I gotta say, I really liked the beginning minutes of this video. You portrayed the frustration in a comical way and as the viewer, we are able to feel that same frustration alongside you. I was literally LOL-ing because I was able to relate to those feelings. Great work!! Someone had previously mentioned to try EDC-ing these items for a week or so and do follow up videos on those items. I think that would be pretty rad.
Thanks for all the effort for such a fun interesting yet short video. The amount of effort you spend behind the camera on these videos is very appreciated! Thank you!
Also I think you could find some good choices at Sierra! They definitely have some decent choices in flashlights, multitools, knives, but not sure about wallets or pens.
The Zebra F-701 is amazing! It’s just a heavy duty version of the 301. All metal, thicker walls, and mine got run over by a car and didn’t squish. Great budget pen and the refills are available everywhere.
When you do these videos i think you should carry everything for a week or so and give feedback on you initial impressions vs after you've used the gear. Especially after sharpening and maybe breaking in that gerber
The Gerber Dime and the Timex Expedition are always staples for a super affordable carry. They have incredible quality and value for the money. I considered picking up that Gerber knife to try out, and I am glad now that I didn't. I would like to see you put together a carry from like an antique shop or thrift store. Might be a fun challenge even if you have to go to a few of them.
I had an identical experience with a recent Gerber purchase. I wound up returning it to the store. If a flipper won't flip right out of the box without maintenance, and it's dull to boot, it's indicative of lousy quality control. Gerber makes some good stuff, but their budget offerings are junk these days.
Hey Taylor I know I am late seeing this video but I actually liked the look of the Gerber Quadrant knife. Was wondering if you sharpened it up and if you did how would you feel about it after it came out of the package that way?? And after oiling it up for better flip action?? Let me know 👍🏼
I always thought it was Shady how Dicks quietly moved Firearms over to Field and Stream if I am correct, but tried to garner the "Favor" of Anti Gun Folk by keeping that Quiet
CVS/Walgreens. Not entirely sure they would have anything, but, if you were to fly somewhere let’s say, can’t take a knife and stuff on a plane, could you run into a cvs which is everywhere, and put together an edc to get you through your trip?
They need to grow up and start selling grown up food and stop with that baby food stuff. That baby has grown up by now and so has his taste and stomach. He needs bigger portions
If you can find one, find a Tractor Supply. I have one nearby that’s pretty good with its selection in anything really.....except watches, they don’t carry them.
Every so often someone in a forum will defend Gerber as the "great American knife maker" and every time I shake my head. Every single Gerber I've ever bought, over thirty years, has at best been an "ok" knife, but most have outright sucked. Their multi-tools are usually a bit better though.
For 29.99 at Home Depot, I picked up a CRKT Piet while I was shopping for tools to make my own knives. Super big fan of Jesper Voxnaes designs, so I bought the Piet and boy o boy do I love this little thing. Such a great knife for 30 bucks. Super sharp, great action, deep carry. Only wish there was jimping on the back of the blade, but other than that perfect little budget folder.
Maybe try Field and Stream if there is one near you? Dicks made them as a subsidiary for their outdoor stuff. Basically the same as Bass Pro or Cabella’s. Enjoying this series though
OMG.. When you called that Gerber blade "obtuse" I swear I almost peed my pants. As far as Gerber Dime, great little multi tool. Had that for a while and then replaced with Leatherman Micra.. Honestly, like the Dime better.
I wish we could drag you across to the UK and have you do our budget household store WILKOS just for the challenge! 😆As usual very entertaining video, thanks. 👍
Just got an Ontario rat 1 in aus 8... shaving sharp right out of the box, also got a Gerber paralite it was dull as heck right out of the box. same issue that you had with that knife. The one side of the blade has about a 20 degree angle on it the other has maybe a 10 but that's a maybe. Overall not impressed at all by Gerber. Love the videos. Always nice to see the an honest review.
Hey man, love your videos and this content is great. Honestly not sure why your likes and comments are so low for this. This is good stuff. Keep doing what you are doing. Editing was also good.
I was told here in Florida that they were eliminating the hunting scene here at a Dick’s , luckily in Upstate NY where it originated from still has a hunting section
I have the quadrant somewhere around here and mine is sharp but the flipper is pointless on mine. I’ve oiled it and repeatedly manually tried to work it and still sometimes it’ll wrist flick.
