I always love your videos. The most important thing is that your unbiased. Which is nice because there is a couple magazine RUclips channels out there that are completely unquestionably biased. Great job!
What a fantastic review, the best shootout I've seen in years. A little sad Honda got knocked off first place but hey they'll be swinging next year. If you haven't noticed, you have a lot of salty KTM riders in the comments that are upset you didn't give 1st to them regardless of the bike like every other review because of weight and power.
That's why you can read all the details in their article. If the opinion of riders in your class (size and skill) resonate with you for a given bike, you might be inclined to pick that one over then one that had the best average.
Unbiased shootout results. This is why y’all have the best shootouts. Keep doin ya thing 🤙🏼

I went from the Honda 450 RX to a Yamaha 450 FX and was blown away with how much difference their was between my Honda and Yamaha, The Yamaha is amazing specially with the torquey map down loaded for free from Yamaha, This bike is a rocket and it corners great, if your looking for a new bike the Yamaha won't let you down, I kid you not!
WELLIBEDAMN, saw your reply, I live out in the SoCal desert. We have wide open riding out my backdoor. looked at the honda because of the stronger motor for gearing it up, but the yzf450fx has wide ratio gears, does the fx have a map that gives it more of the higher hp, and harder hit like the yzf450f model. how strong is the motor with the more aggressive map. and what is the top speed on the fx. Thanks
I have the 450rx too.I’ve ridden it twice and it dies at low to zero rpms as I’m coming to a sharp turn or just completing the trim and dies as I give the gas. Did you have that problem too?
KD Customs Yes how could I forget !😮 and boats and home stereo and band equipment.they also make great car engines too. Lexus LFA has a Yamaha engine .
KD Customs . Not for the mass . Used to make the Ford SHO Taurus engine in the 90’s Race F-1 engines a while back . And of course outboard engines . New 400hp
Snappy Y no unbiased means that they put the better bikes higher, the ones that have had the big updates like the kx450 which is the lightest bike in the class and is just built better than say KTM, don’t get me wrong, Ktm make good bikes, so do every brand.
William Stewart actually when Ktm weigh their bikes, they do it without oil, coolant or fuel so they claim they are the “lightest” whereas say Kawasaki weigh their bikes with all fluids and they still just weigh lighter than the Ktm
I'm getting my new CRF 450R next week. I haven't rode dirtbikes in 16 years but I think it's going to be like the good old days all over again and alot better.
Very true!!! Most riders couldn't even use a decade old 2008 bike to its stock potential. Lol anything made today is above and beyond the skill level of atleast half the riders. Pretty go for color, bike feel/comfort. Some bikes seem to sit lower in rear, while others don't, some have different feeling seats, peg positions the feel of a shock/fork but they all can make you a Professional rider.
Yamaha baby! I was already going to upgrade my current Yamaha dirt bike with the YZ450, but you made that decision even more sweeter! Thanks guys for all your hard work on each and everyone of the bikes. They're all kick ass in their own way...
Travis Ethan I have the 450rx too.I’ve ridden it twice and it dies at low to zero rpms as I’m coming to a sharp turn or just completing the trim and dies as I give the gas. Do you have that problem too?
Great review guys. Thanks for the video. I was very curious about the result this year because i was expecting Yamaha and Kawasaki to be on the podium. Honda has a very solid bike with a lot of upgrades for 2019 so does ktm. I guess it was a pretty hard decision for test rides. Bravo guys. Thanks for the amazing work
Christopher Villarreal it's bullshit ? Lol 👌 KTM still has the best technology & components. Lightest 450 with the most horsepower too. Air forks are the future. Just look at mountain bike's ..... A few more yrs and spring forks will be obsolete.
I dont think so, all japanese brands are back on spring forks and a lot of ktm guys switch to spring forks too. Maybe it works for a mtb but i hope this will not be in mx in the future. I hated it, never works as good as a spring fork.
paul dayton is that why the Yamaha forks are regarded as the best stock forks? Is that why almost all AMA pros run springs? Is that why KTM constantly gets bashed on their suspension?
paul dayton not true, Yamaha has better suspension, better reliability, and overall its better. Ktm and Husky are to overpriced, and they are way to overhyped.
Getting the Honda 450 Works bike in September, that's as soon as they can get it in, here in Tn. It'll be my 1st brand new bike, since I got a 1989 kx 80 for my birthday.
I’ve always wanted a yz450f and it seems like a pretty sweet bike performance wise. Even my 98 yz250 is a reliable and powerful bike for its age. Plain and simple, Yamaha is frickin’ awesome!
Freedom Of Speech I have the 450rx too.I’ve ridden it twice and it dies at low to zero rpms as I’m coming to a sharp turn or just completing the trim and dies as I give the gas. Do you have that problem too?
I just picked up a brand new rmz450 ! This is nothing i would notice lol i may just have to dial in the suspension .but as far as power goes it should be fine for my weekly trail rides! Im comming from a 06 yz450f that i loved
All these bikes are phenomenal. I was going to go Red, but a friend of a friend has had a TON of reliability issues with his 2018. So I am going Blue....
Very interesting result. Definitely not saying it’s wrong, who am I to say?, but it’s a surprise considering the following: *feedback on the ktm factory and husky rockstar was that they were a better than the normal 18s and the 19s are meant to incorporate all/most of those changes and 18s were at the front of the pack. *feedback on the Yammy in other publications is that the small tweaks have made a big difference in the right direction, but it’s still flawed bike. I wasn’t sure where the KX would end up as it was all new. But the CR wasn’t a surprise it was up the front.
I mean I would be so happy for just one of these bikes. A brand new bike? That’s like a dream. And really unless you’re a pro rider most of this stuff is really not that noticeable. Even then it’s the rider not the bike.
