Bloom where you’re planted! What a challenge! What an adventure! Can’t wait to watch your travel videos and see the beautiful places you’ll visit…what you are teaching your kids is priceless…🙌
Jason, Can't wait to see you and the fam crammed into that little space for 7 months! I watch most all your videos but will be sure not to miss these!! Good luck, stay safe and I will be waiting with baited breath for each weeks video!
Wow! I am shocked at the negativity! I hope you have a great time! There was a time in our country, that families of 6 or more lived and survived in a one room shack.
I really like your IBEX. It’s nice. I like for as small as it is you get a pantry and storage in the bathroom. Nice your fixing it up. Thank Jason for giving a full tour of your temporary home while you travel to Alaska. Have fun traveling and stay safe.
My family of 5 (1 preteen and 2 teenagers) have a 2021 Ibex 19MBH. We all traveled from NE Ohio to Western NV along I80 there and I40 back in 2021. It was 30 days and we were able to travel comfortably and enjoyed the trip immensely. We love ours and hope you do too!
Did the Alaska trip in 2018 pulling my 30ft fifth wheel. Loved it. Look into the Provincial Parks in Canada. They are fantastic. Worst roads were from Canadian Border to Tok, Chitna to McCarthy and from Glenallen to Valdees. This last one was also one of the most beautiful. Can't wait to see your travel adventures. More the merrier. I also lucked out and seen Denali five different days in full view.
A cap for your truck gives you so much storage, we love it for our ebikes, water jugs, generator and so much more. Enjoy your videos, they are very educational. Hope your finger heals fast, wedding bands can be a hazard for guys.
They say it will heal fast. I should be getting my cast off in two more weeks, maybe a splint after that. We have an interesting truck bed storage solution on its way!
Love your thinking with the smaller rig. Make sure you find room for a sturdy screen tent, which I'm sure you guys have already thought about. Looking forward to your travel journey.
Such a cool camper! I wish we had done this with our boys when they were young. We tent camped, but that has its limitations. Kudos to you - the years go by so fast, grab those moments while you can. BTW, you have 3 boys...put 'em to work! 😆 (I'm sure you have already.)
Sounds like an adventure, be safe of course. 5 people, 1 toilet would be an adventure in itself. You may want to think of security cameras on the outside as well.
Nice RV tour. Looking forward to seeing the adventure with the family. Your comment about fitting into places easier has made me re-evaluate my next RV choice. We currently have a 24' Keystone Passport (which we love) that we tow with our Ford Ranger and were thinking of upgrading to an A or C class in a few years. But I don't know at this time. I've watched several individuals with huge rigs and campers have problems getting into campsites or have to leave the campground. I like the accessibility to sites and campgrounds. Have a blast on your trip.
Yes! No app controlled tools! Foot thinks the bunk ladder blocks the power outlet. Does the stove hood vent outside? Thanks for showing us a smaller, well thought out rig.
Super excited for you and the family, Jason. What a cool adventure to branch out into something a bit different and challenging. Great memories will come of this decision I am certain. Just back from a month in a Travato GL with my wife. Your point is well taken, it’s the outside that will be where you spend most of your time, or why have the rig at all. I’m with you on not using apps to control things more simply taken care of at the onboard panel. May you all be blessed in your travels!
A very nice and thorough presentation on a very nice trailer. Some nice practical features. Good luck on your trip to Alaska. I hope I could be with you. Don
Looking forward to how this works out for you. This is the size of TT I would like to get. Can’t wait to see your journey to Alaska. Hope to travel there with a camper in the future.
Excited to have you along! Here’s a direct link to become a Mile Marker member. Thanks for the support! ruclips.net/channel/UCM7abs_fO7RNp-WArS2u3SQjoin
Loved the video, We just purchased a ibex 20mds and look forward to following your journey. We would live to see more details on the mods you are making.
Jason, your lucky Abbey only found your ring and not the finger. As a mechanic I learned years ago about the danger of rings. Good luck with the little camper. ❤
I think this will be a (good/fun) riot and an great opportunity for quality family time. I think you’ve thought stuff through, this looks like a great trailer to take up to Alaska. We’re planning on full timing in a year in a fifth wheel (35’ max) but am apprehensive about taking it to Tukyuktuk…(not that interested in Alaska) so we’ll see. Looking forward to watching your adventure.
Hey Miles, we’ll be in Alaska June through September 2023. We’ll be in the Lance TC with “A Southern state of Mind” printed across the back. We - 2 adults & 2 misbehaving dogs will keep an eye open for you!
