It's hard to make new friends, at our age, Margaret. I'm in my 70's, a Grandma and I've been a widow going on 7 years this month. My Senior Center/COA is full of interesting people who enjoy social events, activities, a walking track, book clubs, film group, and just getting out of the house when you've been cooped up and alone for too long and it's free! You would make friends instantly. Your videos are a real treat!
I suggest looking for a used camper trailer, live in it in the yard and sell it again...still cheaper than renting somewhere else, and give both you and your family some private space. You will still be with Squish much of the time, so basically need the trailer for your down time. You can always find someone to move and park it for you, so you don't need a vehicle

I am an introverted extrovert, I am fine in social settings but definitely need lots of alone time. I am praying that you can find that needed sanctuary. ❤ you Margaret!
Margaret… watch a couple of great Netflix series and your time will fly by. Lots of educational programs you can find … just a thought so you’re not bored 👍. I walk the treadmill as I watch .. 😊

I completely understand. Life does change. People change. I’m all alone. My friends have drifted apart, and my family live across the country. I’m in my 60’s, I can’t afford to move to be with them. I wish I had someone to do things with, like go to festivals, car shows, community events, or just to a park to walk. Exactly as you said, safety issues. Other than work I’m stuck in my house. Although, like you, I enjoy my own company. Once in a while I wish I had someone to call and say “Let’s go….” I agree with a previous comment “You do you.” Don’t stress because you put up a video once a week. I appreciate that video. I feel like I have a friend, am interested in what you’re up to.💕
Hi Margaret, I, too have no friends from high school or college. For me, it is mainly because for the previous 20 years I have moved around like a ping pong ball. Now ( for the previous 2 years) I am finally retired. I am living in the same wonderful rental home that I lived in 10 years ago. I moved back here and am achieving my retirement goals which are: forge on making strong female friendships. About 6 months ago, I joined a WONDERFUL church and am creating 5 female friendships. I am growing “roots”. I told my landlady ( same landlady as 10 years ago) that the ONLY way that I will move out of here is in a pine box!!! I continue to admire your energy and your work ethic! Having been the "in charge" person for your entire career, i can see the difficulty in giving that up. You're a projects person, always with a list of to-do's and getting things done, which is an asset. Oh, I make those lists, too, and then don't do what's on the list, procrastinator that I am. Soooooo true. I retired recently and the people I worked with in the "trenches" have moved on. I kept a couple friendships but to be honest I have moved on also and don't want to know anything about what goes on there. My job was not my identity so I suspect it was an easier transition for me than someone whose job defines them. I find staycations as relaxing as vacations. Some people don't get that ! Enjoy your time!
Yes look into renting an RV. Building takes longer than anyone anticipates. Looking at a long year, almost, stuck under one roof. One thing I learned which is not easy, keep your mouth shut, no matter how much you want to put in your two cents. Hopefully you can find a project that takes your interest away from the humdrum. Perhaps planning furniture, paint colors, garden around your new place. Joining the Y for exercise groups, water aerobics with seniors.
I had so many friends in my younger years . As you said, things change, we change, I hope for the better. I keep a very small circle and that’s fine with me. I like my company and I stay busy. It will all work out❤
I’m a project person too. Sometimes I will cook and freeze the soup if I have no projects. The work I did when younger was noisy classrooms. I enjoy the quiet. Do I miss those that I thought were friends. Sure I do. They want to use me. Vote for this person. Go to this or that meeting. No thanks. I’ll figure it out. And I slowly am. This is a good life. ☀️
My best at work we both retire at the same time and promised to meet for lunch once a week. But I knew in my heart that would never happen. Well her husband got cancer so she was going back and forth taking care of him. So I understood. But now he better and I have asked several times but nothing so I guess I will stop asking but I still would do anything for her if she asked. So yes things do change.
I'm retired. The people i was such good friends with at work I seldom see anymore. It's always lets do lunch but we never do. And while i miss them I dont really care. Im a loner too. I'm more than fine seeing no one. My husband passed. I always say I want to live in the middle of the woods, not see anyone, not know what's going on. Except I'm a chicken after dark. This video has resonated with me quite a lot. I admire your frankness regarding not having many close friends and I think that’s fine. Some of us do better with family members and like you visiting with your old neighbor. As we age, at least that’s what I found out, is one is perfectly content being mostly by yourself. I’m sure when Nikki is finished with school that there will be plenty of times she’ll need to get away with this or that and you’ll still see little Squish. 🤗 I personally wouldn’t do any work at Michael’s old house, let the new buyers deal with that because you have no idea what’s down the line as far as length of time it takes building the new house out. You’re already upset about the timeline and one never knows what’s down the pike. Do you have old photos to organize or “stuff” to go through and declutter? Remember if you don’t do it someone else will have to. Winter months would be an excellent time to accomplish things one puts off over time. And maybe there are beautiful areas you can drive to that are close by that we’d love to see as well, especially the nature part of your area of the country. Anyway, I did enjoy this video very much. Sometimes just talking to us is nice to hear!