I recently got that exact timex and got a replacement band from Threaded Leather, it's real leather, similar color with the threading and it's my hard use everyday watch. I was surprised by it. Not too long ago someone complimented me on my watch too. I highly suggest getting a better band for that watch. It's also a loud watch.
the supply chain issue makes me think people might put more effort into maintaining their stuff instead of breaking/buying new again which seems good. that gerber knife was pitiful looking.
Working theory: the knives sold at Target or similar retailers are purposely dull so that if an assailant gets ahold of them, they can’t do too much if they attack or threaten an employee or other guest. Sincerely, Target Worker
Sorry but the scissors on the dime suck, the handle edge hits the main part of the multitool when trying/closing to cut. And it can cut anything, that's why I'd recommend the leatherman squirt.
I mean I know gerber is known for cheap but all of the knives I usually put in my pocket that are flippers are usually gerber or Benchmade, or Kershaw and some of then was not cheap in terms of cost and have lasted me years. I got a kettle bell that tip broke off when I was tying off the bail to a cardboard compactor and the blade is still sharp and still finds itself in my pocket over the 100 dollar gerber fastball I got. And it also doesn't help that I'm more of a fixed blade person but my job restricts carrying a knife but everyone has a pocket knife so I just carry mine. During the winter months when Ima be dressed in more clothing I'll go back to my fixed blade knives. And I haven't had any issues with dull blades either. Idk if that's just a lemon or I manage to get lemons but yeah sorry.
I use a Gerber Arm drive and a Kershaw Cyro 2 and I think they hold up incredibly well for the price. Both are about 30 each and I've beaten them to hell and back
That line of energizer lights is pretty solid (the aa model). I’ve had the 3x aaa version. And I have a pretty solid collection. The tint was even pretty acceptable on the one I had.
I would have liked to have seen him sharpen the knife then give his thoughts on it. I like my quadrant. None of what he said about it was wrong but I've found it sharpens nicely and I like it's asthetic. Never really thought the necessary wrist flick to open was a major problem. I guess coming from a guy who's average knife is 10x the price it's understandable though.
There’s likely more but here’s a decent list to take a look at. CJRB Rampart Artisan Cutlery Megahawk CRKT Razelcliffe Kizer Shard QSP Pelican Kansept Stellar Kansept Main Street CJRB Crag Bestech Spanish Tip Kizer DOCK Quatch
Love the videos and know this is off topic but can anyone here tell me where I can find a edc knuck that's made in the US?all the ones I keep finding that I like are all made and shipped from China which I refuse to buy. found 1 that I like that's a ti/brass single finger knuck on etsy from a seller in the Ukraine but would really like to support people making edc products in the US especially if im paying upwards of $150-$200.would really like to find either a flamed titanium or a bronze or even a brass knuck to add to my edc.any info anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated
Hi. I have ben watching your videos for a long time now. Thank you for them. Have a question and was hoping you could help- i have 35yrs at the company that i work for and got to pick a gift-i picked a Casio Gshock GG-1000. I was wondering if you could tell me how to change the temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit i would really appreciate any help. Thank you and keep up the video’s. Have a good day
I think they doing Field and Stream combo stores in many locations. They moved most of that stuff to the Field and Stream side in those stores I been to.
Between the Gerber dime and the Leatherman squirt ps4 which one would you guys recommend? I'm not from the US, so both have relatively steep prices, but I'm looking for a good Keychain multitool tu substitute the crap one I have
Ditto. Go for the Leatherman PS4. It works and doesn't break with light household tasks unlike the Gerber. If you want better scissors and don't need pliers, go for the Victorinox Rambler, Manager, or Midnite Manager.
You should do one from a military surplus store!! They have decent gear. Or one from somewhere like LAPG.
Awesome idea bro!
Big support this idea
Nope, gotta look like you're not suspicious. You go to any surplus store... Automatic watch list
I think that would be pretty rad.
i thought the intro was funny also 😂🤣
I have a gerber dime. I’m in highschool so I took the Blake’s out and it’s saved my teachers from needing to call the office for tools.
Thanks for all the effort for such a fun interesting yet short video. The amount of effort you spend behind the camera on these videos is very appreciated! Thank you!

I would not subject Taylor to this type of torture. At least not this time around. Maybe from a better store.
I didn't know Dick's Sporting Goods was owned by Target.
its not
I too was misled by the looks of the Gerber Quadrant……then I tried to flip it open…….it’s been in my gas station knife/junk drawer ever since !!!