Awesome, can't wait to see the videos from the trip. We crammed 4 of us into a Passport 239ML (same 25ft length with no slides) for a four month trip through US+Canada in 2022. Totally doable. Reasonable gas millage too. Only wish that tanks were bigger (we have 39F, 34G, 34B). Not sure why but they seem to have shrunk in size over the years and seem even smaller now.
Reminds me a lot of the my NOBO 19.8 which I just sold. Turns out I am really crappy at towing a trailer so am waiting for my small class c to be built. Since you are a Forest River ambassador it is a Sunseeker 2350. Having it converted to 4wd for the more challenging adventures. Headed to Alaska/Yukon in June, returning August. Make sure if you are going to Denali to get reservations at the Teklanika campground, probably soon. You are allowed to drive 25 more miles into the park if you stay there. Downside is once you are in you can not leave or come back with a minimum three day stay.
haaaaaoooouuuuuuchhh.... My skin crawled when you gave the reason for the cast. Dang dude, that's like a huge fear of mine... (and I'm a klutz so....) lol, nice digs though. They did a really stout job on these trailers.
Hey Jason and Abby...so excited for you and your family to be taking this awesome trip. We have looked at both the Ibex and NoBo specifically because they have added the Curt suspension. They both seemed a bit cheap on the finishes and materials and overall look, and I will be anxiously awaiting to see how it does. You all are certainly going to give a thorough shakedown (no pun intended). I like how you said the road you and Jack took will be the worst road you'll take. You may have spoken a bit early on that one as you haven't done Baja yet or the Alcan. Can't wait to follow along with you.
To be clear - we only used the Ridgline to get from Elkhart to Palm Springs. Going forward, we’ll be using our actual tow vehicle which is a Ford F-350.
You mentioned moving the batteries inside and putting a box on the trailer tongue. Harbor freight has a steel trailer tongue box, 2.31cuft, that should fit on the frame rails where the battery box is, without moving the propane tanks. We put one on our Surveyor 19BHS and it has been a nice addition.
@@josephvanwanzeele5125 We left ours black to match the bottom of the trailer. I keep our two 100 AHr LiFePO4 batteries it. Our trailer doesn't have as much interior storage as this wonderful IBEX being shown.
Smaller is better for a trip like this. Broken fingers are bad.. It makes it so hard to accomplish day to day tasks. Hope it heals up OK. And howdy from the HTSAYTC group!
I agree with the app control. The thought is that the app will survive 5-10 years of updates to operate the systems in the RVs. Give me a switch, please. Best with your trip.
10:55 Looking under the bed, I see something that will be a MUST DO upgrade before you embark on the trip, especially since you are doing a better mattress, which will be heavier. Add some batter framework to the underside of the bed platform to make it more rigid. I'd probably remove the existing 1x2 on the right and the front, and replace them with a 2x2, then add a 2x2 on the left and at the foot of the bed. You want the bed platform to be much less "flexy" when you lift it. Aldo a good plan like you mentioned is to replace the existing lift strut with a heavier model, I'd also recommend adding one on the left. I can almost guarantee the one strut will not support you upgraded mattress, and since you will be getting in an out of that space a lot, you want it to stay UP.
It's already under construction. I had to rebuild the bed of our pioneer in a campground because it exploded under the pressure of the struts a few years ago.
@@RVMiles AWESOME! Great minds think alike. Another thing to consider is maybe building a better divider wall around the inverter. I did that on my Geo Pro 16BH. The existing divider was like 1/8" Luan and falls over if you look at it wrong. Hoping you can do a video of your upgrades before heading out for the trip. I love seeing RV Upgrade videos.
Jason, I would also add another layer of plywood to the master bed. It looks so thin, I can see someone sitting too close to the edge and the plywood splitting... even with a thicker mattress.
I am looking forward to your "after" review, it sounds like a really great camper. One thing I noticed is the bed looks like it'll be a whole lot easier to change and make for Abby. We're buying an iceco fridge, and a solar kit for it, I'm scared and excited about it, we don't go to campgrounds that have hook ups, and really didn't want a generator, so now we have to learn how to do the solar, watching and listening to you be so casual about it makes me think we'll figure it out. Trepidation is what can make me nervous. I hope you all have a wonderful bunch of adventures! Is Jack doing the video work? It's great.
Thanks Susan! The queen bed will be easier, but the bunks will definitely not. DC refrigerators are great but being able to use propane on a fridge anywhere is something I miss. It's all trade-offs, I guess. Abby recorded the video on this one!
