My recommendation is to skip Overrun and in its place add Vivien's Stampede. It cost 1 more Mana but also give all creatures vigilance to protect against a crack back if it doesn't finish the job and let's you draw up to 3 cards. It's also only like 20 cents
Some superstar cards that I've enjoyed playing in my Faldorn: -Cryptolith Rite, Citanul Hierophant, and Jaheira Friend of the forest for mad token ramps. -Grenzo Havoc Raiser for exiling and casting your opponents cards. -Sylvan Anthem to both buff wolves and scry when they etb.
I was literally thinking about this yesterday and wishing "I wish their was a Upping the Average of this deck"...then again I think about that for alot of decks
This commander is so much fun ! I once flashbacked Ignite the future into a Ghalta + overwhelming stampede with a haste enabler on board. One of the most fun moment I ever had in EDH so far.
This was my first precon back in Commander, and I’m glad my friends and I basically tuned this deck to exactly what you recommend. Always love the content Joey!
Really like Ogre Battledriver in the deck. Also not that it's a big pull, but I got Wand of Wonder in the mini booster pack in the precon, so that was as an easy swap for the worse version included.
I have been playing Faldorn for a while and a big thing I have done is jam a lot of the cheaper extra land drop cards avaliable. When you can play 3 lands a turn from exile each turn and get 3 wolves for it its kind of wild. And the mana helps cast the cards you are drawing. Also in regards to overrun, one of my favorite versions of it here is Surge to Vuctory. Because of how it's worded each copy we cast when the wolves connect will make a wolf so it's even useful for value on a 1 or 2 mana spell. And if you exile say I spired tinkering that's +5 attack and you draw 3 cards and make 3 treasures per wolf that connects
Also, in general with exile draw based decks leaning away from cards that are situational helps a lot. I removed the green slime card because if I hit it off a this turn draw spell it does actual nothing. Same with some overrun type cards. If you hit it when you don't have a board that can attack that turn its a wasted draw. Also also faldorn gets killed all the time. Without her you are still drawing so many cards it doesn't matter but people WILL notice how many wolves she makes and act accordingly.
I would recommend Atsushi, the Blazing Sky for my fellow Faldorn players. Both death triggers are relevant (impulse drawing or making treasures) but a 4/4 flample creature gives the deck a bit of air-presence it otherwise lacks.
So I tried out Omen Machine in my deck, it was brutal. I totally shut everyone else down while I stormed off. But I cut it because it was unfun for everyone else. It is also really easy to get Beastmaster's ascention to give +5/+5. I like to have payoffs for creatures entering, like purphuros and impact tremors. Also a sensei's top can be amazing to set up your impulse draw.
Creative Technique it gives you two spells and two wolves. Yes an opponent gets a benefit but our benefit is just really good. Sylvan Anthem is no slouch either. Lots of scrying for exile/cascade and pumps the team. Audacious Swap also trades one wolf for two spells/lands essentially.
I'll say it pretty much every time exile decks come up, but I love that all red color pairs have at least one exile-matters commander. I love that effects like Stolen Strategy (and Nassari's triggered ability, which is the same thing), Etali, Chaos Wand, and Wand of Wonder open up lines of play that you might not normally have access to, leading to unique moments and exciting games (in my biased opinion). I like to share the love with Share the Spoils, letting everyone cast from exile if they want. If you want to go full chaos, Throes of Chaos is a nice repeatable cascade effect. Faithless Salvaging and Merchant of the Vale are some good looting effects that can be cast from exile later, especially good if you want to play up the Madness theme. Madness is the one major "cast from exile" keyword ability I don't have in my Nassari deck, but Rebound, Foretell, Suspend, and Cascade are all present.
Vivien, Champion of the Wilds has never felt good to play in any deck I put her in. Her dig effect rarely hits, and the passive and +1 abilities are inconsequential. I would recommend cutting it ASAP
I found out I don't really like cards with Rebound in this deck. The reason is that if we cast them from exile (which could be very well happening more than from our hand) Rebound doesn't activate. So for example Terramorph, which was in the precon by the way, is not good in the deck in my opinion.
Cards that enable additional land drops are great in Faldorn. I would also cut Warstorm Surge for Impact Tremors because most of your creatures are smaller (2/2 wolves, for example). Return of the Wildspeaker also isn't super great in the deck - yes, it's flexible, but there aren't many high powered creatures and there are some humans in the deck, including Faldorn, it also doesn't give trample, which can be a big problem.
With Faldorn Exile the access to green let’s you go really big. I would definitely play Azusa, Mina and Denn, Exploration, Wyward Swordtooth, Oracle of Mul Daya, and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove to play more the lands from big exile spells to just crap out a lot of tokens for free. Cards like Grand Warlord Radha, Cryptolith Rite, Elven Chorus, Jaheira, Klauth, Druid’s Repository, and old Gnawbone. I actually would not use most overruns since they can pop up at inopportune times and brick you. Cards like Shared Animosity and Roar of resistance are more than enough to pump out damage wile also being easier to play.
I've loved this deck since it came out. I've tried running it in different versions but the most fun I've had is a more aggro style. Jaheira from Baldur's Gate and Cryptolith Rite are amazing mana generators and mana echoes is godlike as well. I mainly attack with my wolves so Shared animosity is amazing in this deck as well. Such a great deck, great job WotC!
My recommendations for the deck would be master of the hunt, saryth, vipers fang, tamiyo's safekeeping, either/or both rootwallas( 0 madness= free wolf), Emerald dragon(green stifle), and fighting ring,.
I was thinking the same thing. Obviously Mizzium Mortars doesn't hit all that hard, but it does have upside in that you can cast it from exile for cheap if you are low on mana. High cost spells in this deck are likely to get lost in the exile zone, unable to be used.
is visions of phyrexia worth it just by virtue of being an outpost siege clone?? because idk what im missing but i can't exactly see a usage for multiple powerstones
If you have a turn where you don't cast something from exile and get the powerstone something went wrong imo. But if it happens, faldorns ability can use 1. I don't think it's very good here. We have so many outpost sieges now we can be a little picky about which ones we really want. Like brazen Cannonade is absurd. Og outpost siege too. The landfall one. There isn't room for all of them lol
I want to revisit this deck with cheap lands matter cards. Cards that would be easy to cast but add payoffs for the lands from exile, really use the entire Buffalo if you would
You really just need the combo pieces and a pay off for infinite wolves (haste or purphoros for examples). Creature tutors you can find will help you get squee but the food chain you're going to have to draw into (or hit off an impulse draw). Sylvan Library, scroll rack sensei's divining top, mirri's guile help churn through cards especially with fetch lands to shuffle. Otherwise, you can try to rely on impulse, just be safe to always leave food chain mana open so it doesn't get stranded in exile.
How did you know I just built a Faldorn deck? Edit: after having watched the vid, I see you did what I feared you would do: leaning into Faldorn as the payoff. I was hoping you'd have something that would be redundant in case she (being our only payoff to casting from exile) gets removed enough times to be prohibitively expensive.
You can lean more into wolf tribal to get around that a bit. Master of the wild hunt, hollowhenge overlord, howlpack resurgence, howling moon, and journey to the lost city. Gets you some wolf generation and buffs that aren't totally dependent on Faldorn.
Again still waiting for that video where you group a bunch of commanders where there’s not much you want to change about the average list into one video.
Library of Leng only works on effects, not on costs, so it doesn't work with Faldorn's discarding ability. Some comprehensive rules on this page :D scryfall.com/card/me4/211/library-of-leng
Can you give an upping the average on some of the older commanders you've never made a video on. I'm getting a little tired of just seeing the latest commanders. maybe mix it up. do one new and then one old.
My recommendation is to skip Overrun and in its place add Vivien's Stampede. It cost 1 more Mana but also give all creatures vigilance to protect against a crack back if it doesn't finish the job and let's you draw up to 3 cards. It's also only like 20 cents

