Hi - great video and I'm in the same situation. I have mine apart and yes, it is that part that has split. Trying to find the part on eBay. Question: what do I call it for my search. I've tried a number of things but no luck. Thanks.
Search for " Karcher K Series Pressure Washer Elbow Outlet" or " Karcher K Series Pressure Washer Elbow Outlet 9.036-703.0/9036703". Make sure to get one exactly the same pattern as fitted. Don't get ripped off. Prices vary enormously on Ebay. Cheers Rob
I was about to buy a new power washer until I saw this video. now I did the repair myself and it's good as new. Thank you very much for the help. Brilliant video.
1 year old Karcher K3 leaking, couldn't find warranty list, so I opened it by myself. Same leaking part. FFS "who" on earth put a tiny plastic for that high pressure.. Thanks for info, got it on ebay, but it is pricier now, not just 15$. Still worth it, thanks again.
Mine did the same thing unsurprisingly. I tossed the elbow in the bin and screwed the hose directly to the pump. Cut a hole in the bottom for the hose and job done. Its stronger that way and I've had no problems dragging the machine around by the hose over the years.
I had exactly the same problem. When you remove the right angled leaking part the part it clips onto has the same thread. I just screwed the hose directly onto this and cut a hole in the end for the hose to poke out. $0 repair only disadvantage can no longer stand the Karcher on end. I have since progressed to an Aldi petrol pressure washer. Pump appears to be all metal. I now wash the same area with much better results and in at least a quarter of the time the Karcher took. Good video and your freebie machine cost a lot less than my new pressure washer.
Thanks for the tip Hugh. The fact that you get zero support from Karcher on this obvious weak point is pretty poor. Crappy design and crappy after sales service. Says it all. Cheers Rob
I contacted Karcher Australia through their on-line support facility regarding the correct part number for the repair. I did not even receive a reply. So I can only rate thir support service as dismally poor. In comparison the UK seller I bought the part from was most helpful. See the full video description for the part number. Cheers Rob.
From 3:30s on, the crack damage is from dragging the unit around by the HP hose. The cheap plastic outlet isn't designed to handle the abuse. Good fix by getting a replacement part after discovering that almost nothing bonds to poly. Unfortunately, this new outlet, too, will probably fail from regular use. Bad design with cheap part material. The next part to go on this unit will be one or more of the control head, check valves or valve seals. Karchers are so cheaply made that, like filament light bulbs, are designed to conk so the customer will buy another. Perhaps the prior owner had the right idea by tossing on the curb.
Hi Jason, They are light duty units for sure. Totally agree with your comments. The only way to prolong the control head and valves is to prime the pump (put water through it) before powering up. Cheers Rob
I would put a straight outlet instead of this elbow one and make a whole in the outer casing to accommodate the modification ... This way i would gain more pressure , not overloading the motor by unnecessary elbow and should last longer.
I’ve had seven of these and every one has done the same thing, each time I’ve got In touch and they sent me a new one but now they said no more under warranty if I had looked at this I would have repaired the old ones, so tomorrow I’m going to see if the one I have now will repair, if it works I’ll put a advertisement saying I’ll buy your old leaking Karcher 😂😂😂
If Karcher falls forward, high pressure hose transfers impact to part replaced.. Being a right angle, it is the weakest point. On some K2 s it sticks right out.
So I've only used this pressure washer one time. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP The one time I used it, it worked great. I recently had new siding installed but kept the old gutters and small areas surrounding my house that weren't replaced so they looked horrible and dirty because of the new siding. I needed to get it cleaned asap. When I used the pressure washer, man it just melted all the dirt and grime that was on those areas of my house. I used that krud kutter soap and it was over after that. Easy to assemble, feels durable, very simple to use. Also, I purchased a used one to save money and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I want to get more use out of it so I think I'll be washing the cars and update this comment as time goes on.
I was just about to buy a new one after my 4 month old K4 froze in the winter. Will dismantle tomorrow to see if it is as simple. The Kärcher service centre told me it was not worth repairing it and told me to buy a new one. They said a new motor would cost me 850 dollars which was more than a new washer cost.
Great video!! I live here in the UK.I too had had this problem, but at first I didn't realize. Until the water was spraying out the vents!! So I took mine apart had found the same issue Ordered new part today off Ebay ,getting it on Friday. So hoping to clean my patio and wash out my wheely bins. Now,I was wondering if Karcher had realized how puny this outlet connector was, (compared as you rightly said the water inlet) Why could it not be made in one part,or some sort of alloy? Given the big pressure its under,or to make it so their is no seam and thicker material? My other issue is there is not support on that stem further up.Like mine seems a bit fragile, until the casing goes one
Glad you found it useful. It's easy to step on the pressure hose outlet and it needs to be made of thicker walled pipe same as the inlet. It is also a poor fit in the main plastic housing. Mine is still going fine after the repair many years ago, but it doesn't get a lot of use. One way to help it last longer is to always turn on the water and pull the trigger before turning on the power. This will make sure the pump head /valves are not dry as it will flow water through the system before the pump starts up. That's what I was told years ago and it sounds like a good idea to me. Cheers Rob