Our Alaska trip ended just a couple of months ago and it was amazing. Our videos will be out soon and we’ll be starting at the beginning in Baja. We’ve also been chronicling the journey almost in real time on the RV Miles Podcast channel.. 🙌🏽
It’s way too SMALL for 5 people. But if you think positive and tell yourself it will be fun, It might be a good adventure. I will be watching with a positive attitude. You see my 2 kids are not kids, it is just me and the wife of 51+ years. GOOD LUCK. SAFE TRIP.
We can see how some might see it as small, but we don’t see it that way at all. Remember, there’s a big beautiful outside right out our door that will be a large part of our living space. We are looking forward to switching things up for a bit and appreciate people keeping an open mind and sharing in this journey with us, even if it isn’t how they’d travel. 🙌🏽
@@RVMiles Having a Cougar of similar size and layout works for me as a full timer, but adding 4 people would certainly be a challenge. The living room as you call it is only available in good weather and the last couple of times I’ve been to Alaska their were only a few days of that. I remember in Ketchikan having a liquid sunshine gage that was twice my height. I’m sure this will be a very memorable adventure. Good luck and happy trails
@G Keller, respectfully disagree! “No bad weather, just bad clothes”, lol! Here on the “Wet Coast”, rain is no excuse to be outside :-). (keeping the trailer clean afterwards may be the bigger issue of course). Safe travels all!
So excited for this. Can't wait to see some of your good ideas we can use for our 20BHS. Wish we had the 2023 with that suspension. Our 2022 is just leaf springs. Also, nice of FR to give you the vac hose and the TPMS. I don't think they normally come with the rig. We paid for ours separately.
I love it can't wait to see the rest of the trip sorry about your finger that's why don't wear a wedding ring. Thank you so very much for all your hard work on your update videos I really enjoy them and I'll be following your journey as close as I can.
The “yellow thing” up front as you call it is not a sensor, it’s a signal enhancer/repeater for lack of a better term that enhances the signal strength from the wheel sensors to the TPMS monitor.
Hi Jason What route are you planning across BC? I live in BC and have traveled most of the routes. Some are better than others. Let me know if you have questions,
I just subscribed and am excited to see your adventure! I’m glad you’re not letting these negative comments get you down because I think it’s great that your downsizing! I’m planning a trip to Alaska as well, albeit much shorter and via the Alaska Marine Hwy. How old are your kids?
Thank you for sharing. My husband and I have a forestriver rpod. It was fun to see the similarities. We are in NW Oregon and will be traveling down to Northern California and spending time driving hwy 101 and along the Oregon Coast this summer. Looking forward to seeing your trip up to Alaska (our dream trip). I'm really curious about food and the boarder crossing.
Great video and the trip sounds fantastic. We my run into you at some point this summer if all works out. I haven't seen this mentioned in the comments but just a word of caution regarding using the schwintek slide. I don't believe you can sit/lay in the slide with it in the closed position. I could be wrong but you might want to verify with the manufacturer.
Yeah, it's not really about the slide technology, it's more about the fact that it's unsupported on the front edge when it's closed. See you on the road!
Upgrade to 30lb tanks! You can put a regulator on a small tank to make that grill portable. I've rigging my generator to run off the trailer or a solo tank. A solo tank makes an emergency spare too. I think the dinette is supposed to be the counter. 😞
Have fun. I hope your weather cooperates when you hit the Pacific Northwest! Please go to Whitehorse and Dawson City before going over the Top of the World hwy. Chicken Alaska is great and Dawskn City has a tremendous amount of educational experience for the kids.
Looks incredibly uncomfortable in every seating / bed area, incredibly comfortable. Also looks like a ton of standard (crappy) RV construction covered with a facade of fancy (or attempt at it). I wouldn't want to do what you're about to do in that with 2 adults let alone your fam of 5. I am looking forward to following your trip but am very keen to temper whatever's said about the trailer as it's not like you picked & paid for it. Good luck / always appreciate your channel content.
We love that you are taking this trip, as we are wanting to take pretty much the same trip next year. One question that I have, and it may just see an optical illusion, but in the video, it looks like your front tires on the truck are larger than your rear tires. Is this the case??
Very cool and looks like a great RV. The lack of countertop space is an interesting one: look forward to seeing if you have an idea for that (flip up extension?). What’s the GVWR and what’s the payload for your truck? Also curious to see what you’ll decide to bring on such a trip!
Safety Caution....You are fortunate to still have your finger. While in the service on Midway Island a load master on a C130 jumped down from the aft door and caught his ring on the side of the door, it stripped the finger and eventually lost his finger.
