Lol definitely not. A lot of people loved it and thought it was a return to form. It sounds nothing like old Bodom and is boring as hell. Hexed finally sounded like old Bodom; it's way better.
1. Hatebreeder 2. Hate Crew Deathroll 3. Follow The Reaper 4. Something Wild 5. Are You Dead Yet 6. Hexed 7. I Worship Chaos 8. Halo Of Blood (haven't listened to this one much admittedly) 9. Relentess Reckless Forever 10. Blooddrunk
My very first metal band... R.I.P. Alexi Laiho, I miss you so much...🤘🏻😞 I love all of their albums but of course some more than others. Hatebreeder is my favorite.🤘🏻❤️ 1. Hatebreeder 2. Been getting into COB a lot recently RIP Alexi 10 Blooddrunk 9 Relentless Reckless forever 8 Something Wild 7 Hexed 6 I worship Chaos 5 Follow the Reaper 4 Halo of Blood 3 Are You Dead Yet? 2 Hatebreeder 1 Hate crew Deathroll
10: Blooddrunk 9: Relentless Reckless Forever 8: I Worship Chaos 7: Hexed 6: Halo of Blood (yes it's definitely underrated, including by me when I first heard it, so no worries there) 5: Are you Dead Yet 4: Something Wild 3: Hatecrew Deathroll 2: Hatebreeder 1: Follow the Reaper ( Nostalgic pick, but my favourite, Kissing the Shadows is my abosolute favorite CoB song)
Hard agree, glad someone sees eye to eye, Hatebreeder is miles ahead of others, which are still good. But damn, the MELODIES, the classical interludes, the hybrid genres, the solo battles, plus literally every song is a banger, one after another in a flurry of 40 minutes. This style is a fucking landmark on music history, they just have fun and slay the melodies like it's nothing.
I’m a huge CoB fan from Finland, I didn’t even get to see Bodom live before Alexi died 😖. But here’s my ranking.. Relentless, Reckless Forever (6,5/10) I Worship Chaos (7/10) Hexed (8,5/10) Something Wild (9,5/10) Blooddrunk (9,5/10) Halo of Blood (9,5/10) Follow the Reaper (10/10) Are You Dead Yet? (10/10) Hatebreeder (10/10) Hate Crew Deathroll (10/10)
For me, it’s quite difficult to rank all the albums worst to best. This’ll be a mixture of bias, objective opinion and some of the reasons why albums are where they are for me: 10: Blooddrunk (I’ll be honest, this is probably the album I re-listen to the least nowadays, not a whole lot to hook me back in, Title track is solid, Done with everything die for nothing and Smile pretty for the devil probably being my other favourite tracks, but not a whole lot outside of that) 9. I worship Chaos (Definitely the most death metal album Bodom has done, in terms of the heavy riffs and even vocal style being a little lower here, but it’s not an album I’ll probably listen to start to finish soon, first 4 tracks, Title track and Widdershins are great, the rest are kind of lacking for me) 8. Relentless, Reckless Forever (you may be surprised to see this higher than said albums, but I find myself listening to more off this album more often. Really enjoy Not my funeral, Roundtrip to hell and back and I fell Ugly and Cry of the Nihilist are a bit underrated (Cry of the nihilist from a technical guitar work standpoint)) 7. Hexed (damn, it sucks to put Bodom’s latest album this low, but it’s not as replayable as a full album, first 3 tracks are solid, as is Kick in a spleen, The title track being the best for me, bar none, then Relapse and the re-recording of Knuckleduster. I actually like the production and even the Drop B sound of this version better. Still a good note to end the band on) 6. Are you dead yet? (Oh dear, those who love this album won’t be happy with this choice, but that’s what opinions and experiences are for, both of which differ and we probably won’t always have the exact same. Anyways, it’s this low because it has one of my favourite Bodom songs as well as some great songs, while also having a couple of my least favourites. Positives: Living dead beat is a tough (this is coming from my outlook as a guitarist) and amazing way to start the album, If you want peace... prepare for war being my favourite on the album (that also being one of my favourite Bodom songs as mentioned above), Next in line, Bastards of Bodom, Trashed lost and strungout and We’re not gonna fall.. that’s a solid line up. Negatives: while no songs are bad on here, Punch me I bleed is a little lacking and I’ll be honest, I’m really not a fan of the title track and In your face, simply for the fact that they’re really overrated and feel too mainstream. I dunno, with In your face at least, it just got a little monotonous for me. Still a great album, but those 2 songs really hold it back for me) 5. Halo of Blood (This and another album for me compete with the title for the most underrated Bodom album, I don’t revisit the album too often, but unlike Blooddrunk or I Worship Chaos, I remember how good the songs really are on this one. All songs are Solid, my favourites being Waste of skin, Bodom Blue moon, Damaged beyond repair, All twisted and One Bottle and A Knee deep. Those who haven’t, please give this album another chance, you want regret it, a good blend of modern and classic Bodom) 4. Something