After one too many rental scooter rides around town and a hefty bill to go with it, we chose to bite the bullet and buy a scooter to keep at our house and use at will. The app control on this one is a plus that we hadn’t considered. It’s nice to be able to lock the scooter when at a store or whatever when we don’t have a chain to lock it up manually. The little thing is very light for carrying back to my desk at work and it’s compact enough to fit under it when folded. The battery is impressive as it takes me to a from work on a single charge with some left over. It’s sleek and works wonderfully as it zips down the road. Fast start up and good brakes, too!

I think you did a great job laying down the perks of the light heavyweight class of scooters that are available right now. Nice vid!

I like it. Took me back to the days when I used only a motorcycle instead of a car. Some of the same advantages and drawbacks. To ride in winter, you needed a snowmobile suit, and that took time to get on and off.

I had a Toyota Hilux, it’s parked up at home or my partner uses it sometimes, but I ended up getting a Wolf King GT Pro, and trust me, every ride feels like the first one. So many benefits 😊

The scooters simple handling, and impressive speed. l describe it as sturdy, stable, and equipped with reliable brakes, also it’s lightweight and easy to carry, seeing it as a good value for the price. I also enjoy its smooth ride and the convenience of easy transport, noting it as an affordable and practical way to get around. Battery life can last for a while.

I did become a legend in my motorcycling community --- "Hey, Tracy rides all year!!!" Overall, it took a lot of forethought, preparation and accepting disadvantages. Eventually, I went the lazy route and got a car, despite the drawbacks, just a lot easier and more comfortable. Did one cross-country trip on the bike --- 7000 miles in 14 days. Thanks for the nostalgia. By the way, my motorcycle cost far less than that scooter!!

Nice video. I missed you talking about comfort. I have a NIU KWi 3 Max, and after a few days and on long rides, like 15 minutes, the ride quality is a factor. Suspension is so important on scooters, the whole bit, tires, suspensions, arms, coils, etc. I tested drive the Inokim OXO and the Apollo Phantom. It's day and night compared to single motors, not suspension scooters. Phantom is another level.

In California we can not ride on the sidewalks but riding on the road is fine as long as there is a bicycle lane. Scooters do get stolen so you will not want to leave the scooter unattended. In a supermarket you can just fold it up and put it in your shopping cart. For a doctor’s office I would take it into the waiting room and leave it there. It’s not likely to get stolen inside a waiting room.

Have you biked in NYC before? It's hard to say if you haven't, riding here whether on a bike or scooter can be daunting at times depending on where you go. The commute you mentioned would be totally fine for a new rider, stick to the bike lanes such as West Street (very quiet) or Manhattan Ave to reach Pulaski via Eagle Street, then you're basically right by the subway across the bridge. The intersection at the other side of the bridge is a bit hectic, so just proceed with caution due to turning vehicles. Also there are a lot of nice routes within and around Greenpoint that can be good for new riders. Kent Ave for example, and also Berry Street when it has the Open Street up is very safe to ride.

I typically use it to commute to work, which is around 11 miles round trip. I don't know why I didn't make this decision sooner, especially with the massive gas prices in my area. I do have to leave home earlier for work, though, which is the only downside so far.

I haven't bought a scooter yet but I am shopping for one. I have a disability that won't allow me to get a driver's license or operate a car but I have no issues with bikes since I rode my aunt's around last summer a bit (though still confused where it should be on the road) It seems like a electric scooter would be a affordable mode of transportation to give me a little more independence and freedom

I ride in bike lanes when available but they can be a bit crazy. Lot of e-bikes and e-mopeds racing around Manhattan, going the wrong way, running red lights. The speed limit on scooters is supposed to be 15mph but at that speed you're getting passed by everyone... I prefer to keep up with a group so we can all cross streets together and not get hit by the guy turning, if you're coming up after everyone the car sees the gap and tries to turn.

If you're buying any scooter that works with an app be sure the seller is able to "unbind" it from their app or you will not be able to use the app. If they can't unbind it's a possible sign the scooter is stole

Batteries can lose capacity over time, especially if they aren't charged responsibly or are subjected to extreme temperatures. But you can't just ask how far it goes on a charge, that varies with the rider and the route.

Inspect the scooter very good , recently bought a scooter that “only” needed a new charger, upon arriving home I found out the charge port on the scooter itself was destroyed (unagi no replacement parts available). Second unagi i purchased is locked to someone else and nothing I can do. Waiting to hear back from unagi still to confirm if stolen or what. I have a third scooter in my sights but honestly I might just buy new at this point.

There's a pretty big scooter community in NYC, I know a couple FB groups but not sure about groups on Reddit aside from r/ElectricScooters/ . I picked up my second scooter earlier this year, I've got a bike and used to ride it more when I was in Brooklyn, and rode motorcycles ages ago, and own a car in Manhattan.

Crime is really bad in my city and Id be afraid of having my scooter stolen while in a store or Doctor appointment so I've been looking at bags to place the foldable scooter that can be carried on the back, however it looks quite large like a.very large black duffle bag that might worry people while going to my doctor's appointments in the waiting room.

Mine was 26 lbs and I found it not very portable at all. I wouldn't carry it with me inside a store. It was too heavy and bulky. I could take it into the lobby of mcdonalds to pop in for 3 min but I wouldn't go into a dept store with it.
