Great shots Paul and a nice topic too. I often end up heading to a location where a particular shot has been done to death because I want one of my own. But once that's captured, it's always the alternatives which end up getting printed. I've had much more luck going to famous locations and taking non-famous pictures, than I have had attempting to recreate something I've seen from another photographer who's images I've enjoyed.
Wow Paul, you certainly caught the conditions in the first images. The exposure time was perfect with detail in the waves. I think some photographers use too long an exposure with their water shots resulting in the water looking too blurred. I was at Elgol in that exact location early February and my tripod blew over (not too much damage to the camera thankfully) and it wasn’t as windy as you experienced. I have sold the old tripod and I’m now a proud owner of a Kingjoy C85 tripod. Can’t believe how sturdy it is.
@@PaulthomsonphotographyUk Literally saw you all posting about 20 minutes from arriving home! I too had issues on Skye, ended up with a flat tyre on the motorbike and had to wing it home on an emergency tyre kit, got to have been the longest straight ride home yet!
Some great images there Paul and something to take into consideration thanks for the suggestions. My favourite image was at 9:03 the light was incredible. The following morning first shot is lovely like you said the dark rocks work great against the filtered motion of the waves and splendid colours on the mountain tops and the light leading you got across the water.👏👏
Great images Paul, I liked the higher perspective shots, as you say we normally head to the beach, though the last time I was there the wind was so strong it was hard to stand up, greta experience though.
Cracking images, Love Elgol, spend a couple of weeks a year in one of those cottages just behind the bottom carpark. Don't neglect the harbour area, you can get some great shots of the boats coming in with the sunset behind. Going back in 3 weeks time can't wait
Beautiful shots! Some great clouds and light. You and Adam are real jinx's on automobiles when you're together aren't you. Didn't his van let you down when you were heading into the US? :-)
Great shots a tips! Thanks Paul!
Thanks so much 😁✌️

Very nice images. It was very helpful when you showed the impact of adjusting your position relative to the rocks as a leading line to the mountains.
