The Texas based company, Colossal has taken on the task of bringing back the Dodo bird.
This would change everything, so let’s hope they are diligent and get this monumental accomplishment done.

They been talking about bringing animals back to life for over 30 years now and I still haven't seen a single animal brought back.
It doesn’t mean they won’t. It takes quite a bit to make an animal from scratch.
@Thefuturist that is very true because I think they have to mix dna from birds that are relatives to the dodo to form the bird itself to make a copy of the dodo

As well as the Giant Moa, The Great Auk, The Elephant Bird, Haast's eagle, Ivory Billed Woodpecker, The Carolina Parakeet, The Passenger Pigeon, The Dromornis stirtoni, The Genyornis newtoni etc….as well other animals like The Tasmanian Tiger, Stellars Sea Cow, The Aurochs etc…..

Humanity - scientists, in specifics - became so enamoured in proving that they could that they never stopped to wonder if they should.
Whether it went extinct in the 1700s or 65 million years ago, it comes from a time vastly different from the present. Bringing it back could lead to unprecedented ratifications in the near-future.
I don't understand why people realize this
Do we know of its diet? What ecosystem would best suit them accordingly without any population increase or decrease amongst the animals and plants already dwelling in that ecosystem?
Even if it's replicated down to the smallest detail, we can't measure everything that the dodo will be, feel, experience. It is a completely new organism in all but name since it is created artificially with, at the very least, its original bone structure; because of that, there is difficulty in knowing what to do with it once it grows in population enough to sustain for a long period of time.
However, dropping it anywhere without thought would harm the ecosystem it is placed in, whether through another population decreasing or increasing due to the dodo or the dodo itself experiencing that same growth or decline.
Research is necessary, whether based in theoretics or experimentation. What would ultimately matter is the delicacy in which the situation is handled, thus integrating the dodo in a sustainable environment for a few years to produce a sufficient population then scattering that population in natural ecosystems.
We wouldn't want another species of panda to be confined to our care indefinitely because they lack the experience of living in the wild and reproduction.
I come to this realization because of the vast environmental changes that came in-between their extinction and when we supposed to bring them back. Theorizing on a deeper level and sharing it here allows for two or more to bounce ideas and create a conclusive thesis based on the research available. It is not definite, but it is better than just hoping for the best.