Cayuga Lake (a finger lake) is about an hour drive from where I live. You would love walking the many trails there. Taughannock Falls State Park has the waterfalls you mentioned. If you can at all swing the trip, you will enjoy it.

Gosh, I wish you wouldn't say you are stupid when mistakes are made. Actually, we make mistakes in order to learn. We sorta need to be thankful for those mistakes because they allow us to grow. Amazing people who have invented wonderful things for us were successful only because they made a zillion mistakes that finally led to their success. Hello Margaret I love you being Margaret; it adds to my day ❤. Hindsight's 20/20 especially with the could've & if onlys. This is the kids (sorry adult children are always kids to me) journey & their lessons. You picked up on architect issues & signs a long time ago. You love them and get to watch their lives unfolding in front of you. You've got a great work ethic & decide to do something, you're let's get this done kind of person. A lot in your life led you to this point. Theyre way behind, fortunately or they'd be old. Most people it takes time in life to gain wisdom. They're probably kicking themselves a little or maybe not. You may need to take it essy on the projects to have something to do when you need it 😂.Vacation is much more fun when it's shared. I haven't traveled on my own in years and not able to now. Last trip was wonderful though. You'll all be ok. Keep looking up 💕.

You've just said the summer and into winter will probably be a strain with all of you under one roof. Listen to yourself, and before all of you start living a nightmare, please find other affordable accommodations. I could so easily be wrong, but I think you might be telling yourself the same thing. No amount of saved money is worth lost or fractured relationships. That's what I'm hearing you say.
I 💯 agree. There are 55+ communities with rentals that also are income based. It’s not like welfare. It’s income based on your median income. Check it out that should keep you busy for a bit. Or let’s say You spend 2000/ month for the next 12 months. Those could be the most glorious 12 months of your life.

Why not join some groups..at church, senior center...look on the meet -up website..even a dating site to meet a man just for friendship..not everyone is looking for romance. I am giving you the same advise is give myself..I look for social things to, I go to thrift stores, movies....it is not easy but I do the best I can..Your doing fine being Margaret!

I am fine and don’t mind the questions. The salon sale netted very little after taxes etc. The house money was much better. Most of it is earmarked for my new in-law house and the rest is in a CD that I will keep for emergencies. I don’t want to waste it on a temporary situation. I am actually in the best financial shape of my life and am scared to screw it up. LOL. On a personal level, I am also about the happiest that I have ever been. I am just impatient and high energy by nature. 🤷♀️ Thanks for asking and don’t ever worry about being Curious!
Also there are 55+ communities that have reduced rent due to most being on a fixed income and there typically 60-80% of the median income for your area. Most seniors qualify and don’t realize. The communities are quite lovely with a very active lifestyle
I think the money in the CD would make me ineligible and again with this situation being temporary, it’s just not worth it. September will come so fast and once Nikki is back in school I will be needed here around 6:30 AM.

@@MargaretbeingMargaret Hey I live in south, we have to mark twig tree or they won’t cut. Love my southern boys but take literally when say only cut trees marked. Guess to many southern lady’s getting on their cases. 😂

Why not join some groups..at church, senior center...look on the meet -up website..even a dating site to meet a man just for friendship..not everyone is looking for romance. I am giving you the same advise is give myself..I look for social things to, I go to thrift stores, movies....it is not easy but I do the best I can..Your doing fine being Margaret!

I am fine and don’t mind the questions. The salon sale netted very little after taxes etc. The house money was much better. Most of it is earmarked for my new in-law house and the rest is in a CD that I will keep for emergencies. I don’t want to waste it on a temporary situation. I am actually in the best financial shape of my life and am scared to screw it up. LOL. On a personal level, I am also about the happiest that I have ever been. I am just impatient and high energy by nature. 🤷♀️ Thanks for asking and don’t ever worry about being Curious!
Also there are 55+ communities that have reduced rent due to most being on a fixed income and there typically 60-80% of the median income for your area. Most seniors qualify and don’t realize. The communities are quite lovely with a very active lifestyle
I think the money in the CD would make me ineligible and again with this situation being temporary, it’s just not worth it. September will come so fast and once Nikki is back in school I will be needed here around 6:30 AM.
