So many great pixel art games this year! And how did I miss Anno: Mutationem? Oh yeah, that's right! Was playing thru Elden Ring and then Tunic for like a month and a half straight, lol! Once again also managed to find a batch of other promising indies I overlooked as well, thanks to all your diligent work! Thanks, Clemmy!
The Coromon developers need all the love in the world! NOT ONLY did they create a stunning, super-interactive catch-em-all adventure with beautiful environments, cool puzzles, interesting story, a great battle mechanic and some true challenging battles - THEY ALSO added cross-saving to PC/Switch (I literally haven't seen this elsewhere). WHAT. A. GEM.
I'm in love with chained echoes, I can't stop playing it! So many other games on this list I NEED to play soon: anno, kyneseed, song of conquest. I'm also sad that I don't really enjoy rogue lites so that limits the pool for me
Souldiers is my pixel art of the year for me. I can't wait to get the physical release in february 2023, such a great game. Next pixel-art I'm waiting for the next year are The Last Faith, Blasphemous 2 and Sea of Stars now.
I would add to your words chained echoes, gorgeous pixel art. Blasphemous 2 is not known whether pixel arte will be made, and hopefully the gameplay will be more varied and more interesting.
Hey, I was planning to play Souldiers but I‘ve read the reviews and many state that the fights and exploring part of the game is straight up boring and basically the only good thing is the beautiful pixel art. Is that entirely true/ wrong or to which extend and how you view the different game aspects? 😄
@@ImNoah Just try it and play. The game is great, great pixel art, nice soundtrack, not a bad story for such a game. I do not agree with the opinion of those who say that the battles in the game are boring. There is a dynamics, a leveling tree that gives greater variety in the combat system. In comparison with the same blasphemous where there is minimal pumping and even there most of the pumping was useless, because it did not have to be used and is not interesting. In souldiers pleasant battles, there is some variety in activities, a variety of opponents. But here's what I can agree with - with the study of locations, it may seem boring, because locations do not have branches as in most metroidvanies, rather all locations are combined linearly in a straight line, you can notice this if you look at the general map of locations that can be found on the network. There aren't many hidden places or secrets. But the lack of branching did not prevent you from enjoying the game.
I have to give an enormous thanks for the creators of this video to link every steam page in the description, insane work that most people would not bother to do.
Great list of amazing pixel art. My favs are Souldiers and Prodeus. In october we had Signalis and cultic with nice pixel art that you forgot. You could do a list of FPS games too.
Love your channel! It's all I want to know, explicit, straight to the point, well organized and so on. Would be nice also to cover with some lists deals when deals periods comes
Another pixel art game that seems to have gone under the radar is Overloop from August: not one of the prettiest games, definitely going for the big-pixel minimalist look, but it's a very underrated puzzle platformer about cloning yourself. Edit: And Haiku the Robot! That game released this year as well!
One entry I personally loved but you likely couldn't mention because it's a NSFW game is "Memoirs of a battle brothel". It's actually a love-letter to Shadowrun with lots of role-playing and a solid tried and tested battle system. Also, despite the obvious adult themes, the game can be finished without a single lewd scene playing.
My top pixel art games of 2022: Chained ehoes, kynseed, souldiers, anno: mutationem, The Tarnishing of Juxtia, no place fo bravery, there is no light, Unsighted, eastward, Jack move, tmnt shredder revenger, moonscars, death,s gambit: afterlife - improved and improved version, the game really became better. . You could write some more games that were shown in the video, but they are in early access. I don't think so for a full-fledged 2022 release.
Just got this video as a recommendation and this is awesome. Also check out Astral Acent! It's one of the greatest games I played and the devs are hard working and releasing another huge update in Q1 of this year. It's much better now compared to april last year
I know it's about video games but you don't need to have 60fps in all videos. It's slow down the "lesser" performant PCs (not to mention the energy usage, CPU heat...) Great video though, being able to watch it at 720p would be better 👍🏾
ember knights is ligit one of my games of the year. sooo good they just put out a new wepon too. updates are substantial and devs have good communication and new things are pretty frequent. cant wait for offical launch but part of me would be ok with them just adding more forever lol
may try out Anno: mutationem i do love pixel art games, and i did play a number of pixel art themes also.. my only problem is when they use genres i disown the existence of with them. not too big of a fan about the side scroller system, but still the cyberpunk setting looks nice! i'll go check a copy.. should be out now! who knows .. may even add it as another let's play project!
From someone who loved the game: There isn't too much side-scrolling. It's mostly an exploration/story-driven title. Only the combat, of which there is enough to keep the player interested, but not in abundance, is side-scrolling. The rest are 3D environments.
Hey, I noticed just in this video I skipped into it and caught you saying "..is awesome" in the exact same pitch and way 3 times, lol. Maybe try to use synonyms?
Does the pixelated stylr appeal to younger people because BITD it was an aesthetic byproduct of tech limitation but these days it seems superfluous in the indie scene. Some of these games do ooze pleasant visuals don't get me wrong
December has been the coolest month so far. Giving us dwarf fortress, kynseed and chained echoes. Right now focusing on kynseed. Already ruined my sleep schedule and doing like shit at work bc lack of sleep. Worth it! (Not really)
Cursed Golf was such a disappointment for me.. it gets dull rather quickly, specially since it's quite short once you get the hang of it. Maybe at a very low price.
very beautiful titles through out the year, thank you very much for making me rediscover pixel art games again and enjoy it to the fullest, can't wait to get to the games I already have on my wishlist
Am I the only one still trying to finish playing last year's titles and now have this year's titles in the waiting list?
It's a team effort. You gotta stream other people playing games while you stream yourself playing the game you're playing.
200 games in steam backlog....

Great job on all your content for 2022, Clemmy. It's definitely been a highlight of my year.
The opening sequence of Anno:Mutationem was so beautiful indeed
mmhmm

Clemmy, your work is immaculate. Your videos have been such a refreshing part of the year.
Cheers! Thanks for the support. Indies always keep things FRESH

A round up of the best/ most anticipated Heroes of Might+Magic-like games would be a great video

There is probably enough awesome pixel art games this year for two more videos. Dead End City by Pixel Licker is my personal favorite of the year.

Finally a list of quality games, not just remastered old games
thanks
Phenomenal video, I loved a lot of these games!
Thanks!
Highly recommend EMBER KNIGHTS, incredibly good fun, feel like castle crashers meets Hades.
One cool game that just released this week is "GAL Ramirez's LION" which look like an "overlord" styled action adventure game.
Wow, a 3d MV! It's early access, tho... Still, very cool.
I can already see some bosses that were shown in Drainus, resemble the ones from Gradius.

Great video you forget signalis
Dome keeper and little witch in the wood
signalis is not pixel art
Thank you for recommendation of Drainus, its damn fun asf!
Nice
This is a best collection I saw
Imagine of final fantasy tactics was remade looking like songs of conquest or similar/better....
In my opinion, "there is no light" is the best looking game this year.
Gorgeous pixel art.

may try out Anno: mutationem

Chained Echoes is great, but need a little bit more patches to fix all the bugs.
Pixel art really has a lot of potential to look good huh.

Pixel games in 3D still boggles my mind, I just don't understand how it works it's like an illusion

My only problem with this is that I physically don't have enough time to play all of these!
No dwarf fortress ?
What is going on with The Last Faith and meifumado?
Thank you berserk and darksouls
Not sure anything will top blasphemy for pixel art for a very long time to come.
Blasphemous 2 👀