The Gerber Dime and the Timex Expedition are always staples for a super affordable carry. They have incredible quality and value for the money. I considered picking up that Gerber knife to try out, and I am glad now that I didn't.

The amount of effort you put into your videos is great. Im a new subscriber and im pleasantly surprised.
Happy to see a target episode. I’m in there every other week. Unfortunate about the gerber quadrant because it looks sick.
I had an identical experience with a recent Gerber purchase. I wound up returning it to the store. I was the Lodge Lead and fire arms salesman at Dicks for 2 years till they caved to media hysteria and closed my whole department down. Screw them.
I always thought it was Shady how Dicks quietly moved Firearms over to Field and Stream if I am correct, but tried to garner the "Favor" of Anti Gun Folk by keeping that Quiet
I've had that card holder for a while and, though I'm not too hard on my stuff, it's held up really well.
Have you tried to build an EDC from Tractor Supply? That might be cool.
CVS/Walgreens. Not entirely sure they would have anything, but, if you were to fly somewhere let’s say, can’t take a knife and stuff on a plane, could you run into a cvs which is everywhere, and put together an edc to get you through your trip?
It’s sad to me that Gerber is still ok with just pumping out non QC’d items. Or just cheap stuff in general. They could do a lot more. Oh well.
They need to grow up and start selling grown up food and stop with that baby food stuff. That baby has grown up by now and so has his taste and stomach. He needs bigger portions
Gerber in general is just shit, it's a lost cause by now
If you can find one, find a Tractor Supply. I have one nearby that’s pretty good with its selection in anything really.....except watches, they don’t carry them.
Hey could you look at doing a UK legal EDC? I'd be interested to see what your picks are for knives!
Every so often someone in a forum will defend Gerber as the "great American knife maker" and every time I shake my head. Every single Gerber I've ever bought, over thirty years, has at best been an "ok" knife, but most have outright sucked. Their multi-tools are usually a bit better though.
Should try Cabela’s!! One opened up recently and it looks nice
For 29.99 at Home Depot, I picked up a CRKT Piet while I was shopping for tools to make my own knives. the supplies at your local retailers could be linked to the delays over at the ports. EVERYONE is getting screwed in the supply chain right now.
I am 72 years old and ny new goal in life is to use up all the pens and pencils I have saved up all those years
That little Gerber Dime cut my artery in my hand by accident ofcourse. The blade in the Dime is more sharp than the gerber folding knife. Haha
That Gerber knife is kind of nice looking. You should have tried to sharpen it to see how it holds an edge.
Maybe try Field and Stream if there is one near you? Dicks made them as a subsidiary for their outdoor stuff. Basically the same as Bass Pro or Cabella’s. Enjoying this series though
I just recently bought a Gerber armbar cork. Love it
The F301 in blue is my go-to pen. Has been forever.
Casio Wolrd Time (Casio Royale) for $20 dollars would have been way better watch with 10x the functions.
I like the design of that Gerber. Does anyone have any suggestions for a bullcutter style flipper?
you should try an office max/depot EDC carry and for a pen grab a Tul my favorite "cheap" pen by far
Just got an Ontario rat 1 in aus 8... shaving sharp right out of the box, also got a Gerber paralite it was dull as heck right out of the box. same issue that you had with that knife. This is good stuff. Keep doing what you are doing.
Editing was also good.
My local target has a larger version of the flashlight you chose. It uses 3 AAA batteries and is 350 linens.
Video idea.
Do a relatively short video explaining how you come across the gear/stuff
Nice to see a video that does feature all high-dollar items that working people can’t afford.
What's do you think of smart watches
I was told here in Florida that they were eliminating the hunting scene here at a Dick’s , luckily in Upstate NY where it originated from still has a hunting section
I have the quadrant somewhere around here and mine is sharp but the flipper is pointless on mine. I’ve oiled it and repeatedly manually tried to work it and still sometimes it’ll wrist flick.
What do you do with the store bought edc accessories
Actually own that wallet in brown and I’ve had it for about 2-3 years and it’s held up well enough for what’s it’s worth
I have that watch. Isn't real fancy, and the bands are pretty worn now, but its been great for wearing around town.
Hey Taylor, Where do you get most if not all of your landyard beads ?