wild (well, it just had to be the first 4 albums. There’s a reason why these albums are hailed. But remember when I said Halo of Blood competes with another album for most underrated? This is that album. I see this very low for most others and I’ll get into that. Cons: I can understand why it may be a bit difficult to get into, as the song structure is very sporadic, there’s a massive neoclassic feel in this one, which I like but it really sticks out in this and that could be a bit harder to get into. It also has the disadvantage (oh yeah should’ve stated these are for the standard editions, no bonus tracks) of being the shortest Bodom album, only having 7 tracks. Pros: on the flip side of a shortage of songs, the songs themselves are pretty damn awesome, I’m not so high on Red light part 1 and 2, but every other track is amazing, the most underrated being The Nail, by far the best on the album. It’s below my top 3 because it doesn’t have quite as much prestige as those albums, and while good, had the weakest production of all albums, maybe except for keyboards) 3. Hatebreeder (Amazing, but it’s probably never going to beat my top 2. Still pretty neoclassical, a bit of black metal here and there, probably the most melodic album and some of the best leads and solos in a Bodom album, not a single lacking track. I mean you have Warheart, Silent night Bodom night, the Title track, Bed of razors, Children of Bodom and of course, Downfall. The others still rule though, Towards dead end, Black widow and Wrath within (the only song off the album never played live)) 2. Follow the reaper (this was incredibly close, in future this could be my number 1, but I have my reasons for my number 1. As for this album, Tremendous from start to finish, production took another step up, this is probably my favourite Bodom production and the songs. All great, 9.5/10 - 10/10 across the board, the only filler spot for me is Northern comfort, about 8/10 and that because even for me, it feels a bit sporadic compared to the rest of the album and doesn’t quite flow as well, but everything else is near perfect. Hatebreeder may be slightly more melodic overall, but the melodies are a bit stronger here, some of the best solo work from Alexi for sure, Bodom after Midnight, Everytime I die, Mask of Sanity, Hate me! and Kissing the shadows being the standout solos. What else can I say? It’s like the Ride the lightning of Children of Bodom) 1. Hate Crew Deathroll (This is my favourite because while something like Halo of Blood had a good blend of old and new, this has the perfect blend. It has some of the melodies of Follow the reaper, some of the trash elements of the later albums, with really all songs encompassing that, there isn’t a single song that feels out of place and had all the right ingredients. Again, along with the previous 2 albums, this is some of the best solo work from Alexi, probably even from Janne. Songs like Sixpounder (which was the song that introduced me to the band in the first place), Chokehold cocked and loaded, Bodom beach terror, Angels don’t kill and the title track being the prime examples. This album is an easy one to get through from start to finish, not a single pace breaker moment, even when it slows down in Angels don’t kill. This is the Master of puppets of Children of Bodom) Sorry this is really long, but at least you’ve got the reasons listed as to why the albums are where they are and not just 1-10 and that’s it.
For me from favourite to least favourite: Hatebreeder - Towards Dead End ( this song is imo the best one of all, sure there are classics but... this song will always be nr 1 for me ) Follow the Reaper - classic album Hate Crew Death Roll - cmon do i need to say anything? Hexed - Return to the old school form Are you dead yet? I worship Chaos - Morrigan Something Wild - old school album yea, but for some reason even if i started with this one it still feels like they were trying to find their own sound with it ( sure there are few classic songs here tho ) Relentless Reckless Forever Halo Of Blood Blooddrunk
my list: 1. Follow The Reaper 2. Hate Crew Deathroll 3. Something Wild 4. Hatebreeder 5. Are you Dead Yet? 6. Hexed 7. Relentless, Reckless, Forever 8. Halo Of Blood 9. Blooddrunk 10. I Worship Chaos
My top 3-5 favorite bands of all time is COB. I’ve heard every song of theirs. Most at least 10x or more lol. That said, before I hear yours, here’s my top 10 albums 10 is worst, 1 is best. 10. I worship Chaos 9. Hexed 8. Hatebreeder 7. Something Wild 6. Relentless Reckless Forever 5. Hate Crew Deathroll 4. Are You Dead Yet? 3. Halo of Blood 2. Blooddrunk 1. Follow the Reaper Now I’m sure I’ll catch some negativity for my own personal list, but idc. It’s mine 😬🤷🏻♂️ Now let’s see how close we are to having the same taste shall we? Lol we’re already starting off on opposite styles hahaha but hey to his each own! I do not like their last 2 albums 1 bit. Hexed/I Worship Chaos, there are no bangers on either album. I too also believe Halo of Blood is their most underrated album.