Great Big Mouth 137 Just getting your suspension set to your weight and preference is a game changer. Anyone on any level of riding or racing would notice the difference immediately. And the chassis improvements that are made each year are noticeably different as well. The way the bike handles can be influenced greatly by the way you set up your bike, and that’s on any level from amateurs to pros.
Agreed. I just want a bike. Doesn't have to be new. I'd be so happy with like a 2006 or even a little older. I use to ride when I was like 16-19 had a 2003 RM125. But I'd really love to have a four stroke. I know they cost more money to maintain. But for me they are so much easier to ride. Like I remember when I had my 125.. I would use sooo much energy to try to go fast. Then I'd hop on my buddies crf250 and I could go just as fast... But would use way less energy!
It was super close, it's a first year bike with an amazing amount of good updates but there are a few small things we think that can nail that would put it right there. As you can see by the scores, it was so close with the top three.
We can bet another outlet will pick the Yamaha for the win and we bet a group will pick the Kawasaki as well. It's close, both are good but we had a little better rounded experience with the Yamaha. In 2017, Honda got third for us with an all-new bike and dialed it in just right to win in 18, for 2018 the Yamaha just missed the podium with an all-new bike but addressed the media complaints to a T for 2019 and snagged the win. Kawasaki gets a close second with a new bike in 19...if they hit those small refinements we think they can pick up a win in 2020. While an all-new bike is damn exciting, there's always the little things that ended up really being cleaned up the following year that rounds out the experience.
Vital MX I agree with you guys there. Either way honestly the yami and kawi are both my favorites for 19. Id go with either one of them, which ever one goves me the best OTD price, im taking ! Lol
It'll be really interesting to see what MXA says about the shootouts. I appreciate other outlets' feedback but MXA races and tests the bikes for awhile until publishing conclusions...
Cayden Thompson i watch MXA also but i am a little disappointed with their shootouts and their reviews lately. My favorite are Vital mx and kriskeeferinc by far
Christopher Alamangos You don't have to test the bike a whole year to have conclusions If you spend a whole week on a bike you can understand what you like and what you don't. The most 2019 models were available for test riding for more than a month. The test riders where already familiar with all the new bikes
Taylor101 Alexander I have the 450rx too.I’ve ridden it twice and it dies at low to zero rpms as I’m coming to a sharp turn or just completing the trim and dies as I give the gas. Do you have that problem too?
Lmao sounds like a bunch of guys in the comment section have had their feelings hurt by a KTM on the track 😂😂😂 guess there is a fan boy section for hating on KTM
The only real problem i have with ktm is they buy ownerahip of their competitors, then gradually phase them down or handicap them to make sure ktm remains the dominant brand. Maybe im wrong but thats the way it seems.
The main thing I dont like about vital shootouts are they don't put many hours on the bike. I know that other shootouts I've seen on the 2018 had 50hrs on the bike.
My faith in Yamaha after what I've gone through with my 18 YZ450F has gone out the window. One expensive bike to maintain. Hopefully they fixed the first year model issues. I've had 7 brand new Yamaha's and this is my last one. Great shootout video!
Dane Pescaia I’m on the third starter clutch $600 a piece, my second motor when the original went at 6hrs, and I’ve had to shim the intake valves with under 30 hours. Along with a bunch of other problems not necessarily Yamaha’s fault but added to the fire. I will never buy another one again.
I have an 18. 70 hours on it and the bottom end went out. Sucks because I have never had problems with Yamaha and always tell guys to get them because they are reliable. Debating getting a KTM for my next bike just for something completely different
so the winning bike is the one that took the least amount of work/time to feel comfortable on. what about once all the bikes were made comfortable for said rider? would that change anything?
We worked on all the bikes for multiple days and this was all brought into account. The detailed article we're working on will shed much more details on each rider's decisions.
what good is the fastest bike in the world if you can't feel comfortable on it? Comfort, rideability, and reliability should be at the top of everyone's check-list when riding a motorcycle even if you race.
During shootouts there need to be another category you grade the bikes on. The race category. Thank the best setting for each Rider of each bike and do lap times to see if maybe a #3 or 4 turns faster lap times even if the rider may not have liked it that much.
Mister, lemme ask this question. I am a fan. Is there any changes in weight if these 6 motocrossers would try to make them 500cc four stroke(standard) that doubles the displacement of their 250cc four stroke siblings instead of being only a 450 cc? Why won't they do that? Does it feels over powered? Or too much power for being a 500cc four stroke dirt bike is useless?
Crf 450r, kx450, or 250 2 stroke(husq/ktm)? Upgrading from 2015 150sx only reason i wouldnt consider a 450 woukd be the cost of maitenance/reliability.
Do you think the results would differ if conducted on the east coast as the tracks, soil and bumps are different. Just wondering our local tracks here in Florida look much different.
I have a 2003 Yamaha YZ250F. That bike has been absolutely beaten on. Hasn't had the oil changes in God knows how long. Air filter, rear and front suspension needs rebuilding. Yet somehow it continues to start, alittle harder to get running now, and still rides... well not good but it still keeps going. I'm gonna be putting alot of money into it soon to get to looking and performing better than new. Yamaha for life, because it'll probably outlive me and I'm only 21 😂
Really surprised about the Ktm not too surprised about the Yamaha. I’ve been watching these bikes as they come out. I have to say ktm is on my list of thinking about buying so is kawi and Yamaha. I’m not to big about the app but I really want to give that a try.
I will always be a good old Yamaha fan. Never scams people and when something was bad on a model next year they improved it by miles. Always reliable
@arborcidal maniac but its 2019 tho

