I purchased this exact same bike in the mid 80's new from my local Yamaha dealer.. I had it for about a year and one day it wouldn't hardly run. I took it to the dealership for repair. The mechanic tore it apart but couldn't find the issue. He finally contacted Yamaha, and they explained that the diaphragms in the carbs were prone to get small pinholes in them. Yamaha covered the new parts and the labor for the repairs, which was nice because the warranty was out at that time.
My friend has a mildly tuned 535. He used to win the motorcycle drag nights at the local drag strip then ride back home. I have a video of it blowing the lights out of a 750
I think the 87 Virago 535 is the most beautiful Japanese cruiser ever made. So clean and simple looking, and has a potent little engine. I bought a used one 20 years ago, had it for 10 years with no issues. Mine was nowhere near as clean as this beauty, but I still had a lot of fun on it.
I can recommend the 535 for anyone, one of if not the best bike I've owned in terms of reliability. Never left me on the road, fired up on first try, full choke after sitting outside in the snow for 6 months. The only thing ya wanna check out is that the reserve switch works. mine didn't so couldn't get very far, about 90-93 miles on a single tank. Very easy to work on too. carb work is wayyyy easier than the bigger models.
Just bought myself a virago 535 and she’s from 1997. Just waiting for the plates and then I’ll go and have fun. Really hyped about it. Has custom silvertail exhaust that makes her sound hella loud. For sure a great investment. Cost about 4000SFr. (4400$). Including servicing and MVI. Go get one before there all gone🔥
One of the things I love about Americans, is they appreciate all engineering, old and new. They are not hung up on , Must be new! To be worth having! Unlike the British ! Kee it up guys love your content, just subscribed❤
I usually ride a Honda NC750X and a Ducati Monster 695. But I have a 1996 Virago 535 for rides on sunny sundays. But your Virago is in an excellent condition, much better than mine. Nevertheless it's a really awesome bike. Thanks for showing us your damn good looking bike!
That is stunning! Testament to the owner looking after it extremely well. Only 3,500 miles! Mine has 50,000km! I have the '95 535s which was in nothing like that condition when I bought it in 2014. It's now just had a ground up, bare metal respray, bobber customisation. These really are great great bikes, everything you say in the vid. Swiss army knife, I like that! ✌
Always loved the Viragos. What I've always liked the most were the V'max's. I often wonder why Yamaha stopped making V-Max's??? They were such badass bikes, with loads of power.
Beautiful bike I remember Viragos from very early 90s when I was a kid. There were 535, 750 and 1100 models if I remember correctly. I even had die-cast model of 1100 lol
Im planning to buy a motorcycle next year and this one is definitely on top of my list. Id love to drive one of these with a leather raincoat. Id feel like American Badass version of Undertaker LMAO of course it's not a harley but hey this baby is good as well lol
Geez! He didn't ride it much, over all those years! No wonder the tires are factory. Damn shame. Those bikes NEED to be ridden. My '94, which I bought second hand in '07 with about 5k on it, has just turned 30K this week. And I don't ride it as much as she deserves because I pamper her like an obsessed lover. She always turns heads when I take her out for jaunts.
"once in a blue moon" Ken, you should seriously consider changing the name of the classic shop to "Blue moon cycles" it seems that the blue moon is always on the sky at 200 west main. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
they are a good looking bike i am thinking of geting one. .as i had a friend that let me drive his . i do not know i may get a virago 535 cc or a triumph t100 865cc the t100 is mory money but we will see
I own a Virago 535 as well. Incredible medium sized machines, with an engine that will last forever with little maintenance
У меня тоже вирага переделанная

This is going to help someone repair their old boy. Guaranteed. Lol.

I could never explain why but the 535 was the coolest of the Virago line. Not too big, not too small, good accessory line-up and always looked great.

Thanks Wolverine!
😂😂😂
I rode one around my town it's not my cup of tea but let me tell you they ride so smooth
God bless America 🇺🇲
Just got a 1999 for my first motorcycle. Amazing first bike❤️
My very first bike, and a great beginner bike too.
same
You forgot to mention one of the most unique features, the gas tank is under the seat! The “gas” tank on this year is a faux tank.

I got my xv535 with only 8000 miles, and I've more than doubled that in just a few years of ownership. Mine now looks terrible 😩
Ade it's more like a testament to say it wasn't ridden enough. Nothing to do with been looked after.
@@greenmuso milage alone won't make a bike look bad. That comes from lack of maintenance

Back in the day, the local dealer told my friends, put a Harley emblem on the tank and nobody would know the difference. Lol! True story.
The 535 is one of the few bikes I've seen where the stock is exhaust looks too good to swap. Normally I hate stock pipes but the 535 is beautiful.
Beautiful bike

And there is Virago 125. I have Virago 535.
I’m on the late show but also a 400cc from 87-88
Quiet love that might actually be getting one soon!
Tenho uma Virago 535 cc. Gostei desse. Video
У меня точно такая же 535. 87год. Цве такой-же
128,000 km on my Virago 535 speak for its reliability
I have one and love it
That's nice! I'd love a blue one! I have an '18 V Star 250. First run of Raven Black Metallic ones titled as 2018 built June '17.
Piękna 👍

I've had one of this in Brazil.
I also own a 97 Virago xv535 in Malaysia.
I also own one of this "Green Hornet" , such a incredible machine , custom to your own...
I love those

Hermosa máquina 👍
Like!!!!Cool!
Beautiful bike but you'd definitely should replace the tyres if they're original, need to replace tyres every 5 years.
One big guy on one small bike.
How tall are you? It looks like this bike is little small compared to driver, maybe I'm wrong.
How tall you are?
Hermoso motor en V 😎👍
Pre 96 Virago has the smaller 7 liter tank rather than 96 13 liter tank
i have an 87 535 as well!

Me too , new pipes ,tires ,battery ,& light bulb ... No complaints

Can you please tell me how tall are you? In some videos this 535 looks very small but idk, maybe the owners are just 7 feet giants? :D
I'm 5'7" and it's perfect for me.
Where do they put fuel from

Yamaha virago 535 or honda shadow vt600?
Heya bud how tall are you just trying to figure if this bike is a good fit for me
This is for sale or going to auction? Where I can I find it?
Yes at www.kaplancycles.com
@@kaplancycles7665 i see I visited the site, looks like maybe it’s already sold? I see some jackets but no bikes currently. What did it sell for?
@@robertjohnsonii1765 I bet he got at least 5 grand for it being that it's probably one of the cleanest 87 535's in the world.
Какой у него рост и вес
How tall is the rider? I am looking to buy one but I dont want to look to big for the bike.. i am 6”2
How would this bike serve a 6'6 320 lbs guy as his first cruiser
how do you put gas in it?
The tank is under the seat
😍👍🏻
How tall are You ?
how tall is he?
I think it's not suitable for tall people but for medium build guys, because of the smaller size of the bike
And that's the problem with these bikes, ideal for small ladies but look ridiculous with a guy on one.
First! Woohoo
my problem with the 535 .. the size of the bike .. and the tank 😖
This guy needs a bigger bike.
형님 키가 2m는되는듯
Only for small 🌶, horrible for eyes and utility
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