I have an upgraded version of Faldorn. It's my favorite deck and boy howdy do I not see that changing.
I have a faldorn deck and I love it. I am at your creature cuts and I agree. They all fall short.
This commander is so much fun ! I once flashbacked Ignite the future into a Ghalta + overwhelming stampede with a haste enabler on board. One of the most fun moment I ever had in EDH so far.
PS : Ghalta is super easy to cheat out with this deck.
A lot of people don't know that Nadness cards cast themselves from exile, which is always fun in this deck.
YAY! I literally just got her precon! :D

How do u play 3 lands a turn?
Exiling Delayed Blast Fireball to this is really fun.
I love this series, and this commander looks super sick. Not surprised there weren't a ton of changes needed. Thanks for the video!
Ruxa, Patient Professor is great. Pumps the wolves and they come in as vanilla creatures so they’re unblockable with her the field.
Food Chain with squee is amazing. Infinite mana and infinite wolves
Exploration to go with cryptolith rite and mana echoes. Great for this deck.
I would recommend Atsushi, the Blazing Sky for my fellow Faldorn players. Both death triggers are relevant (impulse drawing or making treasures) but a 4/4 flample creature gives the deck a bit of air-presence it otherwise lacks.
Flample was a new word for me but it's perfect, thanks for that.
So I tried out Omen Machine in my deck, it was brutal. I totally shut everyone else down while I stormed off. But I cut it because it was unfun for everyone else. as soon as i get a new commander deck, my now old commander gets a video
One commander I’d like to see here is Imotekh, from the Necron Dynasties Precon.

