    Thank you for this demo, it is quite helpful to me! I love the navy and green with gold but actually, I like the warm gray you did on the white too.

    Another fantastic video full of hints, tricks and techniques. The gold on green was definitely my favourite. I've got so much admiration for talented artists, and even more admiration for talented artists who inspire and teach others less talented. Subscribed. 👍

    Very interesting. I love the Navy and Gold one. I have the X-cut for die cutting (rarely used) but it was the only one at the time where you can adjust the pressure of the rollers. TFS

    Hi Lou I really really enjoyed your tutorial, you are such a wonderful teacher. I use shop bought stamps to use on fabrics and I am always disappointed as I get little lines as you did. What a fabulous idea to make a mask it really solves a big problem, thank you. I have also seen the X-Cut in the shops and have never really understood what they do, I use a Sizzex machine and wonder if that might do the trick. I thought your finished prints were superb, I must admit my favourite was the blue background. On a personal note I really love your hair, the style is very becoming, I hope you don’t mind me saying that Lou. Thank you for this fabulous tutorial, I really learned a lot, I only wish I had a teaspoon of your immense talent. Have a wonderful week ahead. Big hugs and loves xxxxxx Dorothy ❤️🙋🏻😘

      Thank you very much. I think the sizzix could work too, it just needs a bit more work getting the right pressure for printing. I did some tiny prints a few years ago on a cuttlebug by adding some extra sheets of card and felt to get it to the right size.

      Thank you Lou I got a larger machine for Christmas from my Son and it came with a selection of larger plates so I will give it a try. Thanks for replying it was sweet of you xxxxxx❤️🙋🏻😘

    Love your video’s Thank you. Can you print straight onto card please?

    • @LouDavis
      @LouDavis  2 года назад

      You're welcome. I do print onto card with the press but it's more difficult if you're doing it by hand - possible, but it takes longer to burnish, and the card needs to be smooth. I would experiment with different papers to see how they work.

    Thank you so much! It's very informative! Do you clean additionally the print block and the tools after you have cleaned it with oil?

    • @LouDavis
      @LouDavis  4 года назад +1

      You're welcome. I usually just use the oil and wipe it off thoroughly but occasionally I will go in with a solvent cleaner if they still feel greasy.

    Hi Lou, great instruction on printing the lino block, I used to mount them on a block of wood and print them in the 5 x 3 or 8 x 5, do you have a reason for not doing that! I guess it is for the benefit of people that don't have a press!

    • @LouDavis
      @LouDavis  4 года назад

      Hi Colin, yes I’ve printed with the 8x5 with the lino mounted on wood and it’s worked well. I can print larger with the xcut though, and they’re easier and cheaper to come by for anyone wanting to get started - in the uk at least.

    Where did you get the gold ink? I really want some gold block printing ink. Those prints are beautiful by the way x

    • @LouDavis
      @LouDavis  2 года назад

      I use Cranfield traditional oil based ink in gold, you can find a link to it in the description box.

    Where did you get the press? I'm in the States.

    • @LouDavis
      @LouDavis  3 года назад

      I got mine from the Range in the UK but I think since I made the video this machine might have been discontinued. There are other small craft die cutting machines people use for presses. There’s also a ‘craft press printmaking’ group on Facebook where people offer advice on different small presses.

    When you make the mask to stop the lines showing up could you not just take your cutter and remove the higher parts of lino or wouldn't that not work

    • @LouDavis
      @LouDavis  3 года назад

      pop scratcie I think it depends on the image I’m printing. If I’m leaving a large blank area, especially on the edge of the lino, however much lino I cut away, my roller always catches on something. I could completely remove the lino in those areas but I chose not to do that in this case because having the straight lines on the edge of the block makes registration much easier. My advice is always to experiment, try different methods and find what works for you and the look you want to achieve.