Reminds me so much of our first travel trailer, a Rockwood Mini-Lite. Wish we could caravan with you up to Alaska. But we are about 6-7 years away from that. Our new travel trailer is 34’ long and probably too big for some of those smaller parks, so there is that! I can see why you’re trying this one. We switched our front vent to a Max Air and put in a vent cover so it could be open even if raining gently… or going down the road. It is surprisingly easy to do, do recommend you do it before heading out. Also, take one of those Camco 28 gal dump trailers… you’ll be glad to have the extended capacity. And a water bladder. And an extra spare tire for everything! Have fun!
Should be a fun adventure. Hope the California rainy season ends before your trip begins. Bummer on your injury. Jimmy Fallon had a similiar misfortune. Makes me wonder how many ring injuries happen. I have been faithfully wed for years but don't like rings and maybe that's okay.

@@RVMiles oh! Great job Abby!
Hello, Just found your site. Enjoyed the tour of your IBEX. Have you gone on the Alaska trip yet?
Or, didn't you put up any videos yet? Thank you.

Having a Cougar of similar size and layout works for me as a full timer, but adding 4 people would certainly be a challenge.
Those wedding rings can cause all sorts of trouble! 😅😮
The tpms is included now. Not sure about the vac hose!
Can you access everything with the slide closed. Can’t find a video anywhere on RUclips. Thank you.
You need to add one more solar panel and make sure the shore charge controller will charge the lithium-ion batteries
We have plans to add a solar panel and we’ll have several portable ones as well.
I love it can't wait to see the rest of the trip sorry about your finger that's why don't wear a wedding ring. Thank you so very much for all your hard work on your update videos I really enjoy them and I'll be following your journey as close as I can.
Glad to have you along!
The “yellow thing” up front as you call it is not a sensor, it’s a signal enhancer/repeater for lack of a better term that enhances the signal strength from the wheel sensors to the TPMS monitor.
I understand what it is.
Love it, we use rockwood 20' funny I use a ridgeline, been overe rockies bunch 😄,
That’s a good amount smaller though. It did fine, my biggest issue was the fuel tank size!
Thanks for subbing and for the supportive comment. Our boys are 15, 12 and 9. Take care!
Safe travels to you! We will def share all the in’s and outs of crossing/food here and on the RV Miles Podcast. Take care! -Abby
Thanks so much for the recommendations! Fingers crossed on the weather.
I was looking at the Ember, but you may have converted me. I do like the euro windows that the Ember has however.
Embers are great too, but at a premium price.
To be very clear - we absolutely chose this unit and paid for it at a discount.
We love that you are taking this trip, as we are wanting to take pretty much the same trip next year. One question that I have, and it may just see an optical illusion, but in the video, it looks like your front tires on the truck are larger than your rear tires. Is this the case??
I think it's an optical illusion, because the front wheel wells have a liner in them, and the rear one doesn't. Thanks for watching!
Funny, looks like the new improved version of my 2019 Forest River No Boundaries TT. I like the dual axle and suspension though
NoBo and Ibex are sister companies.
Very cool and looks like a great RV. The lack of countertop space is an interesting one: look forward to seeing if you have an idea for that (flip up extension?).
What’s the GVWR and what’s the payload for your truck? Also curious to see what you’ll decide to bring on such a trip!
Never mind on GVWR: 7500 on their website
Safety Caution....You are fortunate to still have your finger. While in the service on Midway Island a load master on a C130 jumped down from the aft door and caught his ring on the side of the door, it stripped the finger and eventually lost his finger.
I'm hearing more and more about how common this is!
5 people on a long trip south to north. Good luck.
No Dinette (bed ) or sofa a chairs . Not going to very comfortable. I know , have been there!!
It’s going to be a long tough trip
We lived for 3 years in a similar amount of space in our bus conversion.
Where are you in Palm Springs
👍
Have fun!
Hard to be critical of something you received for free : )
We paid a discounted price. But this video isn’t about being critical. It’s a tour. We haven't even used it yet.
How the rest of us live down here in the travel park ;)
How do you clean out the vacuum?
It's a cartridge you pull out and dump in the trash.
Get rid of hot water heater & go on demand
I think we'd use too much water for the type of camping we plan to do.
Should be a fun adventure. Hope the California rainy season ends before your trip begins. Bummer on your injury. Jimmy Fallon had a similiar misfortune. Makes me wonder how many ring injuries happen. I have been faithfully wed for years but don't like rings and maybe that's okay.
