    We have a few different brand mats, Kathmandu single and paired it with zempire king single stretcher and we have kiwi camping self inflating mat in queen with their queen stretcher.
    We had issues with trying to inflate them when new. Took many attempts at deflating and inflating many times but eventually getting more inflation

      Nice mate! I have an stretcher bed and a sea to summit air mattress for light weight hiking. I now just use a little electric pump to inflate my monsta mat up. It just makes the process so much quicker!

    Ah, I didn't know that about the synthetic silk., great info. I bought one and got another one today. I tried sleeping on it last night which was warmer than the others I have. Also, the top layer is not as sweaty as one would expect from a plastic matrass. I likely pumped it up a bit too hard. My bones hurt the next day. Also, the length is a bit short for the average male (198 cm) and it's too wide (76cm). But, that's probably because they only sell the King size here. At least it's cheaper than in NZ (99 Euro). I guess they are made in China?

    • @adventure_seekers

      Hey @QnA22 , awesome choice. Ours is still going strong 4 years. The top is a great feature if you dont have a cover, which I will tell you more about in a second...> Yes! you can cetainly pump it up too hard / too soft and have experienced both. It can give me sore shoulders...the solution I have found is to get a pillow topper for a double mattress! It works great and the last sleep I had on it which was also the first time using the topper was probably the most comfortable ever, so I can highly recommend this as a solution. Im 183cm tall and pretty slender, I find the length has always been good for me and I rarely use the double solo but its generous for two skinny rake humans. I can't speak for the king single unfortunately but I imagine its spacey. You are correct, Zempire have manufacturing partners in China!

    Having gone through 3 air beds in the last two years, How resistant to punctures do you think it is? I was holding my breath when you were dragging it across the rock! Cheers.

    • @adventure_seekers
      @adventure_seekers  3 года назад

      Wow that is a lot of air beds! Can you list the makes and models and describe how the punctures occured? I think this one is on the more resistant side, but I dont think anything in the air mattress space is bullet proof. I have always taken a survey of the surface we are setting the tent up on to avoid any punctures. One campsite on the Gibb River Road had particularly nasty double G's all over the site. They punctured the base of the tent floor so I decided to put the old foam mattress that lives in my rooftop tent under the self inflating on this particular night. I think this decision saved my mattress on this occasion and I haven't done this since. Now that I've slept on this mattress almost 100 nights I have put it down all over the shop! Zempire have really 'nailed' the design《 no pun intended ;-) 》Its worth a crack if you need more assurance!

      Thanks for the kind words Mick! No issues with the valve to date. Are you experiencing any problems or just curious? Presumably it will be a warranty issue if the valve fails. With this in mind it is a durable design which matches those which sell for more $$$

    • @adventure_seekers
      @adventure_seekers  3 года назад +1

      Hey Jase, to be honest mate I haven't tested this out. I assume you can as the product comes factory compressed so I don't see any reason you couldn't do the same out on the road! Unless they used different system to remove the air for example just compressing by squashing it with two large plates but this seem unnecessary and unlikely. If you happen to test it out mate let me know how it goes! I'm sure a lot of lightweight touring crew would be interested by the result!

  • @utbronell

    Thanks for the review. I've got an oztrail leisure mat (double) but can't roll it up on my own and even with help, it's near impossible to get back into the bag. (I've ripped the bag trying). It's also bulky and takes up alot of space in the car. For these reasons I'm looking at another brand and am considering this one and the exped megamat. The exped looks good but so does this and I really can't find anything I like better about the exped except for the fact the bag opens lengthways but hardly worth an extra $100. Do you find its hot to lie on? My partner says the leisure mat makes him sweat and is too hot for summertime. It's fine for me but I'm a cold frog.

    • @adventure_seekers
      @adventure_seekers  3 года назад +1

      Hey Karina, I've slept on a few oz trials before and man are they tough to pack away. I find the Zempire infinitely easier mainly due to the valve system, once the air is out it isn't coming back in. I wouldn't say the Monsta Mat isn't still bulky but you shouldn't have trouble getting it into the bag once deflated and strapped. I don't find it hot to lie on but I'm more susceptible to the cold also. That's a tough one because it could be a mixture of the R valve of the mat and air temperature. I would put a sheet on it if you don't already and see if that changes the feel!

    • @utbronell
      @utbronell 3 года назад +2

      I ended up buying the monstamat! Haven't slept on it yet but had it out in the loungeroom and was happy that I could roll it up and get it back into the bag on my own. The deflate valve is definitely a life changer.

    Top quality video mate, got a new subscriber 👍 I got the single just yesterday for my 6 yr old boy but I'll probably get one for myself too. It's worth pointing out when you inflate the first time it takes like a whole day to inflate. Snowys.com.au recommend giving it one to two days then she's as quick as you said after that👌

    • @adventure_seekers
      @adventure_seekers  4 года назад

      Awesome, Thanks for subscribing Paul and definitely get one for yourself! I'm about to spend a month on mine as I do a road trip to the Kimberley from Perth, so it will really be a great test for it. I did forget to mention the pre use step in the video of leaving it to fully inflate for a longer period. For me I left it open for a handful of hours 4 - 5 at home and then for another 4 hours in the old rooftop tent, so about 9 in total and it performed as expected. It is definitely worth making that point known and thanks for pointing it out, cheers mate!

    would you recommend 2 singles or a double for a couple.
    regarding price, space and time to set up
    rgds Lyn

    • @adventure_seekers
      @adventure_seekers  3 года назад +1

      Hey Lyn, I would disregard price as a metric here mainly because I think having a comfortable and solid sleep can make or break camping trips. I think setup and pack down time would be marginally more with two singles verse 1 double, at the very most a couple of minutes either side of the setup. I think space would be the biggest thing to consider. My partner and I are in the slim body department with a combine weight of about 125kgs, so we have adequate wriggle room for a comfortable night sleep. If you're well over 6 foot tall and have a combined weight of plus 160kgs I would possibly look into the singles...unless you and Colin are full sleep spooners. I am the worlds biggest the anti spoon when it comes to sleeping (stay the hell off my side of the bed, to put it nicely haha), so the more space the merrier for me and the double works just fine for us! I hope that helps with your decision making!

    Would definitely recommend staying away from Zempire at least that's my opinion.
    Bought the double 11 months ago. Used it 4-5 times and the seal around the valve ripped UNDER the fabric.
    Bought through an online eBay store that sadly doesn't exist anymore but I have the eBay receipt saying it was new and a photo of it wrapped in its plastic with the original labels on it.
    Contacted Zempire to fix the fault, not even replace the mattress I just wanted it fixed.
    Zempire will not honor its warranty because supposedly they believe the mat is second-hand (pretty much calling me a liar) and telling me it was even when I have the photo of it with labels on.
    For me, the mattress has ended up as expensive landfil ...Spend your hard earned $ on a company that cares because these guys don't.

      @@adventure_seekers Yeah might be a fluke but have seen a few other people complaining about leaks but this stuff can happen it’s mainly the poor customer service received from them, seems just a numbers game. They aren’t cheap and fine paying more as long the quality and service follows but seems both didn’t this time.I tried to patch it up but since it’s the joint between the valve under the fabric doesn’t work.
      No Zempire have definitely lost me as a customer after this, I have loads of their gear (tent, cooker, pillow but lost faith in them so will be ordering an Exped instead.
      Can send you via email, not very impressive as it’s under the fabric
