Awesome video Norm, we appreciate it! We've just made the exterior MicroFogger model open source, and the STEP file can be found in the FAQ of the product page. One thing that we do want to add is that one of the biggest features of the MicroFogger 5 Pro is the advanced on-board menu, in which you can set it to run autonomously, in a program of your choice. We're also about to release our new MicroFogger 5 Lite, that will be priced at about $150 :) The extended base for the tripod mount was a deliberate decision, as having it flush would make it hard to remove since the threaded piece replaces the existing finger-hold. We'll see if we can further improve it!
Appreciate the comparison and honest review on these 💚 The bubble tip was cool. I’m excited to see the SmokeNinja come to stores; I like that it has presets as buttons. Hopefully Vosentech continues to innovate too and help lower the prices on these
Hey, just thought I'd say that I've ben making my own vape juice for over a decade now, and I'm sure you could get roughly the same fog output from that smaller unit by changing the ratio of ingredients. I'd try like a 10/90 PG/VG mix, and the less PG the thicker the fog will be. Just gotta be sure it's thin enough to have continuous output from the device. Cheers.
You should see some of the smaller slimmer devices we use in the magic world. I use one in my act that puts out more smoke than you would think it could. The microfoggers are great for props and escape room making as well.
This is a place where if you are doing this on a full up studio job, there is no upside to saving money if “ a few coils burn out”. Nothing worse than the feeling when the small gag you have had a meeting or two on is shelved because it doesn’t work every time.
If you have $600 to spend on these I'd say the best solution is buy 2 Microfoggers. It would likely give you more potential total output and give you redundancy in case one fails during a shoot. You'd also save $100. EDIT: PMI mentioned in reply to this that they've just launched a $199 machine so 2 of those would probably be a great option also. EDIT 2: and Vosentech mentioned there's a Microfogger 5 Lite coming soon for $150. Great to see such competition in the market and the entry points dropping :)
The Smoke Genie looked a lot thicker and slower and controlled. That will make the smoke look better when it's being blown at a model I think. The Fogger definitely drops a lot of fog as well but the actual output doesn't look as good to me. The price difference is HUGE though. The Fogger got a lot closer with the neck and the lower fan speed. That little tornado at 11:15 is amazing btw :D
Damn, I gotta start making portable smoke machines!! They gotta be making a killing off those things, as they are just using 3d printed housing and about $30 worth of internal parts!! 😂
Damn, I wish I had had one of these back in my days of photographing scale models to simulate 'reality'. Blowing cigarette smoke onto scenes wasn't the healthiest way to get an effect!
I just realised how incredibly easy it would be to make a glycerol feeder for a soldering rework station - that would make an amazing cheap portable fogger with near zero start time, tho mains powered
Thanks so much for this very informative and delightful video! I knew these were out there but wasn't quite ready to do the research on them and now you've done it for us.
the smoke bubbles brings me back to my childhood when I wanted the Ninja Turtles Bubble Bomber...it would drop smoke filled bubbles. It was the coolest sh*t when I was a kid and wanted it so bad, but sadly even to this day, I never got to experience that toy.
11:59 The tinkerer in me really wants to build one using one of the many “disposable” vapes I’ve collected in a box just to do the smoke filled bubbles. Given they’re flavored vapes, they’ll have the added benefit of smelling good, too.
Crazy timing!!! We got online just now to buy a fogger to stick in a huge bison puppet's nostrils and popped in to the Tested feed to avoid that work and what do we find?! This! 😅
Why does that open cell foam work? I have a smoke genie and it blows my mind. Curious if I can get...something to put over my regular size fog machine chiller I made to *really* make the fog sink to the ground.
So I'm sure you've said before, but seeing your wall of organizing totes is what really grabbed my attention this video. Does anyone know what shelves (kallax?) those are? and what tote size fits so well? looking to organize my craft/hobby room(s)
Based on the label that’s visible in the wide shot, the totes are Sterilite. I think, as far as their brand goes, they are pretty standardized sizes. Maybe the shelves are Sterilite brand as well
A commercial fogger is literally just a vape with a pump, and runs on glycol, if you wanna ghetto it. Dry ice in a hot water 'urn' is also a classic'. Blowing a fogger through a can cooler filled with dry ice makes for great low hanging fog
Was literally thinking the same thing. Could literally hook an electric air duster or can of keyboard cleaner to a vape and get similar results for a fraction of the price. Tinker with the ratio of glycerin to glycol to get different intensities of smoke.
Absolutely @@JackArchambault, occurred to me right after a soldering rework station could be a goer too, just a bit of wick into some juice at one of the nozzles might work really well. Fog is so much fun

It all comes down to the fact that the foam slows the smoke down, and allows it to cool. Once cooled, it lingers and creates the fog effect :)