My Ranking: 1. Follow the Reaper 2. Hate Crew Deathroll 3. Hatebreeder 4. Halo of Blood 5. Are You Dead Yet 6. Hexed 7. Relentless Reckless Forever 8. Something Wild 9. I Worship Chaos 10. Blooddrunk
I haven't listened to their whole discography because I've always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with their music and kind of signed out after the classics. Thus, for me the top 3 is a very basic choice: 1) Hatebreeder 2) Something Wild 3) Follow the Reaper. I do want to check out Hexed and Halo of Blood, I want to give the return to form albums a solid chance. Not too interested in the mid-era material.
Interesting :D I cannot agree more on Halo of Blood, which is also number 3-4 for me. I have a Halo of Blood backpatch on my second vest. Actually I love few songs from both Relentless and Blooddrunk (around 2008-9 I started listening to them, so the memories are great), but I cannot remember a single song title from Hexed (which is a good album, but I cannot enjoy it somehow). I did not like I Worship and Hexed in the first few weeks after the release, but the first one really grew on me with time, Hexed did not. :( Ola Englund has an interesting video about them, within his playlist of bands he did not listen too very much in his youth. And Actually when he listens to a lot of songs in the video, Are You Dead Yet? is the album which he enjoys the most, due to the more groove oriented riffs and direct approach which you also mentioned. My list would be: 1. Follow the Reaper 2. Hatebreeder 3-4 (it depends of my mood, mostly HCD) Hate Crew Deathroll and Halo of Blood 5. Are you dead yet? 6. Something Wild 7. I Worship Chaos 8. Relentless... 9. Blooddrunk 10. Hexed
Bodom is very challenging to rank. Every album ranged from great to classic. Something wild 4/5 Hatebreeder 4.5/5 Follow the reaper 5/5 Hatecrew 5/5 Are you dead yet 4/5 Blooddrunnk 4/5 Relentless, Reckless 4/5 Halo of blood 4.5/5 I worship Chaos 5/5 Hexed 4.5/5
10. Bloodrunk 9. Relentless, Reckless Forever 8. Are You Dead Yet? 7. Hexed 6. I Worship Chaos 5. Hate Crew Deathroll 4. Something Wild 3. Halo of Blood 2. Follow the Reaper 1. Hatebreeder
I'd never heard Children of Bodom before and last month I saw Hatebreeder in a charity shop for £1. I bought it because it's my mission to rescue metal from charity shops. Now I am hooked on this band. Such an amazing album.
1. Something Wild 2. Are You Dead Yet? 3. Hate Crew Deathroll 4. Relentless Reckless Forever 5. Follow The Reaper 6. Hatebreeder 7. Hexed 8. I Worship Chaos 9. Halo Of Blood 10. Blooddrunk
What’s the band mark on your shirt? It looks familiar.I guess I ever heard songs from this band but I don’t remember the name of the band. Could you plz tell me?
All due respect, and no shade thrown, all these so called COB fans don’t even like the majority of their music. I am on the side of HCDR and up. I don’t dislike hatebreeder or follow the reaper. But most of Alexis music came after those albums. I would argue the real COB fans are the ones who enjoy the majority of their other albums and not just their first two. (Or three if you count something wild).
10. Relentless Reckless Forever 9. Blooddrunk 8. Halo of blood 7. I worship chaos 6. Hexed 5. Follow the Reaper 4. Something Wild 3. Hate Crew Deathroll 2. Hatebreeder 1. Are you dead yet
I'm concerned right now because I was searching for people on line who share the view of not being able to enjoy other bands simply because children of bodom was so much better that it spoiled everything else but I think I accidentally came across an alexi liaho fangirls fanfiction of herself and him and I'm afraid I'm going to have to explain to my accountability partner why I was on a page that seemed like the start of a sexual wattpad fanfiction. I clicked away before it was too weird but seriously why I mean that's just kinda creepy
10. I Worship Chaos (The drop B tuning and change in Vocal style was too different for the Bodom sound) 9. Blooddrunk (Not enough melodies, and a bit too repetitive) 8.Relentless, Reckless Forever (Catchy, but a bit slow at times) 7.Hexed (Good overall songs, but no standout solos or riffs) 6. Halo Of Blood (Great songs, very heavy, a bit more modern) 5.Are You Dead Yet? (Super heavy, aggressive, melodies are a bit influenced by modern metal) 4.Something Wild (Fantastic songs, rough production and vocals) 3.Hate Crew Deathroll (Almost all good songs, best vocals, heavy riffs) 2.Hatebreeder ( Epic songs, melodies and solos, nothing bad about it) 1. Follow The Reaper (The ultimate Bodom sound, not a single bad track, perfect masterpiece)
Never understood why people liked Halo. It's such a boring album. Not melodic at all, and Alexi's vocals were at their worst. I used to think RRF was the worst, but Halo is just a little bit worse.