I've kept her in still to give her a chance but yeah she has not worked out at all. She's next on the cutting block in my faldorn list.
I found out I don't really like cards with Rebound in this deck. The reason is that if we cast them from exile (which could be very well happening more than from our hand) Rebound doesn't activate. So for example Terramorph, which was in the precon by the way, is not good in the deck in my opinion.
Similarly cards with madness or cast a discarded card don't work too since most of your card advantage is exile not draw
I cut the three mana ramp for one mana ramp. Also play additional lands is strong with faldorn
Agreed, elves and ghirapur orrery or wayward swordtooth. Also the land drop card play extra well with the land fall outpost siege
Some other ideas from my decklist : Ogre Battledriver, champion of Lambholt, Crashing footfalls, Grumgully, Oran-Rief and Beastmaster ascension. (
Would love to see your take of Optimus Prime, Hero

Funny how you mention Ezuri's Predation, since it comes in the precon
I was thinking the same thing.
Obviously Mizzium Mortars doesn't hit all that hard, but it does have upside in that you can cast it from exile for cheap if you are low on mana.
High cost spells in this deck are likely to get lost in the exile zone, unable to be used.
Came here to say that. I was confused why it was being 'added'.
is visions of phyrexia worth it just by virtue of being an outpost siege clone?? because idk what im missing but i can't exactly see a usage for multiple powerstones

@@Elfarcher73 my point precisely, im just surprised the card made it through to the final list.
Master of the wild hunt from jumpstart would be a good addition
Another awesome video! Keep up the amazing content! Is there any chance you could do an upping the average on Chishiro the Shattered Blade?!?!
I would love to see you cover Abdel Adrian
I want to revisit this deck with cheap lands matter cards. Cards that would be easy to cast but add payoffs for the lands from exile, really use the entire Buffalo if you would
How about a temur exile deck with the new rashmi, with stolen strategy, mind's dilation, new etali and displacer kitten
can you please do urza, chief artificer next?
Definitely needs Shared Animosity. Having seen firsthand how many wolves it makes we're talking +10/+0 easily.
Please do a Tolsimir, friend to Wolves 🙏🏻
do you need to pay the mana cost for the cards you could use by exiling them?
you should do kharn the betrayer next
How would you go about making it focused on food chain?
You really just need the combo pieces and a pay off for infinite wolves (haste or purphoros for examples). Any chance of doing The Mimeoplasm?
Would love to see my bird boy Kangee sometime
After playing this a few times I’m finding I’m always getting mana screwed, thinking of cutting to at least get up to 37 instead of the 35
Special shout-out to Apex Devastator!
Sen Triplets next please!!
what cards can be changed for the other option cards
this precon made me dismantle my svella deck. and I have no ragrets.... :P
i need an apex devastator for another deck im making. why does it need to be so expensive?!?
I love how it was "$97 then, now it is $197.. which is like 300 for me lol
As someone who has basically only run Faldorn very suprised to not see the squee the immortal and food-chain infinite combo.
10:01
Kenessos plz!
Ah, yes, Prosper but with wolves.
... and with permanent instead of temporary ramp.
How did you know I just built a Faldorn deck?

I think all other cast from exile pay off are already in the deck so there is no more redundancy to be ad.
You can lean more into wolf tribal to get around that a bit. Master of the wild hunt, hollowhenge overlord, howlpack resurgence, howling moon, and journey to the lost city. Gets you some wolf generation and buffs that aren't totally dependent on Faldorn.
I would cut Greater Gargadon imo
Greater Gargadon isn't in the decklist.
@@EDHRECast Sorry, I meant from the precon decklist. Am still early in the video though
Hehe he said Elkin Layer
Again still waiting for that video where you group a bunch of commanders where there’s not much you want to change about the average list into one video.
Library of Leng really belongs in this deck
Library of Leng only works on effects, not on costs, so it doesn't work with Faldorn's discarding ability. Some comprehensive rules on this page :D scryfall.com/card/me4/211/library-of-leng
Dang, I thought that worked. It was recommended on another channel so I assumed it did. Thanks for the correction
Some other site was raving about Library of Leng. Apparently they were wrong.
wouldnt uping the average help a needed commander not a not needed commander?
So you never looked at the deck list before making the video? Lol
Can you give an upping the average on some of the older commanders you've never made a video on. I'm getting a little tired of just seeing the latest commanders. maybe mix it up. do one new and then one old.
The previous two Upping the Average videos were on Yarok (printed 2019) and Okaun + Zndrsplt (2018).
