonous to consume . its all about being diverse and creative 😎

    How much greens should you put into a 1 quart green smoothie for the day?
    What fruit would you recommend using for a type 2 diabetic?
    Thanks for any help.

    • @aquaholicsuk8873
      @aquaholicsuk8873 6 лет назад +3

      AstroTrain100 it's not so much about which foods to consume, it's more about what NOT to consume. My brother had type 2 for years, he cut out all meats and chickens, dairy (cheese, milk etc). Then he added, Kefir, sauer kraut, fermented vegetables, bitter gourds to his diet. He reversed his diabetes, high blood pressure and joint aches. He did add some exercise to his lifestyle. Try it for 3 months.

    Cellulose in higher amounts as found in tougher greens, are there to tell us they are not human food even if we blend them. Tender greens like lettuces , celery and baby leaves is much more absorb-able with or without blending.

  • @kprairiesun

    I once read that banana peels are more nutritious than the banana flesh and you can blend them in your smoothies. So I tried it. You can't even tell it is there. So stems should be no problem in a smoothie! If people want to cut the taste of some greens, just add more water! That's what I do with wheatgrass juice!