@@Transilvanian90 yes, that's what it seems, but it doesn't make any sense to me, relentless' songs are very good in my view, nowadays I already think halo of blood is much better than I thought 6 months ago, my ranking would be like this from "worst" to best: worship chaos < blooddrunk < are you dead yet

I’m not the biggest CoB fan but I’ll have to agree that halo on blood is underrated
its their only good album past HCDR
Lol definitely not. A lot of people loved it and thought it was a return to form. It sounds nothing like old Bodom and is boring as hell. Hexed finally sounded like old Bodom; it's way better.
Alexi was an extremely talented metal shredder. Losing him was quite depressing since losing lemmy kilmister (RIP to both) 😢

Disagree with most of your list lol, like Follow The Reaper in the middle? that’s my favorite c’mon. Also Are You Dead Yet is very low for me.
@@AssfaceOmega I definitely expected to be in the minority putting Are You Dead Yet Higher than Follow the Reaper lol

2: Hatebreeder
1: Follow the Reaper ( Nostalgic pick, but my favourite, Kissing the Shadows is my abosolute favorite CoB song)
Back in 2008, Triplecorpse Hammerblow was one of the first metal songs I ever heard. Bodom are near and dear to my heart.
Hard agree, glad someone sees eye to eye, Hatebreeder is miles ahead of others, which are still good. I haven't listened to them enough to rank them but ARE YOU DEAD YET? was the first album I heard and it still fucking slays!
I was only 21 when I died ... I love Hatebreeder but Follow the Reaper is a bit better imo! Even to this day it’s an amazing record that I still spin.
I’m a huge CoB fan from Finland, I didn’t even get to see Bodom live before Alexi died 😖. But here’s my ranking..

Agreed but dissapointed with are you dead yet but no problem everyone has there choice 😊
I agree with the Halo of Blood love. Best post Hatecrew album. I'd switch it with Something Wild and I agree with this ranking 100%
For me from favourite to least favourite:
Hatebreeder - Towards Dead End ( this song is imo the best one of all, sure there are classics but... this song will always be nr 1 for me )
Follow the Reaper - classic album
Hate Crew Death Roll - cmon do i need to say anything?
Hexed - Return to the old school form
Are you dead yet?
I worship Chaos - Morrigan
Something Wild - old school album yea, but for some reason even if i started with this one it still feels like they were trying to find their own sound with it ( sure there are few classic songs here tho )
Relentless Reckless Forever

I do not like their last 2 albums 1 bit. Hexed/I Worship Chaos, there are no bangers on either album. I too also believe Halo of Blood is their most underrated album.
Yeah, Something wild isn't their best, but Alexi literally wrote it when he was like 17. He was a guitar genius.
My Ranking:
1. Follow the Reaper

I do want to check out Hexed and Halo of Blood, I want to give the return to form albums a solid chance. Not too interested in the mid-era material.
THE BREAKDOWN OF MASK OF SANITY IS SO FUCKING GOOOD!!!
Ola Englund has an interesting video about them, within his playlist of bands he did not listen too very much in his youth. And Actually when he listens to a lot of songs in the video, Are You Dead Yet? is the album which he enjoys the most, due to the more groove oriented riffs and direct approach which you also mentioned.
My list would be:
1. Follow the Reaper
2. Hatebreeder
3-4 (it depends of my mood, mostly HCD) Hate Crew Deathroll and Halo of Blood
5. Are you dead yet?
6. Something Wild
7. I Worship Chaos
8. Relentless...
9. Blooddrunk
10. Hexed
I only own two: Hate Breeder and Are You Dead Yet ...the latter man, I've struggled with.
Bodom is very challenging to rank. Every album ranged from great to classic.
Something wild 4/5
Hatebreeder 4.5/5
Follow the reaper 5/5
Hatecrew 5/5
Are you dead yet 4/5
Blooddrunnk 4/5
Relentless, Reckless 4/5
Halo of blood 4.5/5
I worship Chaos 5/5
Hexed 4.5/5
Hatebreeder is my personal favorite but I believe their best one is Follow The Reaper.