True shit brother!! Lmao

KTM in 5th is a shocker!!
I'm glad I bought the 2017 model...
All bikes are very close.
Ktm is still the only bike with air forks.
The rest bikes have much better suspension
I guess this cost them a lot.
andreas stefanou yep and they're all e-start and getting lighter. The pumpkins don't have as much leverage anymore
Not really but ya
I agree...
So happy to see Yamaha back on top! BLUCRU for life!
Just rode a 300 husqvarna 2 stroke. Most amazing bike I have ever been on.
Can't wait for the 250 shootout!
Finally the KX has stepped up its game!!!!! Way to go Kawasaki! also a great video
Always been a Yamaha man, love that suspension!
Got a 2018 CRF450 and a 2008 CRF450 in the stables....the 08 has a pumped up motor, and suspension. Love that ol 08’.

Might go pick up the new Yamaha. Have an 18 honda. Grew up in blue. Miss my Yamaha days. One of the most bulletproof bikes I've ridden

so the winning bike is the one that took the least amount of work/time to feel comfortable on. what about once all the bikes were made comfortable for said rider? would that change anything?
We worked on all the bikes for multiple days and this was all brought into account. The detailed article we're working on will shed much more details on each rider's decisions.
what good is the fastest bike in the world if you can't feel comfortable on it? Comfort, rideability, and reliability should be at the top of everyone's check-list when riding a motorcycle even if you race.
What makes you think that rider's can't get comfortable on the KTM & HUSKY?
As we mentioned in the video, some riders were comfortable on them but a larger majority weren't. Different bikes work for different people for sure.
During shootouts there need to be another category you grade the bikes on. The race category. Thank the best setting for each Rider of each bike and do lap times to see if maybe a #3 or 4 turns faster lap times even if the rider may not have liked it that much.
I‘d go with suzuki😊😍❤️
Our full shootout, with all our rider's individual opinions is available here: www.vitalmx.com/features/2019-Vital-MX-450-Shootout,6162
Do you think the results would differ if conducted on the east coast as the tracks, soil and bumps are different. Just wondering our local tracks here in Florida look much different.
JForcino127 keeferinctesting will be doing an east and west coast shootout for this reason!
Michael Lindsay I’m genuinely interested to see if his ranks differ between the two coasts, and like you said he is really going couch to couch!
Im looking for a 2019 250f and was wondering what would be the best bike im thinking husqvarna or yamaha
I'm a faithful kawi rider but I may have to look into a Yamaha for the 250 class
Yamaha for life, because it'll probably outlive me and I'm only 21 😂
KTM on 5th! What? Glad you guys do this vids, I’m really interested in reading this 450 shoutout
KAWASAKI is the fastest and always be the champion..👌👌
John Alo yeah right 😂
Really surprised about the Ktm not too surprised about the Yamaha. I’ve been watching these bikes as they come out. I have to say ktm is on my list of thinking about buying so is kawi and Yamaha. I’m not to big about the app but I really want to give that a try.
Is the bikes getting slower by each year or what?
I dont know but the early 2000's 426 and 450 feels alot faster and more fun to ride.
First place, Yamaha. Im not supriced cus it's the best ;) (Proud Yamaha owner)
When is the 250 shoot out going to be out
When is the 250 shootout happening
yamaha on outsider side ?? what about it best in class engine and suspension?

Mean Green is the GOAT just look who rode the best, Ricky (goat ) Carmichael, Eli Tomac, Ryan Villopoto and Jeff Emig to name a few.
When are you going to do the 2019 250’s
What about TM racing???
That kawi is money bro
For those of you who think the best bike will be your favourite, you're wrong. It's personal preferance
Thank you
Yamaha FTW!!!🤙🤙
