Love these radios. Love the fact that they're available here in America. Bought a pair for $55.oo which is excellent considering everything you get, and taking the range into account as well. Might be the best budget radios out there. Bought mine direct from the company's website which ironically had the best price. Wish a black option was available, and slightly reduced weight. But for the price and performance, I can live with those things.
I expect you know already, but UHF has short 70cm radio waves that are good at bouncing inbetween infastructure in urban areas. CB has the longer 11metre radio waves that aren't so good at bouncing around urban areas. You can get much further, cheaper on UHF than CB. I regularly talk to the UHF repeater on the isle of wight 35 miles away on a handheld Baofeng GT3TP with Retevis antenna. I even got 35 miles on VHF too. There's guys talking on UHF 200 miles from the repeater, with an outdoor antenna and a bit more watts.
I used to talk 70 miles away between Galveston and Houston any time I went there. I've never had a problem with running ANY mode. Am, usb, lsb, fm and am stereo! Didn't matter. A good radio makes all the difference on a rainy day at the beach. 🙂
Why amazed by half km, never had any pmr446 even since beginning that can't get me full comms round fairford airfield and Duxford both differant sizes we've tested from. One end to other no issues on various sets, we use a dcs tone though less using dcs or was
@@CB-RADIO-UK yes but it still does the job needed, to provide low cost, low power coms, people are wanting more from something it was never meant to do, was never designed to provide hams or cb types with something to Dx with
That's the point was trying to make pmr446 is great for business users, cheap low cost, well was before dpmr versions which no body seems to want or need, extra channels are good on the analogue side though, I say akways buy a set with both ctcss and dcs not just ctcss,
So great for keeping up wiyh coms on an open site, round here I listen to tractor and farm coms a few miles away, mind I most farns do use proper licensed with repeaters or single freqs, but it's been a massive sucess it does what it supposed to do not what others may think they want, there's other options high power, other freqs, pmr446 is very useful for what it does
I see that Retevis provide Windows USB drivers for these radios. CHIRP however does not currently support the RT45Ps. It would be good to see what you can get out of the USB port.
Almost as good as the Retevis RT16 / Baofeng T8 / R8 / U9 reprogrammable international licence free handy that Jez 2j4ez reviewed, programable with a UV3R single pin programming cable and T8 software or Chirp
I would want to see somebody creating a walkie-talkie cell phone but also that goes on either GMRS or in other words. You can talk to any GMRS radio. Or FRS radio that is something that is missing. Since Nextel went bingo. Change the Web bingo that's something that's missing. Sunday that's a similar radio has 0 has teams. Speak has all the apps? But it also has another app for either FRS or BMS. And you know that's something. That's really missing since the next town when bingo. Next tell apparently what the only one who put an actual walkie-talkie into a cell phone. Into a cell phone they're the only ones who can do it well. How come no one else does it use FRS frequencies or GMRS frequencies and let people know that if they want this particular? Cellphone they need to get AGM RS license. And maybe even a hand lights in sift and wanna go on any of the apps? That require a hamlicence. And another great feature i'd love to see. Is the walkie-talkie working nationwide? And you know what I mean because it will also go over? 2. Soil? In network. Which means the walkie-talkie the GMS or FRS radio should. Go like a cell phone as you also go into cellular signals. That's what next till actually had. And that's a really truly need to be reinvented. We must reinvent the old Nextel. Bring it back. Make sure that a radio works over cellular if. And most of time the regular via Mars or FRS. Radio works overscellular. But of course you might require AGM R AGM RS license or if you want to use the apps and go to completely overstailer. No problem you might need a handlicence. Somebody needs a recreate next tell. And I hope that happens sooner than later. God bless and thank you for making this video.
Thanks Fred, they look pretty decent buddy. Well done
Now that was a surprising result...well impressed........best wishes Fred.......Bob
Great video mate and just got my self this radios very impressed thanks
Glad I could help

They do work well. Half a watt does reduce the range but fine for everyday use. The have a new waterproof version coming out which i will test soon.

Looking forward to that review video. 👍
Nice. East Coast of South Carolina. USA.I was able to talk to a guy named Ian located in Darby England last week . I think it was 35 lower side band.
Happy Xmas Fred , If only we had these as kids instead of a mono channel 69Mhz walkie talkies , Have a Guiness (home brew) for me too
Merry Christmas mate hope u all had a great day.
You too and family Gary.
You know what Fred got for Christmas 😃😃😃😃
LOL. They sent these over a while back. They have sent others since :-)
Lol got the Inrico t320 and the TM7 in the van and work colleagues have the same brilliant bit of kit
They look like a variation of the Floureon FC200 that Jez 2j4ez reviewed a few months ago
with excellent results

UHF repeater on the isle of wight and Baofeng GT3TP arent licence free
i like the orange look.
I have some Retevis PMR radios not that model but they are brilliant especially once you have connected them to a pc
Should have turned off CTCSS/DCS for longer range.
They are pretty much the same as the Motorola radios. I would think they are made in the same factory.
The do look almost the same.

Because it was tested in a dense built up area. It kills NFM coms.

Yes i agree with you it was only meant for short com. You can get more distance out of dark side radios but even they suffer in built up areas.
do the belt clips have a whistle on the top?
Cannot rem on this model but some do.
brilliant test I've invested in the white ones .
They can be reprogrammed to 2w.
Try them with good non rechargeable batteries which are 1.5v.
Rechargeable batteries are only 1.2v.
How can this be done, which software and cable should be used? Thanks.
Very good review. Looks like a great option for hiking etc. It would be interesting to see if it can be boosted to 2w.
Hi Joe. They tell me this model can be reprogrammed to 2w. Ive not tried myself.
I was able to reprogram those PMR to 2w, it is not available out of the box and require some hacking and their USB cable.

Iam sure you could jailbreak it. The fact it shows HI power on the display.
Hi. I need belt clips for Retevis Rt45P. Is it possible to check compatibility with any PMR Motorola? Much better purchase availability
Not personally as i dont own any Motorola radios.

When you checked the boafeng did you check in vhf or uhf frequencies just wondering
Hi Ron. No i only tested the 446 freq
I find it strange that the ritives with less power would out range the baofeng at 5 watts ??
@@ronleblanc9832 Only the small Baofeng radios. Not the UV5r.
Aaaaa that why i have acouple uv5r s
I use a 5w baofeng UV-82 mobile and a 40w intek HR-2040 at home on PMR :)

Good choice.