Rest In Power Alexi
10. Bloodrunk
9. Relentless, Reckless Forever
8. Are You Dead Yet?
7. Hexed
6. I Worship Chaos
5. Hate Crew Deathroll
4. Something Wild
3. Halo of Blood
2. Follow the Reaper
1. Hatebreeder
I'd never heard Children of Bodom before and last month I saw Hatebreeder in a charity shop for £1. I bought it because it's my mission to rescue metal from charity shops. Now I am hooked on this band. Such an amazing album.
Dude, hearing it for the first time back in 1999 was something incredible.
something wild you could say...

For me live in Japan is the best album fucking amazing 😜
1. Something Wild
2. Are You Dead Yet?
3. Hate Crew Deathroll
4. Relentless Reckless Forever
5. Follow The Reaper
6. Hatebreeder
7. Hexed
8. I Worship Chaos
9. Halo Of Blood
10. Blooddrunk
What’s the band mark on your shirt? It looks familiar.I guess I ever heard songs from this band but I don’t remember the name of the band. Could you plz tell me?
I actually think Bloodrunk is a bit underrated. It has a lot of nasty riff songs
Hatebreeder is the GOAT
9:50 Lake bodom is on Something Wild ;)
All due respect, and no shade thrown, all these so called COB fans don’t even like the majority of their music. I am on the side of HCDR and up. I don’t dislike hatebreeder or follow the reaper. But most of Alexis music came after those albums. I would argue the real COB fans are the ones who enjoy the majority of their other albums and not just their first two. (Or three if you count something wild).
Even though I'm in the first 4 albums are best camp. I enjoy all of their albums and listen to their entire catalog during work.
hatebreeder and hexed are their best in my opinion. follow the reaper follows close behind. i worship chaos is easily my least favorite
5. Something Wild
4. Halo of blood
3. HateCrew deathroll
2. Hatebreeder
1. Follow the reaper
10. Relentless Reckless Forever
9. Blooddrunk
8. Halo of blood
7. I worship chaos
6. Hexed
5. Follow the Reaper
4. Something Wild
3. Hate Crew Deathroll
2. Hatebreeder
1. Are you dead yet
Hate Crew Deathroll is the best! And Follow The Reaper is a close second
I clicked away before it was too weird but seriously why I mean that's just kinda creepy
lol; ah, the wonders of internet rabbit holes
CoB seems like just one album with tracks organized however one likes. Just put them on a shuffle.
How can i get in the discord
10. I Worship Chaos (The drop B tuning and change in Vocal style was too different for the Bodom sound)
9. Blooddrunk (Not enough melodies, and a bit too repetitive)
8.Relentless, Reckless Forever (Catchy, but a bit slow at times)
7.Hexed (Good overall songs, but no standout solos or riffs)
6. Halo Of Blood (Great songs, very heavy, a bit more modern)
5.Are You Dead Yet? (Super heavy, aggressive, melodies are a bit influenced by modern metal)
4.Something Wild (Fantastic songs, rough production and vocals)
3.Hate Crew Deathroll (Almost all good songs, best vocals, heavy riffs)
2.Hatebreeder ( Epic songs, melodies and solos, nothing bad about it)
1. Follow The Reaper (The ultimate Bodom sound, not a single bad track, perfect masterpiece)
I like Blooddrunk quite a bit. They got heavier and there wasn't as much of that silly, power metal keyboard driven crap.
Follow the Reaper
Hatebreeeder
Something Wild
Hatecrew
Blooddrunk
Relentless
Halo of Blood
Are you dead yet
Hexed (too recent tho)
I worhip Chaos
I rank them in a similar way but i would stop to blooddrunk .. everything else is quite meh . I didn't like it .
Dont get the hate for RRF or Blooddrunk. They are both magnitudes better than I Worship Chaos
I enjoy the more melo death albums they’ve done but the more power influenced albums I don’t see myself liking to much
Never understood why people liked Halo. It's such a boring album. Not melodic at all, and Alexi's vocals were at their worst. I used to think RRF was the worst, but Halo is just a little bit worse.
"not melodic at all" you might want to get your hearing checked
As of now for me it is Follow the Reaper at the top.
halo of blood in 3rd? kkkkk. relentles in last? kkkkkkkkk you're a a strange guy
Relentless has a lot of negative reviews.
@@Transilvanian90 yes, that's what it seems, but it doesn't make any sense to me, relentless' songs are very good in my view, nowadays I already think halo of blood is much better than I thought 6 months ago, my ranking would be like this from "worst" to best:
worship chaos < blooddrunk < are you dead yet
RRF seems to be everyone's least favorite