Hahaha the beginning of the video was just priceless 😂😂😂
What brand of hoodie are you wearing in your video? Thank you
In your honest opinion what is the best EDC belt pouch for small tools
Do you think that you could do an EDC for the UK all off amazon..?
So Gerber makes a butter knife folder? Lol. You should try a Big Lots EDC. Thank you for the video!
Honestly can never go wrong with a pilot g2. I carry a parker jotter fountain pen and pilot g2 as back up or if I need a pen with black ink.
You should try an Ace Hardware if you have them.
I like when you open flash light.. i very2 excited
Is that gerber knife worse than the paraframe?
I bet the Gerber dines knife is sharper than the quadrant.
what watch are you wearing on your wrist in the video?
the supply chain issue makes me think people might put more effort into maintaining their stuff instead of breaking/buying new again which seems good. that gerber knife was pitiful looking.
Target used to sell some victorinox models(classic SD and tinker)
It’s a shame they stopped selling them
Yep, I got a tinker and a climber there. They also use to carry Coast flashlights. Those are decent budget lights.
How long did you wait before returning it all 😆
Gerber really did a fine job making the Razel clone from CRKT look desirable. I mean come on 7Cr grade steel??
I mean I know gerber is known for cheap but all of the knives I usually put in my pocket that are flippers are usually gerber or Benchmade, or Kershaw and some of then was not cheap in terms of cost and have lasted me years. I have that same knife and it was sharp out if package....i actually like it and keep it in my pack as a spare
You should have gotten the metallic sharpie S pens. They put the Zebra pens to shame.
You should definitely go to Cabela’s in Fort Mill. They’ve got a decent selection of knives. Better than Bass Pro at Concord Mills imo
My targets have several SAKs that would have been great as a knife/tool selection. I love a Swiss Army knife. So practical with a classic design.
Try West Marine for a complete EDC carry. It should have a good selection even with the supply chain thing going on.
You should try ace hardware/true value
What watch are you wearing at 5:52 in the video? It is not in the links section.
I've bought all of my SAKs at Tarzhay. Sadly all they sell these days are gerber...
I would have liked to have seen him sharpen the knife then give his thoughts on it. I like my quadrant. None of what he said about it was wrong but I've found it sharpens nicely and I like it's asthetic. Never really thought the necessary wrist flick to open was a major problem. I guess coming from a guy who's average knife is 10x the price it's understandable though.
the problem is that even as a budget knife it's shit
I've got a gerber dime that I found, thought I lost it, its fun and good to have around for sure!
What about Sportsman’s Warehouse
I got a knife at gander outdoors the other day for like $5 from Triton tatical and its wayyyy sharper than what that gerber was 😂
You should do pawn shops
What are some good knives that have the same shape/aesthetic as that Gerber?
There’s likely more but here’s a decent list to take a look at.
CJRB Rampart
Artisan Cutlery Megahawk
CRKT Razelcliffe
Kizer Shard
QSP Pelican
Kansept Stellar
Kansept Main Street
CJRB Crag
Bestech Spanish Tip
Kizer DOCK Quatch
You should do one at Sportsman’s Warehouse.
Try Walmart in Kannapolis....🙃
Target has or at least used to have some Swiss Army knives like the Tinker and Classic.
Home depot would be interesting to see.

The Timex watches are extremely loud
Walmart ,or home depot or both wood be good.
Dunhams sports edc???
I have that 130 lumens Energizer Flashlight. It's really good quality.
Lol. I just got that Gerber knife. My knife was sharp. Not razor tho
Get a Casio AE1200 "Royal". The only watch you'll ever need.
Between the Gerber dime and the Leatherman squirt ps4 which one would you guys recommend? I'm not from the US, so both have relatively steep prices, but I'm looking for a good Keychain multitool tu substitute the crap one I have
Leatherman squirt ps4
Ditto. Go for the Leatherman PS4. It works and doesn't break with light household tasks unlike the Gerber. If you want better scissors and don't need pliers, go for the Victorinox Rambler, Manager, or Midnite Manager.
You can't expect much from gerber the blade is made of aluminum foil even if you sharpened it it would dull super fast
If you have a Cabelas or Bass Pro close, DICK’S will not stock fishing/hunting gear because they cannot compete. Learned the hard way.
Try Sportsman’s’s Warehouse in Greensboro 😉 you won’t be disappointed!
Sportsman’s warehouse is awesome!
Tractor suplly store, john deere, rdo, etc
You should do an auto parts store like AutoZone !
